Chapter 143 The Crown Prince is Going Mad

Chapter 143 The Crown Prince is Going Mad

"Your third sister is dead, that's all. Who else could have killed her but herself? But she was lucky to have left behind a child, look."

The Crown Prince stiffly withdrew his hand that was pointing at the Seventh Prince. Dead hand, no, dead mouth.

He pursed his lips guiltily and cautiously turned around, only to see his father, the emperor, with an angry expression.

The fifth prince stood up abruptly, his silver jewelry making a crisp sound.

Xie Mianmian gasped in surprise. The Fifth Prince was so tall and imposing that the child instinctively moved away, afraid that the fierce Fifth Prince would beat the Crown Prince until his teeth bled.

After all, the crown prince really deserved to be punished.

The tall and imposing fifth prince, with his dark skin, took a few steps forward, then stopped as if to restrain himself.

This gave the emperor a slight sense of relief. Despite his anger, he had just been planning to send his guards out to rescue the man, lest this ignorant and rebellious son be beaten to death. Fortunately, Xiao Yao's younger brother was a reasonable person.

The Fifth Prince stared intently at the Seventh Prince, but then asked the Crown Prince, "Is what you said true?"

"What I found out is absolutely genuine, far more real than your gleaming fake silver. I believe Seventh Brother has already found out about this, right? That portrait of a concubine, whose scale rivals that of the Emperor and Empress, didn't it scare Seventh Brother to death?"

No matter how much the crown prince tried to cover his mouth, it was too late. He realized that his words were like a torrent, unstoppable.

Oh no, I really am possessed by a female ghost!

The seventh prince was both shocked and angry, and asked in a cold voice, "Why did you do this?"

"Of course, it's to watch the show. I want to see if my seventh brother, who is always as calm as a block of wood, will cause a huge scene with the emperor after he finds out that his birth mother's death is related to the emperor, and then betray the Great Zhou and turn to that useless little country, the Western Barbarians?"

Even if my seventh brother doesn't know how, it's okay. I will guide him slowly.

The prince became more and more excited as he spoke, and he was already somewhat deranged. He ignored the angry expressions of the crowd and how he would deal with the aftermath.

He felt incredibly liberated. It was so satisfying to just blurt out his innermost thoughts, regardless of whether others or himself lived or died!

Cool!

The Crown Prince then said to the Fifth Prince, "I am truly disappointed in you. You are utterly useless. You should have just sent troops to attack us directly, and then I could have had some fun with the Western Barbarians."

As he spoke, the prince burst into laughter, seemingly finding it very amusing, laughing until tears streamed down his face.

He considered himself a figure who could manipulate events with a single hand, living a carefree life and treating the Great Zhou Dynasty as his plaything.

His current madness has turned into a farcical one-man show for everyone to watch.

The emperor strode down, waving his wide yellow robe sleeves, and with a "smack," a large hand slapped the crown prince's frenzied face to the side, the sound echoing in the hall.

"Treason!"

But the crown prince was still laughing, though it sounded like he was laughing through tears.

Xie Mianmian hid behind the Seventh Prince, anxiously watching. Would the medicine's effects also have an expiration date? She needed to find out as soon as possible.

A soft, childlike voice suddenly rang out, "So, it was you who wanted to harm the Xie family?"

Before he could finish speaking, the Crown Prince interrupted, "That's right, it was I who sent assassins to kill you on the night of the Ghost Festival. What a pity, you are so lucky to have survived."

"What? It was you! Oh, you're so mean! Why did you kill Mianmian?!" Xie Mianmian jumped up and down in anger.

The Crown Prince gazed at Xie Mianmian with a melancholy expression. "If you are the chosen one of destiny for the world, then who am I, the Crown Prince of the Great Zhou? When you grow up, all the people will love and respect you and build a shrine for you. Where will I be then?"

He pounded his chest violently, then proudly raised his head, "In the future, only I will be the true Son of Heaven! Hahahaha!"

"You've gone mad!" the emperor roared. "You unfilial son! Since your birth, you've had a smooth life. Ask yourself honestly, the Empress and I have taught you so well, how could you have become so insane, perverse, and unpredictable!"

As the emperor continued his tirade, he clutched his aching heart tightly with his right hand, startling Desheng, who had just returned from the kitchen, who rushed over and frantically called for the Imperial Physician.

The crown prince's eyes were bloodshot as he angrily said, "It's all your fault! Did you even ask me before you brought me into this world? I've been living this boring life of luxury for over twenty years now, who wouldn't be tired of it!"

Looking into the emperor's eyes, which were practically spitting fire, the crown prince uttered these final words: "Especially since Father Emperor is still healthy, I'm afraid I'll be the crown prince for several more decades. I can see the end of my life before I open or close my eyes. Do you know how desperate I am?!"

After hearing this, the emperor could no longer hold back. He wanted to see what his most valued child had said.

Little did he know that he, the most kind and benevolent crown prince, harbored such resentment towards himself.

The emperor's straight back became hunched, and with eyes closed in grief and confusion, he fainted.

"Your Majesty! Guards! Seize this person who has angered Your Majesty to the point of fainting!"

The highly skilled guards seized the crown prince, who gave up struggling and was silently led away by the guards.

The group escorted the emperor to his couch in the inner room.

While pinching the emperor's philtrum, Desheng shouted, "Why hasn't the chief minister arrived yet!"

The Seventh Prince and Xie Mianmian stood by his side, looking at the Emperor with concern. "Uncle Huang, everything will be alright. Please wake up soon."

The Fifth Prince, standing to the side, crossed his arms and watched the whole scene with amusement. He shook his head and clicked his tongue, thinking that the mighty Zhou Dynasty was doomed.

Soon, the imperial physician rushed over. He carefully took the emperor's pulse and said, "Your Majesty was so angry that you fainted before you could recover. I will prepare some medicine for you, and you will recover after drinking it. For now, Your Majesty should rest well."

Hearing the academy envoy's words, everyone felt much more at ease and decided to leave, leaving only Desheng to wait there.

But at some point, the emperor on the bed opened his eyes and stared straight at the ceiling. His voice became weary and weak, "Everyone, go out. Xiao Qi, stay."

Xie Mianmian squeezed the Seventh Prince's hand reassuringly before leaving with the others.

She planned to wait for the Seventh Prince outside, but she didn't know anyone here, so she could only follow his uncle—that dark-skinned man.

The fifth prince was enjoying the beautiful flowers in the small garden when he noticed a little boy staring at him out of the corner of his eye.

He said unfriendly, "What does the princess want to do?"

Xie Mianmian looked at his exquisite silver headband and said softly, "You're handsome, Mianmian wants to follow you."

"Tsk, little brat."

"Fifth Prince, can Mianmian wear all these jingling ornaments?" She wanted to have a set too.

"No way," he said firmly.

"Then even the Seventh Prince isn't suitable?"

So fierce, would she even scold her own nephew?
