142. Flaw

142. Flaw

Two heads fell to the ground.

Chen Ji saw from afar that the tavern had become covered in blood, and the originally bustling street suddenly became silent.

Mr. Feng, dressed in a green robe, sat calmly on his horse. His body was not stained with blood, yet he reeked of blood. In this world, the people who love killing the most are never warriors, but scholars.

The light from the tavern shone on the portraits, and Chen Ji suddenly realized that every one of them was of him. With just a few strokes, he was portrayed vividly, his features distinct.

It turned out that the Liu family wanted to kill him from the beginning.

Why?

I guess the things I did for the Secret Service were leaked, and the Liu family wants to use me as a target.

Chen Ji turned around and retreated into the distance, preparing to take the prince and Bai Li away, but he gradually slowed down his pace.

There are probably thousands of soldiers in this small town. If they search all over the mountains and plains, he, Bai Li, the prince, and Zhang Xia will not be able to escape far.

He turned his head to look in the direction where the prince and others were hiding. They were too far away and he could only vaguely see the blast furnace chimney of the iron smelting workshop in the night.

The firelight in the tavern and the shouts of the soldiers gathering together intertwined around him.

The next moment, Chen Ji came to his senses and walked in the opposite direction.

I walked for an unknown distance until I arrived at a small noodle shop and waved to the owner, "Boss, give me a bowl of noodles."

The shopkeeper, who was wiping the table, put the towel on his arm and asked with a smile, "What kind of noodles would you like to have, sir?"

Chen Ji found a wooden table by the door and sat down: "Any noodles, as long as they're hot!"

"Okay!"

After a while, the shopkeeper brought a bowl of pork intestine noodles and placed it in front of Chen Ji.

There were sounds of chaos outside the door. Chen Ji in the noodle shop didn't even look outside and let the soldiers run past the door.

He didn't mind the heat, so he picked up the chopsticks and rolled up a big mouthful of noodles and sucked it into his mouth.

After taking the first bite, Chen Ji let out a long sigh of relief: "Delicious!"

After a day on the run, being able to eat a hot bowl of pig intestine noodles is one of the happiest moments in life. Every bite of noodles makes me feel as if my body is burning hot.

Chen Ji finished his noodles in a few mouthfuls and glanced at the red soup in the bowl with some nostalgia. He wanted to finish the soup, but if he did, he would not be able to run anymore.

He sighed softly: "What a pity."

The shopkeeper was puzzled: "Sir, what's the pity?"

"Nothing," Chen Ji grinned and threw a piece of silver on the table: "Boss, here's some money."

The shopkeeper was stunned at first, then calmly put the silver into his sleeve and said: "Sir, the noodles in our shop are cheap, you gave too much silver, I will go to the next door to give

Please change some copper coins."

Chen Ji smiled and waved his hand: "Go ahead."

After the shopkeeper left, he took another look at the noodle soup, then stood up and walked along the cinder road toward the camp fence in the northeast direction, walking faster and faster until he finally ran.

The shopkeeper led a few soldiers back to the noodle shop: "My dear soldiers, that young man is still waiting for change in my shop... Hey, where is he?"

A soldier kicked the shopkeeper over, cursing, "How dare you play tricks on me?"

The shopkeeper said hurriedly: "He was here just now, he must not have gone far!"

After saying that, he looked around and saw Chen Ji lightly jumping over the wooden fence: "There!"

The soldiers turned around and saw Chen Ji running into the deep mountains and old forests. They immediately shouted loudly: "Found him, right here! Chase him!"

More and more troops gathered in the northeast, chasing after Chen Ji's escape route, like a swarm of locusts, covering the sky and the earth.

In the mountain forest under the moonlight, the dry and bare trees could not hide anyone. Hundreds of soldiers rushed in, but they could not find Chen Ji.

A soldier stepped on the soft rotten leaves, drew his sword, and searched forward vigilantly.

However, just as the soldier turned his head to look to the left, Chen Ji suddenly flashed out from behind the tree trunk on the right and slashed the soldier's neck cleanly with a knife.

The blade lightly scratched the carotid artery, as light as a cool breeze caressing the neck.

When the soldier covered his neck and looked back, Chen Ji had already passed him and disappeared behind another tree trunk.

By the time the others found him, blood was oozing from between his fingers. He only had time to point to the tree trunk where Chen Ji was hiding before he collapsed unwillingly on the rotten leaves.

"Over here!" Two soldiers shouted as they surrounded the tree trunk from both sides.

The two men looked at each other, then leaped forward together, and the two long swords chopped out crosswise like scissors.

when!

when!

The two long knives made a dull sound when they hit the tree trunk. The two men looked carefully and saw that there was someone behind the tree trunk.

wrong!

Their eyes blurred, and they saw Chen Ji jumping down from the tree, squatting down lightly on the knife that the two men had stuck in the tree trunk.

The two soldiers looked up in astonishment, staring fixedly at Chen Trace squatting on their swords. A gust of wind blew through the mountains, rubbing against the rotten leaves piled on the ground.

Chen Ji was staring back at them, his eyes devoid of emotion, only cold calculation: "Ask for help."

The two soldiers suddenly felt a chill rising from their tailbones and all the way to their scalps!

"Someone! He's here!"

"Someone come!"

The two soldiers let go of their knife handles and retreated, but before their feet could completely leave the ground, Chen Ji swung his knife, leaving a line of blood on their necks.

With another leap, Chen Ji stepped on the blade stuck in the tree trunk and passed the two people, disappearing into the woods without looking back.

These two cries for help finally alarmed everyone. Hundreds of soldiers stepped on the gray rotten leaves and ran madly towards Chen Ji's back.

But the strange thing is that they can clearly see Chen Ji's traces, but they can't catch up with him.

It seemed as if they always maintained a fixed distance between them, neither close nor far. Every time when the soldiers thought they were about to lose him, Chen Ji's back would gradually become clear again.

The next moment, Chen Ji, who had climbed to the top of the hill and was about to cross the mountain, suddenly stopped for a moment.

He turned around and took a deep look at the military town behind him, then he set off again and disappeared behind the mountain.

In the military town, Mr. Feng came to the noodle shop with dozens of black-clad followers. He jumped off his horse lightly, walked into the noodle shop holding his clothes, and sat down at the table where Chen Ji had sat before. The bowl that Chen Ji had eaten from was still not put away.

He said to the shopkeeper with a smile, "Shopkeeper, give me a bowl of noodles, exactly the same as the one the young man gave me before."

The shopkeeper trembled with fear as he cooked a bowl of pig intestine noodles and brought it over. Mr. Feng took a bite and exclaimed loudly, "It's delicious! Didn't that young man praise it before?"

The shopkeeper murmured, "I have...praised it."

Mr. Feng finished his noodles. A waiter in black handed him a white silk handkerchief. He wiped his mouth, threw the handkerchief on the ground, and then looked at Chen Ji's bowl.

After pondering for a moment, Mr. Feng compared his bowl with Chen Ji's, then took a sip of the soup from Chen Ji's bowl and said, "The taste is the same... After a day of hunger and a day of fleeing, how can a person resist drinking this mouthful of hot noodle soup?"

Mr. Feng muttered to himself, "How could such a meticulous person let slip such a small matter as the wooden chips?"

After saying that, he got up and went out.

A black-clad attendant asked, "Mr. Feng, should we chase him?"

Mr. Feng jumped on his horse and laughed heartily, "That young man deliberately revealed his flaws here. I think he wanted to cover up the whereabouts of the prince and the princess. He sent people to continue searching the military town. The prince and the princess should still be here."

The black-clad attendant asked, "So, will this young man still pursue us?"

Mr. Feng rode his horse in the direction Chen Ji had fled. "Chase him! Why not? I'm still waiting to take his head to bury with you, Second Master. He's the most important prey."
