Chapter 8 He's the real culprit!

Chapter 8 He's a real killer!

Wow! Xie Mianmian was so scared that she ran away as if a dog was chasing her.

Xie Mianmian ran to a fork in the road, looking at the identical long alleys on both sides, feeling lost.

The child closed his eyes and began to chant, pointing his index finger in a direction with each word, counting back and forth little by little, "Mianmian can reach the crooked tree by walking this road."

left!

Without hesitation, Xie Mianmian ran wildly into the alley to the left.

At the corner at the end of the alley, a crooked tree grows in a cramped space.

Xie Mianmian looked up to look for the little fat bird, but found that the blue bird was busy on the dry, thick branches.

The chubby little bird spread its two beautiful wings and hopped and fluttered towards a slender, pretty little bird with a pale blue body.

The little bird, with its tiny, bean-sized eyes, calmly watched the chubby little bird preening itself, and then suddenly flew away without warning.

The little chubby bird stood frozen in place, its head and wings drooping dejectedly, and began to whine, "Why did it fly away? It was me! These beautiful blue feathers, this round and elegant figure, wasn't it satisfied?"

Although Xie Mianmian was anxious, she still awkwardly and patiently comforted her, "You are the luckiest little bird I have ever seen."

"Mianmian, she's my dream bird! I won't give up, chirp chirp chirp!" The chubby little bird perked up again, ready to fly in the direction where the little bird had just disappeared.

Xie Mianmian put her hands to her mouth and shouted at the bird's shadow in the air, "Where should I go next?"

"Walk forward to the ginkgo tree!"

Xie Mianmian looked in the direction the birds had gone, recalling their shapes, and scratched her head. "Can apples and bananas be together?"

The child could only continue walking forward, and the road became quiet again, dark and gloomy, with a cool breeze blowing from time to time.

Xie Mianmian clenched her little fists and ran with her head down. She encountered another fork in the road. This time, the child ran to the right. She ran a long way but did not see the ginkgo tree that the little fat bird had mentioned.

Pressing her pounding heart, Xie Mianmian ran back, the sound of her rapid breathing echoing in the long, quiet alley.

Xie Mianmian ran to a fork in the road and found that all three roads looked exactly the same. She couldn't tell which way she came from!

The child panicked and ran wildly in any direction, turning several corners and crossing several palace gates.

No, I still haven't seen any ginkgo trees!

Xie Mianmian was almost in tears. She kept running, not daring to look back. The road behind her became dark, as if countless demons and monsters were watching her from the shadows.

"Ouch!" Xie Mianmian accidentally fell down, but she didn't dare to cry. She silently got up and continued running.

After an unknown amount of time, Xie Mianmian turned a corner and was enveloped in light.

In front of me was a large open space, with a ginkgo tree in the middle that was taller than the red wall. Its branches and leaves were lush and golden sunlight fell on the ground through the layers of branches, forming scattered patches of light.

As the sounds of insects and birds gradually filled her ears, Xie Mianmian breathed in the fresh scent of grass and immediately relaxed.

Now you can cry, right? Xie Mianmian really wants to cry.

"Waaaaaah~"

"Shut up, you little crybaby." A childish voice rang out coldly.

Xie Mianmian sobbed, her teary eyes blinking as she looked at the person who had arrived.

He was a noble young master, dressed in a magnificent white brocade robe with gold thread, expressionless, holding a struggling tabby cat in his arms.

"Who are you?" Xie Mianmian forgot to cry and stared straight at the young master. He was so handsome, the most handsome child she had ever seen. Even with a dark face, he was still handsome.

"I am the Seventh Prince. What are you doing here, you dirty child? Ouch..." The tabby cat in the Seventh Prince's arms accidentally scratched him. "Xian Chan, don't move."

Xie Mianmian looked down at her skirt, which was now covered in black stains from the fall, and said without arguing, "Greetings, Your Highness. Mianmian is lost."

Seeing that the tabby cat seemed to be in pain, Xie Mianmian reached out her small hand and gently stroked its head. "Hello, little cat, what's wrong?"

Upon hearing this, the eight-year-old seventh prince scoffed, "You're asking a cat? Can a cat tell you?"

But the cat actually spoke, "My paw hurts so much, meow."

"Don't move, let me see." Xie Mianmian picked up the paw and examined it carefully.

The Seventh Prince frowned in displeasure, but seeing that Xie Mianmian seemed to understand, he didn't get angry.

Xie Mianmian found a small thorn on the kitten's pink paw pad, which was almost embedded in the flesh.

She gestured to the Seventh Prince, who hugged the tabby cat tightly. Xie Mianmian quickly pulled it away, and the tabby cat didn't even have time to meow before it was over. The two children were perfectly in sync.

The seventh prince put the cat down. The tabby cat shook its paw and tentatively stepped on it a few times, then realized it didn't hurt anymore. "Kind person, meow."

The seventh prince watched silently, pondered for a moment, and then said with certainty, "You are a veterinarian."

"Huh?" Xie Mianmian scratched her head. She could be a veterinarian, as long as he could take her back.

"Can you take me back?"

The Seventh Prince was in a good mood after resolving the tabby cat issue. He picked up the kitten, snorted, and said, "Come with me."

The chubby little bird perched on a branch, chirping at Xie Mianmian. Xie Mianmian waved at it and mouthed exaggeratedly, "I'll go back with him."

The chubby little bird tilted its head, took off, and went to chase after its mate.

Xie Mianmian followed the Seventh Prince through many twists and turns until they arrived at a familiar palace.

How...how did we end up in this terrifying place again?!

Before she could stop him, the Seventh Prince pushed open the door and was about to go in. Xie Mianmian could only grab his clothes, hide behind the Seventh Prince, and peek inside.

The yard is quite ordinary, except that it houses many cats, some of which stretch out their bodies to sharpen their claws on the tree trunks, which would indeed be a place that the little fat bird is very afraid of.

Upon seeing the newcomers, the cats immediately swarmed around them, and the Seventh Prince greeted them one by one, "Wuyun, Chiyu, Xiuhu..."

"Aunt Lan, I have brought Xian Chan back."

An old woman came out of the house. She was dressed in coarse cloth clothes that had been washed until they were faded. Her skin was loose, her eyes were sunken, and there were wrinkles around her eyes. However, her features were surprisingly beautiful and she had a great temperament. It made people sigh that time never defeats beauty.

"Thank you, Seventh Prince." Aunt Lan noticed that behind the Seventh Prince, who was usually alone, was a beautiful little girl.

She waved and said kindly, "Was that you outside the door just now? Don't be afraid." The Cold Palace is desolate and cold; don't frighten the little girl.

Upon seeing the beautiful woman, Xie Mianmian was no longer afraid. She walked out confidently and said, "Hello, Aunt Lan, Mianmian is not afraid."

The Seventh Prince glanced at her and asked, "Is she my Aunt Lan?"

Aunt Lan smiled and gave each person a small bag. Xie Mianmian opened it and found it full of sesame candy.

"Seventh Prince, please take the person back quickly, it's already very late."

The two children had no choice but to say goodbye.

The arrogant seventh prince walked ahead, with Xie Mianmian following closely behind, afraid of getting lost again.

Soon, they reached the path they had initially taken, and Xie Mianmian was filled with excitement. Suddenly, the figure in front of her stopped, and she nearly bumped into it.

The Seventh Prince took out an exquisite jade pendant and threw it into Xie Mianmian's arms, saying fiercely, "Don't tell anyone what happened just now, understand?"

Xie Mianmian hurriedly took the jade pendant, nodded blankly, and all she wanted to do was go home quickly. The palace was no fun at all, and she missed home.

Xie Mianmian finally escaped the cramped and towering palace walls. The Imperial Garden was still warm with spring sunshine, and children were gathered together, laughing and chatting, playing games like pitch-pot and archery. It seemed as if what she had just experienced was just a dream.

"Xie Mianmian, I've finally found you!"
