Chapter 44 Don't Set Her Shop On Fire
Jiang Ling returned to the warehouse.
The shop doesn't have much stock of flashlights, but we can still find two or three more.
She rummaged through the cardboard box where the flashlights were kept, and there were two black flashlights inside.
She then rummaged through the cardboard box next to her, and found a flashlight with a red metal casing inside.
This is another style of flashlight, smaller and more portable than the black one.
This one is obviously selling quite well.
Jiang Ling installed the battery.
I got a new lighter.
She took two items out of the warehouse and placed them on the table.
"This spotlight is smaller, only the size of a palm, which is more suitable for girls, but it doesn't shine as far."
"This is a tinderbox. It's the same kind you and Zhao Jingxing use."
This is currently the most expensive lighter in her shop.
Cheng Jiaojiao's eyes lit up as soon as she saw the red light, and she immediately reached out and picked it up.
The cool touch instantly spread across my hand; it was both angular and smooth.
The size is just right, and I couldn't put it down as soon as I touched it.
"Wow, I like this! This is much lighter than my brother's."
She clearly played with Cheng Fang's lights quite often, and immediately found the switch on the red metal casing.
"Thud—"
With a sound, it opened.
The beam of light shone into the night outside the door, instantly carving a path of light.
"Wow! I'm finally going to have my own lamp! I don't have to beg that stingy older brother anymore! Princess Chaoyang and Princess Taiping will be green with envy!"
She happily waved the spotlight around.
I couldn't help but exclaim in amazement at every spot that was illuminated.
Cheng Fang's face darkened. Although he disliked it, he didn't stop it.
"Did you buy the flashlight just to show off when you get back?"
Cheng Jiaojiao ignored him, and after checking the function of the lamp, she picked up the black tinderbox on the table.
They looked at it like it was a precious treasure.
Holding it in my hand and turning it over and over, it has that familiar texture!
The jet-black iron sheet was polished to a smooth, glass-like finish, easily reflecting a person's image!
She carefully opened the lid and casually pulled out a handkerchief she used close to her body.
"wipe--"
With a single sound, the flame was ignited.
A puff of white smoke rose, and the expensive silk scarf/handkerchief was blazing brightly on fire.
The smell of burnt fibers permeated the shop.
Jiang Ling had a string of black spots on her forehead...
Is their fire safety awareness really that bad?
Are you really going to play with fire right in front of her?
Don't burn her shop down!
However, Cheng Jiaojiao was still in a state of excitement at this moment.
After the handkerchief burned out, he blew hard into the flames.
The flame remained perfectly still, as always!
Her eyes darted around, looking about as if she wanted to burn something else to play with.
Jiang Ling's heart leaped into her throat!
Do you really want to burn her shop down?
That's enough!
Jiang Ling breathed a sigh of relief when she heard Cheng Fang stop her!
Cheng Jiaojiao reluctantly put the lid back on.
"That was fun! That was amazing! Thank you, Sister Jiang!"
"You're welcome."
Cheng Fang said, "Why do you, a girl, always like to play these things? Your mother has hired so many people to teach you needlework, why don't you study properly?"
“Our family has been distinguished for generations. Even the women are not confined to the small space of the backyard! My mother and aunt are better at horseback riding and marksmanship than at needlework, and I am naturally the same.” Cheng Jiaojiao struck a sword-practicing pose.
Cheng Fang resigned himself to his fate, "Fine, in your next life you'll be reborn as a man!"
"Why must we be limited to being men? Women can also accomplish great things!"
Just as Cheng Fang was about to retort, he heard Jiang Ling's voice.
"Miss Cheng is right! She truly deserves to be called the daughter of a military family!"
Cheng Jiaojiao exclaimed with delight, "I knew Sister Jiang would understand me!"
She believed that Jiang Ling was a young lady who had escaped from a large family and had the same rebellious mentality as her.
He became more polite and friendly towards Jiang Ling.
Looking at Jiang Ling's expression, Cheng Fang's words choked in his throat, "Fine, I can't compete with the two of you."
Although we didn't get any cosmetics this time, we did get some lamps and tinder.
Cheng Jiaojiao was even happier than she had expected.
Jiang Ling was happy to have sold some more items.
"Hey, what's this?"
Cheng Jiaojiao saw the leftover ice cream on the table, which had melted into water, but still had a sweet aroma.
"This is called ice cream. It's icy cold and is a summer dessert. Would Miss Cheng like to try some?"
"Okay, okay!" Cheng Jiaojiao, like a well-behaved girl, immediately sat on the stool and waited to be fed.
"Sister Jiang is my brother's friend, you can just call me Jiaojiao from now on."
"Okay, Jiaojiao."
Cheng Fang couldn't resist the food and sat down opposite Cheng Jiaojiao.
"Then please give me one too, Miss Jiang. I'm a little thirsty."
He had been wandering through the streets and alleys of Beijing for the past few days, but he still couldn't find the taste of Jixiang General Store.
He was so hungry that he had no choice but to try his luck, which shows that he was quite fortunate.
"Okay, I'll be right there."
Jiang Ling placed two vanilla cups in front of them and then took away the remaining boxes.
The vanilla cup, just taken out of the refrigerator, was still emitting cold air.
Cheng Jiaojiao was the first to scoop out a spoonful and put it in her mouth.
The cool and soft texture instantly fills your mouth!
She was so cold she shivered!
"Wow, it's so refreshing! It's even better than the ice cream at Mingyuefang!"
Cheng Fang also took a bite, feeling the icy ice cream slide down his esophagus and into his stomach.
A feeling of instant refreshment washed over me!
"As expected, everything in Miss Jiang's shop is extraordinary!"
Jiang Ling smiled and said, "This stuff tastes best in the summer, but you can't eat too much of it, or you'll get sick."
Seeing them eating with relish, Jiang Ling also felt hungry.
Looking up, I realized it was already lunchtime.
But it's inconvenient for her to cook when there are outsiders around.
Suddenly I remembered that there were still a few boxes of self-heating hot pot in the shop.
Then we've decided to have self-heating hot pot!
Before long, they had finished eating.
I had just finished eating when I saw Jiang Ling fiddling with a bunch of boxes.
Based on Cheng Fang's experience, it must be food.
"Miss Jiang, what is that?"
"This is called a self-heating hot pot. It's the perfect summer treat to eat this with a soft drink. I'll let you try it in a bit."
"Since Miss Jiang says it's delicious, then you must try it! Do you need my help?"
Jiang Ling opened the three boxes and looked at the instructions inside.
"Okay, then please help me unpack these two boxes of heating packs, put them back in the box, and pour some water in."
Cheng Fang did as instructed.
Cheng Jiaojiao also came over, "Sister Jiang, what is a self-heating hot pot? These things look raw, do we need to cook them over a fire? I'll help you light the fire!"
Ever since Cheng Jiaojiao got a lighter, she wants to light everything she sees.
As Jiang Ling poured water, she said, "No need, this thing will heat up on its own, and it will be cooked in a little while."
"It gets a fever on its own?" Not only was Cheng Jiaojiao shocked, but Cheng Fang was also shocked.
Is there anything in this world that can be cooked without a fire?
No sooner had he finished speaking than the water in the box began to boil!
"Wow! What's going on!" Startled, Cheng Fang took several steps back and quickly shielded Cheng Jiaojiao behind him.
