Chapter 14
While the demon slept soundly beside her, Li Jia and her brainwaves discussed the plot and devised a strategy for most of the night.
It wasn't until the sky began to lighten that the system yawned, saying it needed to go back to recharge and that Li Jia should call it if needed.
Disturbed and with dark circles under her eyes, Li Jia softly hummed in agreement.
The brainwaves disappeared from the brain.
Li Jia picked up the hourglass necklace around her neck and sighed deeply.
I've been here for almost half a month, and only two grains of sand have fallen.
Li Jia and the system both agreed that if they wanted Hera to not marry Zeus, then Li Jia had to hold a very important place in Hera's heart. Li Jia's idea was very simple.
As long as it's similar to Winslow, it's fine.
At least.
Become her friend?
She also doesn't have Doreen's high combat strength, and she can go through life and death with Hera.
If someone holds a place in her heart, she will trust them and everything she does will be in their favor.
She wouldn't object to her interfering in breaking up her marriage with Zeus.
In truth, she wasn't sure if Hera would marry him again because of the power of the god-king.
The authority of the God-King belongs exclusively to the God-King.
The God-King possesses the highest power of creation and destruction in the entire book. He can maintain and create new world frameworks and orders, and he can also use his astonishing power to instantly reduce everything to nothing and reshape it.
In the original story, Zeus's authority as the king of the gods had the power to suppress all the gods, and even the three creator gods might not be able to get the better of him.
At this stage of the story, there are only twelve gods; Zeus has not yet become the king of the gods.
So, what exactly is the basis for becoming the King of Gods?
Li Jia only read two-thirds of the book, skimming through it. She regretted not finishing the whole book and asked the system for the remaining third of the plot.
The system immediately started alarming, displaying that she did not have permission. The system awkwardly told her that Li Jia could only see the full plot by following the storyline to the second half. What she saw now was a spoiler, and only the parts with mosaics were visible.
Li Jia had no choice but to give up and take it one step at a time.
She had completed the first step of her strategy and successfully arrived at her side.
The key word for the second step is just three words: favorability.
Li Jiade worked hard to increase her favorability so that she could speak to him.
So how can I increase my favorability rating?
This is another problem. Hera is often not in the hot springs. The few times I've seen her, it's mostly at night. She only comes back to sleep for a while, and when Li Jia wakes up, she's gone.
She recalled a saying: They are all hotels, only she is home.
Li Jia was a little angry for no apparent reason.
How could this happen? They forcibly brought her back and made her sit on the sidelines every day.
Li Jia became angrier the more she thought about it.
For fire signs, anger can erupt in an instant.
After last night's conversation, Li Jia became bolder, and she reached out and shook the arm of the person next to her.
Hera had actually been awake for a while. She used her divine sense to look at the little one in her arms, whose face was a mix of colors, sometimes happy and sometimes sad.
Hera found it even more interesting to see so many different kinds of expressions on one face at the same time.
I have no idea what Li Jia is trying to do or what she wants to say.
When Li Jia shook her for the first time, she didn't open her eyes. If she woke up immediately, it would seem like she was a little...unreserved.
So when Li Jia shook her a second time, she still didn't open her eyes.
Li Jiazhen thought she was asleep, so she didn't dare to continue provoking her.
Unexpectedly, his arm bumped into her.
The demon opened its eyes, its beautiful red pupils gazing at her with a resentful look.
Li Jia was dumbfounded; this was truly unbelievable!
Startled, he immediately sat up.
I pray to Heaven!
Distinguishing between the loyal and the treacherous!
She didn't do anything!
Under the eerie gaze, Li Jia trembled as she tugged at Lahera's robe sleeve, her tone soft and sweet as she asked, "Your Majesty, you're awake. Did you sleep well last night?"
"You slept...not bad." Hera raised an eyebrow, propped her head up with one hand while lying on her side, and asked softly, "Is there something you want to tell me?"
At this moment, the anger that Li Jia had just ignited was extinguished by more than half. She secretly glanced at Hera, who seemed to be in a good mood. Now might be a good time to talk to her.
If I don't say anything now, I don't know when I'll see her again. If I don't even get to see her, how am I supposed to improve my favorability rating?
After hesitating for a few moments, Li Jia decided to try to improve her favorability first, otherwise she would be doomed.
Who knows if Hera will be seduced by other cats and dogs when she's not around?
“As His Majesty’s attendant, I should always be by His Majesty’s side. Serving His Majesty is my duty, but now I can only see His Majesty occasionally at night.” His voice trailed off as he spoke: “That’s right, could you please take me with you when you go out in the future? I promise I won’t let you down.”
Li Jia lowered her head slightly, her fingers tracing circles on Hera's sash. Her eyes were wet and droopy, covered with a layer of mist that couldn't be cleared, making her look extremely aggrieved.
The voice was soft and hoarse, as if something was blocking it.
Since Li Jia discovered that she was more responsive to gentle persuasion than force, she had begun to weigh the situation.
With her pitiful appearance put on, Hera couldn't find anything wrong with her or say anything harsh.
Hera: "Okay."
Li Jia: "What the hell?"
Why did she agree so readily? Li Jia thought it would take Hera at least a few nights of coaxing before she would agree to go out with her.
Seeing Li Jia's shocked expression, Hera was actually in a good mood.
Even if Li Jia didn't bring it up, she planned to keep her by her side.
She was curious to see what tricks this little guy was up to.
There's plenty of time; she'll eventually slip up.
Including what she actually wanted to get from her, her lies and rhetoric were utterly unbelievable.
"Then get up."
Hera got up and got out of bed. She glanced down at the dumbfounded girl on the bed, and then noticed her two nipples. She turned around and said indifferently.
"Huh? So early? What are you doing up so early?"
The sun hadn't fully risen yet, and Li Jia estimated it was still before seven o'clock. She didn't have to go to work or school, so why get up so early when she had nothing better to do?
Hera: "To inspect the Temple of Marriage and to resolve their problems."
Okay, fine.
Oh, so she has to go to work. No wonder Hera gets up so early every day.
Li Jia said awkwardly, "But so early, do people really go to offer incense this early?"
Hera: "The early bird catches the worm, otherwise what? Are you waiting for incense to be automatically delivered to your mouth?"
Li Jia could only nod, and Hera told her to get ready and wait in the main hall.
Ugh, I have to work even though I'm here. It's all because of this lousy travel guide!
Li Jia let out three roars of a corporate slave.
Reluctantly, she got up and started picking out clothes. After thinking for a while, she decided to wear her own custom-made uniform. Most of Hera's clothes were black and red, in order to match her style.
At least it would make it obvious to outsiders that they were a group. Li Jia specially asked the textile goddess to make her a black uniform and a pleated skirt, paired with a red bow tie. Li Jia also asked her to make two red wavy hair clips for her.
She tied her hair into pigtails and walked contentedly to the bronze mirror.
Not bad, it has that Hell Girl vibe.
Li Jia slowly walked to the entrance of the main hall, her mind racing with doubt the whole way. How could she have agreed so readily?
Something unusual must be going on; we just don't know what Hera is up to.
Now it's her turn to be confused.
Why aren't you coming in yet?
Sensing the little one lingering and dawdling behind the door, a hint of confusion appeared on the face of the person in the hall.
How come she had the nerve to ask me to take her with me just now, but now she doesn't even dare to go through the door?
Hearing Hera calling her, Li Jia had no choice but to bite the bullet and go inside. As soon as she entered, she smelled the aroma of food, and Li Jia couldn't help but swallow.
Li Jia almost forgot about breakfast, but don't gods not need to eat breakfast?
Why is there a smell of food in the main hall?
She was even planning to sneak off to Winslow to see if she could slip her a couple of loaves of bread to take on the road.
"Come up."
The high-ranking deity beckoned to her with a finger, and Li Jia dared not disobey, so she had no choice but to scurry up to him.
Li Jia also discovered that as long as she was obedient and followed his lead, she would have everything she needed, including food, drink, clothes, and money.
She stood obediently beside the woman. The woman looked up and carefully examined her face and the unfamiliar clothes, then nodded in satisfaction: "Not bad."
What exactly is okay?
Li Jia was completely confused, but before she could figure it out, a pair of large hands lifted her onto their laps. Due to the height difference, Li Jia had no chance to fight back.
Suddenly, so close to Hera, Li Jia's throat bobbed twice, but she couldn't make a sound. Only her heart pounded like a drum in her chest, making her eardrums buzz.
My gaze fell on the food on the table in front of me: crispy toasted bread slices, mashed potatoes with chopped parsley, golden-brown beef slices, fried eggs, and a large bowl of grapes.
Li Jia's attention was completely drawn to the food, and she forgot the panic she had felt just moments before, letting the woman stroke the soft flesh on her back and arms.
"Eat."
After saying that, he picked up a grape from the table, peeled it, and put it into her mouth. Li Jia swallowed it directly; it was sweet and juicy.
He thought to himself, "I never imagined that the cold and ruthless god in the book would actually be a person with strange fetishes. He likes human body pillows, and he also likes to buy clothes for them and feed them."
She's starting to feel like Hera is playing a game like Miracle Nikki.
Winslow stood to the side, her eyes filled with disbelief at the "bump." Even though she tried her best to restrain herself, the corners of her mouth involuntarily turned up, the curve growing wider and wider until she simply covered her mouth, her shoulders still trembling slightly.
Finally, he made an excuse to eat on his way to get some food and slipped out of the main hall.
Doreen stood there like a block of wood, playing the role of a 100,000-volt light bulb. Winslow couldn't stand it anymore and asked her to go to the kitchen to tidy up.
Aren't you two going to eat?
Li Jia had already eaten her fill and was so stuffed that she was almost fainting in Hera's arms. Seeing the two of them sneaking around, she asked a question in her drunken state.
“We’ve already eaten, we’ve already eaten. I’ll go to the kitchen and get you some cookies.” Winslow said, covering Doreen’s mouth before she could say “No…” and dragging her out of the main hall.
"Don't ruin His Majesty's plans."
Winslow was disappointed in his son's lack of ambition.
"What good news?"
“You’re such a blockhead. His Majesty is like a rare iron tree that blooms only once in a thousand years. When have you ever seen His Majesty have breakfast in the hot spring? He even summoned me by divine decree in the morning to prepare it.”
"This is incredible! My art can finally be put to good use!"
Doreen felt that not only His Majesty was acting strangely, but Winslow was too.
