Chapter 45 He's clearly not a good person.
The horses' hooves clattered on the bluestone bricks, and after turning a corner, we arrived at the main street entrance of Sipingfang.
It was almost evening, and red lanterns were gradually lit in front of the tall and elegant shops on both sides of the street. As the lights came on, they illuminated the smiling faces of the passersby.
Xie Mianmian looked around curiously. The street was bustling with people, mostly groups of young people or families in a warm atmosphere.
There were also many food stalls on the street, selling wontons, baked cakes, sweet drinks, and cherry biscuits. The child took a deep sniff, swallowed, and felt hungry.
Xie Huaijin gently tapped the child's forehead with his knuckles and laughed, "Little glutton, there will be plenty of delicious food waiting for you when we get there."
There were too many people, so he dismounted and planned to walk by the reins, but it was too unsafe to leave Xie Mianmian, a child, on the horse.
Xie Huaijin thought for a moment, then reached out and pinched the child's armpit, lifting her up so that Xie Mianmian could sit on his shoulders.
The child lost his balance and leaned back, quickly grabbing his third brother's head before bursting into laughter.
The further they walked, the more people there were. Xie Mianmian noticed that people were all gathered together as if watching something exciting.
As they walked over, they saw three large swords twirling back and forth in mid-air, falling down, then being precisely caught by a pair of large hands, and then tossed back up, repeating the cycle.
Xie Mianmian was stunned. She unconsciously patted Xie Huaijin's head and cheered loudly along with the people around her, "Bravo!"
"Wow, that's amazing! My third brother can also throw a sword," she thought to herself.
Further ahead, a woman with a supple body was playing with a large jar. She was half-lying down, and a heavy jar rolled from the back of her left hand, over her back, and slid to the back of her right hand.
Wow, that's amazing! I doubt my second sister could do that.
Xie Huaijin continued walking forward, while Xie Mianmian still turned her head to look at the woman playing with the jar.
Suddenly, a wave of intense heat surged towards her.
Xie Mianmian let out a cry and bent down, turning around to look. She found a big man who had taken a sip of an unknown liquid but hadn't swallowed it; he just held it in his mouth, his cheeks puffing out like a frog's.
He then raised the torch and gestured to the crowd, who applauded and cheered in anticipation.
The burly man slowly approached the torch, and with a "poof!" he spat all the liquid in his mouth onto the torch.
In an instant, a giant fire dragon emerged above the torch, casting a fiery red glow on the child's face in the dim light. She gasped in astonishment.
If Xie Huaijin hadn't dodged in time, the fire dragon would have singed off Xie Mianmian's eyebrows.
This is impressive too. My older brother should be able to do it. He always has a cold face, but if he suddenly spews out a ball of fire from his mouth, it will definitely amaze everyone.
When their family goes to the streets to perform, the eldest brother will breathe fire, the second sister will balance a vase on her head, and the third brother will wield a sword. They'll definitely be very popular, haha. As for me, I'll just be responsible for holding the gong and collecting money.
Xie Mianmian's thoughts were a jumbled mess, and when she thought of something funny, she would unconsciously pat Xie Huaijin's head.
Xie Huaijin remained expressionless. He had gotten used to it by now, treating his head like a cold melon, letting the child pat it to see if it was cooked.
Before long, they arrived at their destination, Yueya Garden.
This is a magnificent and grand restaurant, three stories high, with lanterns hanging all over the outside and bright lights inside, with light gauze fluttering, extremely elegant.
Xie Huaijin handed the reins to the waiter outside the building, took the child's hand, and stepped inside.
A waiter approached and respectfully asked, "How many of you are there, sir? Do you have any invitations?"
"I have an appointment with Miss Bai Yun."
The waiter was secretly taken aback. He checked the books nearby and found that it was indeed true.
Bai Yun is the top dancer in the building, with graceful movements. She recently choreographed a dance that will be performed tonight.
It's no exaggeration to say that all the guests tonight are here for Miss Bai Yun.
He had been secretly following Bai Yun for so long, and had never seen her have much contact with other men. This was the first time he had seen her having an appointment with someone else.
The waiter sized up the person in front of him with resentment. He was indeed a handsome young man with an elegant demeanor, and he felt inferior to him.
The waiter forced a smile and gestured, "Please follow me, sir."
He walked ahead in small steps, leading the way, thinking to himself, "This man actually brought a little girl with him. Tsk tsk, the Moon Elegance Garden at night is a mixed bag. Bringing a child to a place like this to mingle, he must not be a good person. Maybe she is this man's child."
Miss Bai Yun has met the wrong man! The waiter was both jealous and heartbroken.
The waiter led them to a private room on the second floor, opened the door, and said, "Please have a seat, guests. Fine wine and food will be served shortly."
Just then, the door to the adjacent room was opened by a servant, and through the crack in the door, Xie Mianmian saw a person sitting upright inside.
The child excitedly ran to the next room, but Xie Huaijin quickly grabbed Xie Mianmian by the back of her collar.
Where are you going?
Xie Mianmian bounced around a few times on the spot, then looked up at her third brother and said, "Mianmian saw the Seventh Prince inside."
The young prince from the palace actually appeared at Yueya Tower in Sipingfang at night?
Xie Huaijin, holding his younger sister's hand, knocked on the door of the next room with a puzzled look.
The door opened a crack, and a man poked his head out. He was fair-skinned and beardless; it was none other than Eunuch Li.
"Oh my, it's Young Master Xie and Miss Xie! Please allow me to give you an explanation and wait a moment." Upon seeing them, Eunuch Li was overjoyed.
After a while, Eunuch Li reopened the door and welcomed them inside.
The seventh prince was sitting at the octagonal table, listlessly drinking a cup of sweet water.
Sitting opposite the Seventh Prince was none other than the Crown Prince.
Xie Huaijin, with the child in tow, bowed deeply and said, "Xie Huaijin, General of the Imperial Guard, greets Your Highness the Crown Prince."
The young man, dressed in a light yellow brocade robe, put down his wine cup with a jade thumb ring on his hand. "No need for formalities. Now that you're on duty, there's no need to be so reserved."
Xie Huaijin stood up. "Thank you, Your Highness."
Xie Mianmian ran up to the Seventh Prince and asked, "Seventh Prince, are you here to play too?"
The seventh prince nodded.
From the age of three, he was raised by the Empress and became even closer to his elder brother, the Crown Prince. He did not know who his birth mother was, and her existence was a closely guarded secret in the palace.
Only Aunt Lan, who lived in the Cold Palace, knew something about his birth mother, so he often went to Aunt Lan's courtyard.
But Aunt Lan always looked at him with complicated eyes, often seeming a little dazed, as if she were looking through him at someone from the past.
Aunt Lan, however, was unwilling to say more.
Today, when the Crown Prince left the palace, the Empress took his hand and led him to the Crown Prince's carriage, scolding him, "Take Xiao Qi out to play and cultivate your relationship. What kind of brothers are so distant with each other?"
So the Seventh Prince was taken to this side room in Yueya Garden, where he stared at his elder brother, the Crown Prince, and found it amusing, as it seemed that this wouldn't cultivate much affection between them.
Xie Huaijin cupped his hands in greeting to the Crown Prince, saying, "We won't disturb Your Highnesses any longer." After saying goodbye, he took the child and left.
Before leaving, Xie Mianmian winked at the Seventh Prince, indicating that she would come to play with him later.
They returned to the room Bai Yun had prepared for them. As soon as they entered, they saw that the elaborately crafted octagonal table made of fine sandalwood was already fully laden with delicious food.
The delicate steamed dumplings are translucent and exquisite, while the slices of roast suckling pig are as thin as cicada wings, with the skin roasted to a golden and crispy perfection.
There was also a seafood dish, which was doused with boiling hot oil. Xie Mianmian carefully picked up a piece of snow-white fish, dipped it in the soy sauce mixed with the aroma of scallions, ginger, and garlic in the plate, and couldn't wait to put it in her mouth. It was an explosion of flavor on her taste buds, melting in her mouth.
One word: Delicious!
Xie Mianmian happily ate the delicious food on the table.
Sister Baiyun (chewing) is so good to Mianmian (tilting her head back and drinking a glass of sweet and sour juice).
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
