Chapter 57 He even dares to hit a prince!
Using her sleeve as cover, Xie Mingyi forcefully pulled off the upper part of the hairpin, revealing the sharp object inside.
It is a small, double-edged sword.
Soon, Xie Mingyi's back was pushed back against the railing.
"Please stop, Your Highness. Do not come any closer. I will say it again: there is absolutely no possibility between us in this lifetime, not even the slightest possibility."
The third prince shook his head, indicating that he wouldn't listen, and looked at her with a doting gaze, saying, "Look, you've been naughty again."
Xie Mingyi gripped the small sword tightly in her hand, staring coldly at him. If he wanted to do something to her, she would not hesitate.
Xie Mingyi stretched her neck and wrists. If the Third Prince couldn't understand human speech, she knew a little about martial arts.
Upon discovering that Xie Mingyi seemed to be shyly waiting for him to come over, the Third Prince was overjoyed. Sure enough, women are just pretentious; a little coaxing is all it takes to win them over.
Wouldn't that mean I could have all sorts of beauties in my arms every day, take them into my room, and use their families' influence for my own purposes?
He could rule the country without any effort. The more he thought about it, the more excited the Third Prince became. His eyes turned bloodshot and he raised his arms slightly to embrace Xie Mingyi.
One step, two steps.
Xie Mingyi calculated how far he would go before making her move, secretly gesturing as she plunged the small sword into the acupoint on his arm. He wouldn't die, but he would be in excruciating pain.
The floating footsteps drew closer, and Xie Mingyi squinted, her hands about to make a move.
At this moment, a lithe figure rushed up from the side and kicked the Third Prince to the ground with a "Hey!"
"Ah!" The Third Prince's forehead slammed hard against the deck.
Then the man rode on the Third Prince's back and beat the person beneath him, each punch landing squarely.
As the boy continued to beat her, he shouted angrily, "In broad daylight, under the clear sky, how dare you bully a weak woman? Are you even a man? You're a scumbag, an animal, worse than a pig or a dog!"
Things happened so fast that Xie Mingyi didn't even have time to be surprised before the young man had already punched the Third Prince several times.
She quickly stepped forward and pulled the boy away, saying, "Stop hitting him, this has nothing to do with you, get up."
Xie Mingyi pulled the boy up and found him to be very familiar. He was the same guy who had sold mechanical items at a stall opposite the bookstore last time.
He clearly possessed great strength, capable of pinning a man several years his senior to the ground and beating him mercilessly. However, when Xie Mingyi grabbed his sleeve, He Chuan was easily pulled away with a gentle tug.
But when he got up, He Chuan didn't forget to kick the Third Prince a few times.
"Since I've seen such a wicked person, I won't stand idly by!"
Xie Mingyi noticed that the Third Prince was still lying on the ground groaning, not looking up at the people who had hit him, and there were only the three of them around.
Xie Mingyi quickly pulled He Chuan behind her, saying, "Don't let him see your face." She didn't want the Third Prince to take his anger out on the boy.
He Chuan hadn't fully grown up yet, and was only a little over half a head taller than Xie Mingyi. He looked at the woman in front of him and said, "If you want to hit me, then hit me. I'll take responsibility for my actions and have no regrets."
Xie Mingyi just told him to leave quickly, "If you don't leave, I'll get angry." What a reckless young man, daring to hit even a prince when he's just a commoner.
Xie Mingyi had only ever said things like "I'll get angry" to children because she was used to it, and it just slipped out of her mouth. She never expected that the boy in front of her would actually take it to heart.
He Chuan moved his lips but didn't speak. He walked back unwillingly, hiding in the shadows. If he saw Xie Mingyi in danger, he would still be the first to rush up.
Xie Mingyi gently kicked the Third Prince, who was still on the ground, and asked, "Third Prince, are you alright?"
"Hmm?" The Third Prince sat up groggily. He had bumped his forehead and his head was still spinning.
He felt extremely uncomfortable all over, and gritted his teeth, "Who hit me?"
Xie Mingyi frantically concocted several lies in his mind, and finally chose the one that was more convincing: that he had just suffered a sudden and serious illness.
Before he could speak, a man dressed in black quickly ran to the Third Prince's side and whispered a few words in his ear.
Xie Mingyi didn't know what the man in black said, but she knew that after hearing it, the Third Prince's face turned gloomy and his tone was fierce.
"Are you someone I've raised just to eat? Jump into the river and search for me right now!"
His birth mother was just an ordinary palace maid, and he had no family support. Without enough money, he faced great difficulties in the court.
The Third Prince was filled with remorse after discovering during the last spring hunt that he had unexpectedly missed out on a priceless treasure. He beat his chest and stamped his feet every day, lamenting how he had made such a mistake.
He finally managed to pull some strings and start selling Wushi San (a type of Chinese medicine), which was a quick way to make money. But then a monkey threw all the money he had worked so hard to earn into the river.
The Third Prince's indignant mind raced again. A monkey? Could he believe such an absurd thing? It was the people below who were starting to stir.
He smiled sinisterly, "If you don't find it for me, you'll spend the rest of your life as a monkey in a vat."
The man in black broke out in a cold sweat. He had done half his life of despicable things, but this was the first time he had ever felt such fear. What he had seen before, the thing in that vat, was a human pig.
The Third Prince seemed to be in a hurry. He had the man in black help him up and left in a hurry, without even giving Xie Mingyi a glance.
Xie Mingyi patted her chest, somewhat relieved that this trouble had come at just the right time; otherwise, things would have been much harder to resolve.
As she turned around, she discovered that the boy was already standing not far from her.
Didn't I tell you to leave?
"I'm worried that the villain might harm Miss." The young man scratched his head.
"How dare you, a commoner like yourself? Those high-ranking officials will come after you to settle scores and crush you with ease." This was the first time Xie Mingyi had ever met such a foolish person.
“The emperor is subject to the same laws as commoners. If what he did is wrong and comes looking for trouble with me, I will appeal to the emperor and see who is in the right,” He Chuan said solemnly.
Xie Mingyi shook his head inwardly. After all, he was a young man, naive and reckless, but unexpectedly passionate and upright.
"How did you end up on the ship?" Only royalty and noble families could board the ship; he was neither.
Could he have become someone's servant? No, the young man is still wearing the slightly tattered blue robe I saw him in the other day; he couldn't possibly be a servant.
The boy blushed slightly, his fingers unconsciously rubbing his clothes, accidentally poking a hole in them. He quickly covered his hand with his clothes to hide his pitiful pride.
Normally, no matter what happens, He Chuan can remain calm and composed in the face of ridicule and harassment from others.
But at this moment, he felt unusually embarrassed, and in front of the glamorous woman, he felt ashamed and tried to hide the holes in his clothes.
"I set up a stall on the boat."
Hearing that the ship was recruiting merchants, he brought his handicrafts with him, only to be spat on by the man, who said that his things were nothing but junk and told him to get lost.
