Chapter 109 This must be a honey trap

Chapter 109 This must be a honey trap

The more she spoke, the more desolate she became. Reason and emotion were constantly at odds, and in the end, Xie Mingyi could no longer laugh. "Can't you not go? Just stay by our side, stay here with us properly." Don't die.

Xie Huaijin remained kneeling, his voice somewhat muffled but firm and powerful, "Your mind is made up, I beg you to grant my request."

When do we depart?

"I'll leave tomorrow."

Everyone looked sad. After a long while, Xie's father waved his hand weakly, "Then so be it."

"The child has grown up and is becoming disobedient, my wife. Look at him," Xie's father said, his back hunched as he left.

Xie Mianmian pouted and ran to Xie Huaijin, who had already stood up from the ground.

The child clung tightly to Xie Huaijin's leg, sobbing, "Third Brother, please don't go!" War is dangerous; she's scared.

A familiar large hand patted the child's head, and Xie Huaijin chuckled, "Good boy, this is an adult's matter."

Xie Mianmian wiped her eyes with a pitiful expression. Every time she said no, no, the adults never listened to her.

Thinking of this, the child was both angry and anxious, and kept hitting Xie Huaijin with his little fists.

He could only keep comforting Xie Mianmian, his rough hands gently wiping away the child's tears.

As night fell and the cicadas chirped all around, Xie Huaijin left the mansion and rode his horse towards Yueya Garden.

Ever since that day at Fohua Temple, when he and Bai Yun joined forces to subdue those villains, Xie Huaijin felt that there was something wrong with this woman, so he went to Yueya Garden every few days and even specially asked Bai Yun to accompany him for meals.

He would always order a feast and a pot of fine wine.

Bai Yun knew perfectly well that this person was testing her, but every time Xie Huaijin sent a waiter to find her, Bai Yun would come.

The two would sit facing each other, usually just eating and drinking. Xie Huaijin, in particular, would drink with great gusto, as if he had just invited a close female friend to keep him company.

With his sharply defined jaw tilted back and his Adam's apple bobbing, he downed another glass of strong liquor.

"Why is it that I've come so many times, but I've never seen Miss Bai come down from the stage to dance?"

Bai Yun swallowed the roast goose in her mouth. She was too tired from practicing dance today and hadn't had time to eat. She was really hungry.

"Your Excellency may not know this, but Bai Yun is now the head of the teaching department and will no longer be performing dances outside of school."

That invitation to Xie Mianmian and the others was my last dance at Yueya Garden, what a pity...

"Oh? That's a real shame. Does that mean no one will ever have the chance to appreciate Miss Bai's dance again?"

Xie Huaijin sighed inwardly, realizing he had never seen her dance before. He had only heard that such a dance could only exist in heaven, and he longed to see it for himself.

“No, I’ll demonstrate for the dancers when I’m teaching.” Bai Yun looked intently at Xie Huaijin and said softly, “I’ll also dance for my husband in the future.”

Xie Huaijin lowered his head slightly and remained silent; he had actually passed out from his drunkenness.

Bai Yun relaxed her tightly clenched hands, and after a while, she moved.

Xie Huaijin chuckled inwardly as he sensed Bai Yun getting closer to him.

The fox is finally about to show his tail. He wants to see what this woman wants from him, who she really is, and what she really wants to do.

A pleasant fragrance of cosmetics wafted into his nostrils. Xie Huaijin gripped the sword at his waist, and the next moment, a soft substance landed on the corner of his lips.

Her handsome brows furrowed; she had actually kissed herself?

Xie Huaijin's heart began to beat irregularly. "Damn it, this must be a honey trap," he thought.

Bai Yun slightly distanced herself, her shimmering eyes fixed on Xie Huaijin.

Bai Yun left Shanzhanlou secretly. She came to the capital alone to make her way in the world. On her way to Fohua Temple that day, she discovered that bandits in the mountains were kidnapping innocent women.

As a member of Shanzhanlou, how could I stand by and watch someone die? But I never expected that my mediocre skills would be of little use. Instead of saving the person, I was captured.

Fortunately, Xie Huaijin arrived. He was highly skilled in martial arts and incredibly brave. With a single arrow, he killed the thief who had attacked her, pinning him to the doorframe.

From then on, Bai Yun could only have Xie Huaijin in her eyes, that dashing and unrestrained handsome young man.

Bai Yun extended her fair and delicate fingers and gently smoothed Xie Huaijin's furrowed brows.

The falling flowers are full of affection, but the flowing water is heartless.

"It's alright," Bai Yun sighed and left.

The soft, fragrant, wide sleeves of his robe brushed against Xie Huaijin's face. The moment the door to the room closed, he opened his eyes, his eyes showing no trace of drunkenness.

He sat quietly, no longer drinking, just pursing his thin lips, occasionally raising his fingers and then lowering them again.

Damn it, it was a honey trap.

While thinking about what had happened last time, Xie Huaijin pulled on the reins with one hand, and soon they arrived at Yueya Garden.

I'm about to go and fight the Japanese pirates, and there are some things I need to explain.

He casually tossed the riding whip into the waiter's arms and said, "Please ask Miss Bai Yun to come here."

The waiter cursed inwardly, but smiled respectfully on the surface, "Reporting to you, sir, Miss Bai has already left."

"When will you be back?" He doesn't have much time; he'll be leaving tomorrow.

"What I mean is that Miss Bai has already left Yueya Garden and her whereabouts are unknown."

Xie Huaijin silently took back the riding whip and left without saying a word.

He looked up at the pale moon in the sky, then mounted his horse and returned to his residence.

The old servant at the gate looked puzzled as he watched the young master ride away excitedly, only to return shortly afterward, radiating a chilling aura that kept strangers at bay.

Is he troubled by the Japanese pirates? The old servant does not know.

The next morning, while it was still dark, Xie Huaijin, sword in hand, stepped into the carriage, but as soon as he entered, he sensed something was wrong.

Xie Huaijin lifted the wooden board under his seat, revealing Xie Mianmian inside. She had probably been waiting for a long time; the little bundle was curled up inside, fast asleep.

He smiled faintly and shook his head. It was so absurd, just like that day when he was escorting the delegation to welcome the Northern Rong into the city, and the child had appeared abruptly on the back of the fiery horse.

Xie Huaijin bent down and gently picked up Xie Mianmian in his arms. Before they even left the carriage, the child struggled for a moment and then woke up.

Xie Mianmian pouted, "If Third Brother is leaving, then take Mianmian with him. Mianmian wants to stand with Third Brother through thick and thin!"

Xie Huaijin pinched the child's chubby cheeks, "What else can you do besides eat?"

Xie Mianmian paused for a moment, wanting to say that she could command the sharks in the sea to bite those Japanese pirates until they screamed, but then she hesitated again, realizing that she probably couldn't use her abilities anymore and would die.

She clenched her fists. If she had to choose between her third brother and herself to live, she would choose the third brother…

"Ouch!" Xie Mianmian cried out in pain, clutching her forehead.

It turned out that Xie Huaijin, seeing her bitter and resentful look, bent his knuckles and tapped the disobedient little head.
