Chapter 49 It's all I see is you

Chapter 49 It only sees you

"No!" came a desperate cry.

The seventh prince arrived in a hurry with two guards. When he pushed open the door, he saw a pair of feet hanging upside down in mid-air.

His eyes widened in horror as he watched Xie Mianmian fall!

Xie Mianmian was caught off guard and fell downstairs. She closed her eyes tightly in fear, and heard the sound of wind rushing through her ears.

Suddenly, the child felt a tightness around his waist, and he seemed to freeze in mid-air.

Xie Mianmian was puzzled. What was going on?

She slowly opened her eyes and found a light pink rope wrapped around her waist. Looking up along the rope, she saw a pair of lake-green eyes.

Oh, it's a giant python!

The python coiled its tail around the child, slowly pulled her up, and then gently placed her back into the room.

As soon as Xie Mianmian's feet touched the ground, she was enveloped in a deep embrace.

The child seemed a little lost, his feet slightly off the ground, and his upper body leaning back under the force.

Feeling the warm, damp water dripping onto her neck, Xie Mianmian was somewhat taken aback. She tried to hug the person back with her hands hanging at her sides, but her arms were held so tightly that she couldn't move.

"Mianmian is alright." But as she spoke, the child's mouth twitched, the corners of her mouth turned down, and she burst into tears.

The two children hugged each other tightly, one quietly shedding tears, the other wailing loudly, both crying their eyes out.

The two guards arrested the scholar who had taken the Five-Stone Powder. I heard that he was in a terrible state afterward. First, his status as a Juren (a successful candidate in the provincial civil service examination) was revoked, and he was banned from taking the imperial examinations for life.

Then, because of his addiction to Wushisan (a type of drug), his plot to harm the children of court officials, and his disturbance of the prince, he was punished for multiple crimes. He was first tortured several times in prison by the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Justice, and then sentenced to immediate execution.

I heard that a General of the Imperial Guard once sneaked in and gave the man a good beating, but I don't know what personal grudge it was.

Eunuch Li led the children back to their original room and poured them a cup of hot tea to calm their nerves.

Xie Mianmian sipped her tea slowly, the warmth instantly spreading throughout her body.

Looking downstairs at the still joyous scene of singing and dancing, no one knew that the child had just experienced such a dangerous situation.

Having just had a good cry, Xie Mianmian felt much better. She secretly glanced at the Seventh Prince and whispered in his ear, "Your Highness cried just now?"

"Shut up," the cold-faced child said.

Xie Mianmian stopped talking and turned to look at the giant python facing the wall.

The child took a plate of meat, placed it in front of the giant python, and stroked its slightly lowered head. "Thank you for saving Mianmian earlier. Have you eaten? Are you hungry?"

Seeing that the child didn't ask how it got there, the python breathed a sigh of relief, then nodded sadly, "Hungry, hungry, food."

Ever since Xie Mianmian returned from her spring hunt, the giant python had keenly sensed that something was wrong. Its two nostrils were not to be trifled with; it could smell that the child had a different wolf scent!

The python was very sad when it realized that the child was with wolves. If other wolves could live with the child, why couldn't it?

During this time, the giant python secretly escaped and, under the cover of night, silently traversed the dark sewers, dilapidated courtyards, dimly lit alleys, and unnoticed rooftops, shuttling back and forth between the palace and the Xie residence.

Today at the animal park, the giant python heard that Xie Mianmian would be going out to play tonight, and it was really worried, so it secretly followed her before dark.

Its enormous body must have been quite a feat; it had traveled a long way to get here. It stood guard on the rooftop and thankfully rescued the child.

Xie Mianmian poured the food into the giant python's mouth, and it chewed happily, devouring all the leftovers on the table.

"How did you end up here?" Xie Mianmian finally asked the question.

Its tail tip stiffened instantly. It remained silent for a long time, then pointed to its own vital spot, and then to the child.

Finally, the tip of its tail circled around Xie Mianmian's waist, bringing her close to itself, and its round head gently rubbed against the child's shoulder.

Xie Mianmian couldn't help but reach out and hug the giant python. It felt cool and smooth to the touch. Although the python couldn't speak, the child could feel its intense affection.

She thought the python was so docile. Although she had never owned a dog, she figured that a well-behaved dog would probably be like a python.

Who can resist their darling who fills their heart and eyes?

At this moment, Xie Huaijin returned. As soon as he opened the door, he saw an albino giant python standing next to the table.

He realized he must have stepped in with his left foot first, so he stepped back outside, closed the door, and then stepped in with his right foot.

The huge one is still there.

Xie Huaijin took a deep breath and asked the child, "How did it get here?" When did giant pythons become allowed to freely enter and leave the palace?

"Don't be mean to it, it's very well-behaved, it just came to play with Mianmian." The child made no mention of the danger and rescue that had just occurred.

The little one learned the first lesson of adulthood without being taught—to only share good news with family members and not bad.

"Knock knock." A knocking sound came from outside the door.

Xie Mianmian held the giant python by the tail and hid it in the inner room.

"Enter."

The door was pushed open, and Bai Yun walked in. She had just finished her work and rushed over. Fortunately, the adults had not yet left.

She curtsied to everyone and asked softly, "Greetings, gentlemen. I wonder if the food and wine suit your tastes?"

This is a meal carefully selected by Bai Yun to suit children's tastes.

Xie Mianmian jogged over and took Bai Yun's hand, "It's so delicious, Mianmian loves it!"

Looking at the completely empty plate, Bai Yun touched the child's belly in surprise, hoping he hadn't eaten too much.

Xie Huaijin laughed heartily: "I have thoroughly enjoyed the fine wine and food today. Thank you for your hospitality, Miss Bai."

"Then Bai Yun can rest assured." She bit her lip and asked nervously, "Did the master see Bai Yun's dance?"

Xie Huaijin clapped his hands and exclaimed in admiration, "Absolutely gorgeous! Miss Bai Yun's dance truly lives up to its reputation."

Hearing his praise, Bai Yun unconsciously smiled, her cheeks slightly flushed.

"Especially that blue-green dress, Miss Bai looked absolutely stunning in it," Xie Huaijin added.

Hearing this, Xie Mianmian winked at her third brother, signaling him to shut up.

Bai Yun's face turned deathly pale in an instant. She lowered her head and said in a trembling voice, "I understand. Thank you all for gracing me with your presence today. I would like to thank you again for saving my life."

As she spoke, she bowed deeply.

"Without disturbing your enjoyment, I, Bai Yun, will take my leave."

She then left, but as she turned away, a pale white substance seemed to slide down her cheek.

Xie Huaijin turned his head and found his little sister glaring at him angrily. "What's wrong?" He hadn't provoked the child.

"You naughty third brother, why do you say you watched Bai Yun dance when you didn't even see her dance!"

Xie Huaijin crossed his arms. "Tsk, young girls need to be coaxed, you don't understand."

Xie Mianmian jumped up in anger and stomped on Xie Huaijin's brocade boots.

"Sister Bai Yun came on stage later; she was wearing a moon-white dress!"

Xie Huaijin was taken aback.
