Chapter 5: Colder Fragrance than Midnight Tuberose
After dinner, Chu Shuang was drawing in the room, but the puppy was very lively tonight, jumping around in the house non-stop, disturbing her work.
"You're so restless, do you want to go out and play?"
After turning off the computer, Hatsushiro put a leash on the dog and took it for a walk in the backyard.
There was a crescent moon hanging in the night sky, and there seemed to be a nest of birds hiding among the sycamore trees, which occasionally chirped softly, attracting the puppy's attention.
Seeing it staring at the tree trunk and unable to move, Hatsushimo touched its head and said, "Do you like birds? I'll buy you two parrots to keep you company."
Walking forward with the dog, we came to a rockery pond. The changing ground lights cast colorful tones on the surface of the pond, and the bright moon and evening breeze created a leisurely atmosphere.
The leash was a little tight, and when I looked at the puppy, I found that it had stopped walking again.
Anything can interest it.
Hatsushimo smiled fondly, "You like colored lights?"
The phone in my pocket suddenly vibrated. I took it out and saw it was an unfamiliar number.
"Hello."
The man's voice was clear and sharp. "You blocked all my contact information. You are awesome, Chu Shuang."
Hatsushimo paused, "Hello? Can you hear me? My signal seems to be..."
"Don't pretend."
"not good……"
Something touched Gu Sui's heart, and he laughed lazily, "Shuang'er, do I scare you so much? After all, I'm your boyfriend. We've hugged and kissed each other before. How could I bear to do anything to you?"
Hatsushimo Masamasa: “I’ve never kissed her.”
"Oh, really? You haven't been around for so long that I forgot." Gu Sui Bolan said without surprise: "Then we'll make it up next time we meet."
Chu Shuang picked up a leaf and held it in her palm, watching it go from intact to broken. She spoke in a cold and helpless tone, "Gu Sui, have you ever thought about marrying me?"
There was silence for two seconds, and then a slightly frightened voice asked, "Marriage?"
Chu Shuang sniffed and her voice softened, "Yeah, you never thought about marrying me. We didn't end up together..."
She even cried a little, "I really wanted to be with you from the beginning, but the women around you, including you, only reminded me that we are not the same kind of people. What I want is a wholehearted and loyal life with you, and what you want is just a temporary novelty."
"In this case, I am also a person who can take it or leave it. Rather than being bruised all over in the end, it is better to stop the damage now. Gu Sui, I am not one of those women who will take you as everything in life if you give me a little favor. If you can't give me marriage, don't mess with me."
Gu Sui had never heard Chu Shuang speak in such a pitiful tone of weakness, and especially when he heard her words expressing her deep love for him, his heart softened a little.
"First frost."
She continued: "My family is a very traditional one. Girls have to prepare for blind dates and marriages after graduation. I can't wait for you for three to five years. I want to have a family and get married."
Holding back the strange feeling in his heart, Gu Sui asked, "Where do you work now? How is your workplace? Has anyone bullied you?"
"Everything is fine, don't worry." Chu Shuang softened her voice, "Think clearly about your feelings for me and then come to me. Or, let's just part ways and don't bother each other anymore. Goodbye, I wish you happiness."
Without waiting for the other party to say anything, she hung up the phone and let out a breath.
Why didn't I think of this before? When dealing with a man like Gu Sui, one should use gentleness to overcome strength and take the initiative.
He was simply unwilling to get what he wanted, and he had no intention of staying with her for long, let alone marrying her. She portrayed herself as a poor little person who couldn't get the love he wanted, and with Gu Sui's personality, he would not get into such trouble.
I was so busy talking on the phone that I didn't even notice the puppy ran away. When I looked down, it was gone.
Chushuang wanted to call the dog, but found that she had not given it a name yet, so she had to call "baby" and "puppy" as she walked.
Soon, she got a response.
She walked up a few steps from the rockery to the carp viewing pavilion, which was right above where she had just made the phone call.
There was a dim orange light in the pavilion. In the dim light, the shadows of a man and a dog were reflected not far away. Chushuang was looking at the scene in the pavilion a few steps away and slowed down his pace.
The man was tall and straight, with his facial features outlined by shadows, deep and strong. The puppy at his feet kept wagging its tail, and the phone screen between his fingers was glowing faintly.
His whole body was shrouded in the blend of light and darkness, and those faint lights could not drive away the indifference in him.
Hearing the sound, he glanced sideways.
Glancing at those deep black eyes, Chu Shuang pursed her lips slightly, "Is my uncle coming out for a walk too?"
"Yeah." Looking at the dog at his feet, Sheng Ting agreed calmly: "Be careful when you take your pet out at night. The pond here is very deep."
"Okay, I'll pay attention next time."
"Come here, puppy."
He opened his arms and called the dog softly. The little golden retriever whimpered and looked at Sheng Ting with its bright eyes, as if begging for something, but the man didn't give it any extra response.
Knowing there was no hope, the puppy ran towards his owner.
Pulling on its leash, Chu Shuang looked at Sheng Ting and said, "Uncle, we'll go back first. You can have fun... slowly."
"Um."
After walking away with the puppy, Chu Shuang secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She had never seen elders so cold since she was a child.
This little dog really likes people to be close to it. Every time it sees people, it likes people to touch it. Just now, it was acting cute next to Sheng Ting, but Sheng Ting ignored it.
Hatsushimo picked it up and said, "Tsk, poor little thing."
Fortunately, her relatives and elders are all very friendly and not so serious.
She secretly rejoiced for two seconds, then suddenly stopped. But if she married Sheng Yang in the future, he would also be her elder.
As soon as she entered the house, Madam Sheng waved to Chu Shuang with a gentle look in her eyes, "Ah Shuang, come and have some chicken soup. The kitchen has cooked a lot."
The puppy smelled the scent and ran over excitedly with its tail wagging. Mrs. Sheng touched its head lovingly with a smile and told the servant beside her to get some chicken for it as well.
After drinking chicken soup and chatting with Mrs. Sheng for a while, Tian Chushuang took the dog upstairs.
Perhaps the chicken soup was too salty. Chushuang was awakened by thirst in the middle of the night and went downstairs to find some water to drink.
It was quiet in the middle of the night. I put on my slippers on the wooden floor. The slightest movement was erased by the darkness. Halfway down the stairs, my slippers suddenly stopped on the steps.
The eyes of Chu Shuang were clear and moist, with a slender figure reflected in her pupils.
The moon was bright in the sky, its light streaming in through the window frame, casting a cool silver shadow on half of his body. The man raised a glass of water, the liquid in the glass shimmering lightly, his slender fingers casting shadows in the moonlight.
He is too compatible with darkness.
I couldn't see his features in the darkness, but Chushuang could make him out from a distance just by looking at his profile.
It's strange, since we only met a few times.
There was a pot of tuberose on the flower stand next to her. The rich fragrance of the flowers mixed with the cold air penetrated into her lungs, making it difficult to distinguish between dreams and reality.
A strange sense of familiarity lingered somewhere in my heart. It seemed like I had seen this scene somewhere before...
After a few seconds of absent-minded contemplation, the subtle feeling that suddenly arose in his heart had disappeared, and his eyes focused again on the abyss.
Sheng Ting just looked at her from a distance, his brows and eyes were calm. He didn't know if there was a little night breeze by the window. His mellow voice rang out, "Would you like some water?"
Chu Shuang saw him pick up another cup and fill it with water. She walked over and the man handed the glass to her.
"Thank you, uncle."
Sheng Ting did not stay for long, "Good night."
"Good night."
It was a scent even colder than the midnight tuberose. It was the first time that Hatsumei used the word "clear" to describe the smell.
The glass was ice cold, but the water was warm.
