Chapter 1: Heaven's Daughter

Chapter 1: Heaven's Daughter

"Huh?"

Little Peach Blossom had just stolen Grandpa Ginseng's wine and taken a sip. The moment she opened her eyes, unfamiliar information flooded her mind, and the child was completely bewildered to discover—the world had changed! 1963?

She was a little panicked!

"Grandpa Ginseng?" No demon answered; everything remained quiet.

Suddenly, Little Peach Blossom became frightened and started crying, "Waaah, Little Peach Blossom will never drink again, never again, never again, hiccup, waaah, no, no spiritual energy, waaah..."

The cries carried far and wide, mournful and pitiful...

My voice is hoarse from crying. At first, I was scared, but later I was just heartbroken.

Just now, she received a strange message that told her she had come to a new world. This world had no demons she knew, not even spiritual energy. She was to live here for the rest of her life. The Heavenly Dao said that this was her tribulation.

Waaah, she didn't want it. She wanted to go home. She swore she would never secretly drink Grandpa Ginseng's wine again. It was bad stuff!

"My dear daughter, just hang in there a little longer. Life goes by very quickly. This tribulation will be over soon, and you will be able to ascend to immortality. Do you know how wonderful that is?"

"Hiccup, I... I want to go home."

"Very soon, very soon..." What can Heaven do? Of course, it will shower its daughter with compliments, hoping not to hurt her feelings.

"I still want to go home..."

“Listen to me, my daughter, this ordeal will be easy to get through, you won’t suffer.”

"I'm in the snow now, it's so cold."

The Heavenly Dao paused for a moment.

This wasn't his fault. Thinking of the culprit, the Heavenly Dao narrowed its unseen eyes—there's plenty of time!

They abandoned their daughter, and in this freezing cold! That family deserves to be unlucky for life!

"I still want to go home, waah..."

"My dear daughter, don't cry. Daddy will find you a good family, and you won't be cold anymore, okay..."

The little girl wouldn't listen...

"Guangsheng, can you hear a child crying?"

Lin Guangsheng listened carefully for a moment: "Let's go, over there."

"Where did this little kid come from in the middle of the night?"

Lin Guangsheng paused for a moment.

The woman realized what she was doing as soon as she spoke, and sighed helplessly: "When will this ever end?"

"It'll be soon," was the only consolation the man could offer.

"I hope so."

The two walked carefully through the snow. After a while, the woman suddenly said, "Guangsheng, why don't we take this child home?"

"Take it home?" Lin Guangsheng turned around in surprise.

“Yes, in the past, when we encountered them, we would send them to the town's police station, but those children…”

Lin Guangsheng fell silent as he thought about the children's plight.

"Guangsheng, we don't have any children anyway. Rather than let your parents and your brothers scheme against us, why don't we take one back ourselves?" The woman used to hope that the two of them would eventually have a child, but now, after experiencing too many disappointments, she had given up hope.

Lin Guangsheng remained silent for a long time before finally nodding: "I'll listen to you."

"Hey, I don't know if this child is a girl or a boy, but it's most likely a girl. A little girl is so good, such a sweet little cotton-padded jacket. From now on, the two of us will go everywhere together."

The woman kept rambling on, "Life is still too hard. Over the years, especially in the last two years, we've encountered so many children being abandoned. In the last two years, everyone is starving, not to mention children, even some adults are..."

"Yin Qing, you can only eat what you can handle. We can sympathize with others, but we can't let others ruin our own lives," the man reminded her.

"I understand, don't worry, Guang Sheng, I'm not that great." Yin Qing smiled. She had the necessary sympathy, but she wasn't without reason.

Lin Guangsheng also knew his wife's personality: "You've always been smart, it must have been hard for you to marry me."

Yin Qing smiled and said, "Then you'll have to side with us, mother and son, from now on."

Lin Guangsheng couldn't help but joke, "What if it's a boy?"

Yin Qing glared at him, saying, "You're just like me, the kid who'll protect his mother from now on."

"You're really good at planning," Lin Guangsheng laughed.

Yin Qing replied irritably, "Otherwise what?"

"My fault."

"Stop joking. The crying has stopped. It should be nearby. Go and look for it."

Tiandao already knew someone was coming. Seeing that the two sides were getting closer and closer, he couldn't help but urge his daughter: "Daughter, hurry up and howl twice. Your good days are coming. Hurry up and howl twice!"

Little Peach Blossom blinked twice, not understanding.

"Girl, hurry up! We can't let them get away. They're the richest and most benevolent family in the surrounding area. If you marry into their family, your life will be great!"

Little Peach Blossom pouted; life could never be as good as it used to be.

Heaven is helpless, Heaven has no other way, Heaven has its own way!

A gust of wind swept past, followed by thunder and lightning, illuminating the entire sky in a blinding white light. A patch of dark cloth on the snow was clearly visible, especially where the lightning was most concentrated—the spot where Little Peach Blossom lay.

Sure enough, Lin Guangsheng and his wife spotted it immediately and ran over.

The moment Yin Qing saw Xiao Taohua, her heart melted. The innocent, watery eyes looked at her curiously. The little girl didn't say a word, but she looked so bewildered and pitiful that you just wanted to hold her in your arms and comfort her.

Thinking this, she did just that, quickly picking up the child: "Good baby, Mommy will take you home." Without saying a word more, Yin Qing simply pulled Xiao Taohua into her arms, unbuttoned her coat, and wrapped her up completely.

It's very warm.

Little Peach Blossom unconsciously moved closer to Yin Qing, narrowed her eyes, and then giggled.

This person is so warm-hearted, Little Peach Blossom likes him very much.

Heaven was relieved to see that Little Peach Blossom liked it. It's good that she likes it.

"Honey, you're getting tired of carrying me, let me do it."

Yin Qing glanced at him sideways: "The baby isn't heavy. You're a grown man with heavy hands. Let me do it."

"Okay, I'll listen to you."

Little Peach Blossom felt her eyelids were so heavy, she felt like she couldn't open them anymore. It was so warm, she didn't want to open them either. She closed her eyelids and fell asleep.

Yin Qing immediately noticed and nervously touched Xiao Taohua's forehead. She was relieved to find that she didn't have a fever.

Seeing her movements, Lin Guangsheng said, "She's probably too tired. Let's go home first, and we'll take her to the county hospital to get checked out tomorrow morning."

"Yes, I'm going." Yin Qing nodded.

The two of them carried the little peach blossom and hurried back. Strangely enough, the biting wind seemed to have stopped, and even the difficult snowy road seemed much smoother. As for the thunder and lightning earlier, the couple ignored it. Could thunder and lightning on a snowy day be a good omen? But some things couldn't be said, lest they bring trouble, especially since the year was truly bad.

A new story, a new beginning, hello everyone! ^^
