Chapter 48 Reunion (Part 2)

An Dashan and his men thought that Captain Zheng was about to finish his shift, so they waited in the main hall, and Gao looked out the door from time to time. Zhao completely understood Gao's motherly thoughts, so she didn't say anything and waited here with them.

After waiting for a long time, Zheng Rong finally came in with two men in soldier uniforms. Gao saw her son at a glance, forced back the tears in her eyes, stood up and shouted, "Dayong."

An Yong had already seen his father, mother, and sister, but there were outsiders present, so he did not run over. When he heard Gao calling him, he could not help but shout, "Mom."

Captain Zheng was very tactful and took Zhao and Gensheng out, leaving space for a few people.

When Gao saw that everyone had left, she could not help but walk forward, hugged An Yong, and said, "You have grown taller, stronger, and darker."

An Yong patted his mother's back soothingly and called out, "Dad, little sister."

An Dashan yelled, "Hey!" and An Ning also shouted, "Brother."

Several people were chatting in the main room about what had happened during this period. When An Yong learned that his family not only bought land but also built a new house, he was very happy.

An Yong also told the three of them what happened in the army. When they learned that An Yong was already a centurion, An Dashan said proudly: "You are worthy of being my son!"

An Ning knew that this elder brother was smart, so she didn't dare say much to him for fear of arousing his suspicion. She just watched them talk from the side and agreed with them from time to time.

After they chatted for a while, Zhao sent someone to ask them to have dinner first and talk after dinner, so they followed the servants to the dining room.

After dinner, An Dashan and his friends took An Yong and Gensheng to the room where they rested.

After entering the house, Gao took out the things that Gensheng's mother had prepared for Gensheng and said, "Your mother doesn't know whether you have grown taller or not, so she enlarged the size for you. Go and try it on to see if it fits. If it doesn't fit, I'll make some changes for you."

Gensheng said, "Thank you, Aunt An." Then he went into the inner room to try on clothes.

Gao then took out the things she had prepared for An Yong and said, "Mother doesn't know how tall you have grown, so she bought something bigger. You can try it too."

An Yong took the clothes from Gao's hand and tried them on in the inner room. Unexpectedly, the clothes fit them perfectly. It seems that this is what a mother knows her son so well!

After trying on clothes, An Ning tried on shoes. She bought several sizes of shoes, one of which was the right size, one size slightly larger, and another size slightly smaller.

Gensheng's feet were just a little smaller than Anyong's, so Gao said, "Give these smaller pairs to Gensheng, since he can't return them anyway."

Gensheng was so moved that tears were about to flow, but he could only say, "Thank you, Aunt An."

Gao smiled and said, "Why are you so polite, kid?"

An Yong looked at the larger shoes and said, "Mom, I'll take these pairs of shoes back and give them to our captain. I see his feet are bigger than mine, and he has taken good care of me during this period."

Gao nodded and said, "Okay, just take it back."

Gensheng had also received his things, so he didn't intend to disturb the family from reminiscing about the past, so he said hello and walked out.

Mrs. Zhao, the wife of Captain Zheng, had arranged rooms for An Yong and Gen Sheng. Since Captain Zheng's house was not big, they could only live in one room. Gen Sheng walked to the room that Mrs. Zhao had prepared for him and An Yong, closed the door, and cried while holding the cotton-padded clothes that his mother had prepared for him. After all, Gen Sheng was just a child of sixteen or seventeen years old. Seeing An Yong's family reunited, he also missed home. But holding the cotton-padded clothes that his mother had prepared for him, he felt warm in his heart.

An Yong had to go back to the military camp the next day and would not be back until the evening, so after talking for a while, he went back to his room to sleep.

The next morning, Gensheng followed Captain Zheng back to the military camp, while An Yong and his companions said hello to Zhao after breakfast, saying they wanted to go out for a walk and would not have lunch at home.

Zhao naturally knew that they wanted to be alone together, so she told them, "Come back for dinner." Gao and the others thanked Zhao and left.

Today, An Yong was wearing the clothes that Gao and his family had brought him, a dark blue robe with narrow sleeves and a pair of boots of the same color, which made An Yong look tall and handsome. The people of Juyongguan were tough, and from time to time, little girls would look at An Yong and flirt with him, but unfortunately, An Yong was so focused on his family that he didn't pay any attention.

They strolled around the street, bought some small things, and then went to the largest restaurant in Juyongguan for dinner. When they arrived at the restaurant, the waiter saw that although the clothes of the few people were not very rich, they were much better than ordinary people, so he said enthusiastically: "Dear guests, please go upstairs."

An Dashan and his friends were led by the waiter to the private room on the second floor. Because Juyongguan borders the Northern Barbarians, the food there is similar. An Dashan ordered the signature dishes of the restaurant, hand-pulled lamb, roasted lamb legs, and stewed lamb offal. Then he looked at the vegetarian dishes and found that they were more expensive than meat dishes, so he didn't order any vegetarian dishes, but only a spicy soup. The main course was naturally the mutton stuffed buns.

The food in the military camp was not very good. Although there was no food shortage crisis since the new Zhenyuan Marquis became the commander, there was no meat to eat. An Yong remembered that the last time he ate meat was the Mid-Autumn Festival. Although he ate meat at Captain Zheng's house yesterday, it was at someone else's house, so he was embarrassed to eat it. Today, there were no outsiders, so An Yong really opened his mouth to eat. In addition, he was still growing up, so he ate half of the food on the table by himself. This made Gao Shi very distressed.

After finishing his meal, An Yong said a little embarrassedly: "I haven't eaten such delicious food for a long time. I couldn't help but eat more."

An Dashan said with a smile: "A man is one who eats a lot. Are you full? If not, order some more."

An Yong said quickly, "I'm full, Dad. I want to order a roast leg of lamb to take back to the people in the same tent. They haven't eaten meat for a long time."

An Yong was actually a little embarrassed. Although his family had some money now, he still knew how poor his family was in the past. This roasted lamb leg was not cheap.

An Dashan said, "No problem. Is one serving enough? If not, please order a few more."

An Yong quickly said: "Enough is enough."

A few people took the roasted lamb legs packed by the waiter and went downstairs. When they went downstairs, they happened to pass by a young girl who was beautifully dressed.

The girl was slightly distracted as she looked at the tall and straight young man passing by her. The maid next to her saw this and said, "Miss, what's wrong?"

The girl frowned slightly and said, "This person looks very familiar."

The maid stretched her neck to look at An Yong's back carefully, but she couldn't remember where she had seen him before, so she said, "Miss, I can't remember where I have seen you before either. Please go upstairs quickly, Miss Lu will be waiting anxiously."

After hearing what the maid said, the young lady stopped dwelling on the matter and went up the stairs.
