Chapter 145 Why Can't I Forget You

Chapter 145 Why Can't I Forget You

After dinner, Chu Shuang tried her best to get Chao Yu to stay at her house for one night. She was so enthusiastic that Chao Yu stayed.

At night, Chu Shuang and Chao Yu slept together in the guest bedroom near the back garden, and the master bedroom was left for Sheng Ting.

The two chatted a lot that night. Chaoyu shared with Chushuang her experiences in studying and practicing medicine over the years. Those stories could not be finished for days and nights.

Chu Shuang was fascinated by each item that was mentioned separately, and her understanding of Chao Yu became more three-dimensional.

In between her studies, she was never idle. She visited many countries, traveled a long way, saw the world, and provided emergency treatment to people with sudden illnesses many times during her travels.

Listening to her talk about those experiences, Chu Shuang felt that her whole body was glowing.

A strong and independent woman who shines in her own field.

She said nothing about the hardships along the way.

Chu Shuang listened quietly, but her heart was filled with turmoil.

The girl my brother likes is really an excellent person.

There were constant chirping of insects downstairs, and it was late at night. Listening to her stories, it felt like the bedtime stories I heard from my grandmother when I was a child.

We talked too much and too late, and Chu Shuang couldn't even remember how she fell asleep.

After breakfast the next day, Sheng Ting called Chao Yu over alone.

Looking at the small wooden box in the room, Chao Yu was slightly surprised, "A gift for me?"

"Um."

After staring at the small wooden box for a while, he raised his eyebrows and smiled at Chao Yu, "What? You even specially found a small wooden box to put it in. Is it a valuable antique?"

Seeing that she was about to reach out to open the box, Sheng Ting stopped her.

"Go back and watch it later."

The expression on the man's face was somewhat serious, and Chao Yu became more curious.

"What is so mysterious?"

Sheng Ting's dark eyes were calm, and his voice was a little low. "I'm sorry first."

"I should have given you these things ten years ago. But you were in such a bad condition that you couldn't bear any more stimulation. You and Chu Shuang have been tormented by your inner demons these years. I can't bear to see anything happen to you, and Chu Wei doesn't want to see it either."

He suddenly mentioned the name, paused at Yu, and looked at the box with a different expression.

She laughed. “So, this is from ten years ago?”

"Yes." Sheng Ting's Adam's apple rolled. "I thought you should be able to face these things calmly now, so I gave them to you. You can burn them or keep them as a reminder. In short, don't dwell on the past and don't hurt yourself."

Even though he knew that she would not do anything stupid again, Sheng Ting was still worried and had to give her some instructions.

Chao Yu looked away from the box, a smile on her face, "I see, that's why I can't bear to hurt myself. Anyway, thank you for keeping it for me for ten years."

When Chu Shuang left with the box, she was watering the flowers in the yard. Seeing the box in her hands, Chu Shuang smiled quietly.

Chao Yu came over and hugged her before getting into the car.

Looking at the person going away, Chu Shuang stood with Sheng Ting and said softly, "Sister's reaction is better than I thought."

He left with a smile on his face, not the emotional breakdown she thought.

Sheng Ting looked far away, "I hope so."

After returning to her residence, Chao Yu hummed a song as she placed the box on the table. Next to the table was a photo frame of a man.

"I never thought that I would receive a gift from you again after ten years."

She smiled softly, her eyes sparkling as she looked at the gentle and elegant man in the photo: "It's been ten years. I'm no longer the little girl who cries when I see anything related to you. Don't you think Sheng Ting's worry is a bit unnecessary?"

She took a deep breath and opened the box. The first thing that caught her eye was the scarf. She picked it up and guessed that it was an experimental product.

She flipped through the piles of photos, all taken when she was in college. The smile on her lips gradually shrank.

It was not until she turned over the back and saw the clear handwriting "Get married after graduation" that tears welled up in Chaoyu's eyes.

The hot tears dripped onto the photo, soaking the man's handsome and deep face. She could no longer control her emotions and burst into tears.

Like a lost child on a rainy night, crying without any manner at all.

"You want to marry me, you actually want to marry me..."

She cried and then laughed, "It turns out you had planned my life a long time ago. Why didn't you keep your promise? Why did you save someone who has nothing to do with you..."

Her heart ached so much that she had difficulty breathing. She covered her chest and burst into tears. She looked at the person in the photo with painful reluctance and nostalgia, "Why can't I forget you? Why is it so painful?"
