Chapter 6: Into the Mountains

The buns stuffed with oil residue were a rare delicacy in the ancient countryside, but the three of them tacitly ate only one and stopped eating, but drank up the whole pot of wild vegetable soup. An Ning wanted to leave the buns for An Dashan and Gao Shi, as they had plenty of food in their own space, so they didn't have to worry about going hungry, while An Dashan and Gao Shi wanted to leave the buns for An Ning.

After dinner, An Ning helped Gao to clean up the dishes. While Gao was washing the dishes, An Ning went to the chicken coop in the backyard and picked up three more eggs.

Gao looked at the eggs An Ning handed over, feeling somewhat puzzled. She had just checked the chicken coop before cooking, but had not seen any eggs. An Ning looked at Gao's expression, but did not explain. She handed the eggs to Gao and left the kitchen.

An Ning returned to her room, locked the door, and then slipped into the space. Her family was so poor, she had to find a way to improve their living conditions.

As she wandered around in the space, she was thinking of ways to deal with it. When she came to a medicinal field, she had an idea. This medicinal field was planted with Astragalus, the one next to it was planted with Ginseng, and another one was planted with Honeysuckle. These were all commonly used medicinal herbs. She could just find a chance to get them out when the time came.

However, An Ning had just fallen down the mountain, and Gao would definitely not let her go up the mountain. How to convince Gao was indeed a problem.

As An Ning was thinking, a gray rabbit ran past her. An Ning suddenly remembered that there was a rabbit farm not far from their experimental field. Could it be that the farm had also followed them? In order to verify this conjecture, An Ning quickly ran in that direction.

When she ran to the farm out of breath, she really saw the familiar farm. Without even taking a breath, An Ning pushed the door and walked in. The scene inside really scared her. All the rabbits that were supposed to be in the cage ran out and were looking for food! The place where the hay was originally placed had almost been eaten. Looking at the rabbits running around, An Ning's heart "stomped". Oh no, these rabbits will not ruin her crops!

An Ning quickly caught all the rabbits he could find and put them into the cage, closed the cage, and after making sure that the rabbits could not get out, he went to the experimental field to catch rabbits.

But it was not so easy to catch rabbits in the field. An Ning spent a long time catching two rabbits, and she was exhausted. An Ning didn't care about her image and sat on the ground, breathing heavily.

Suddenly, she remembered a novel she had read before, in which objects in space would appear in the hands of their owners as long as they moved their minds. She hurried to try it out, thinking in her mind, the rabbits in the field come to me, but who would have thought that as soon as she finished thinking, she was overwhelmed by a large group of rabbits.

An Ning struggled to get up from the pile of rabbits, looked at the large group of rabbits around him, and wanted to roar to the sky.

Isn't this like someone sending you a pillow when you are sleepy? Rabbits reproduce quickly, so as long as you master the breeding method, why worry about not making money? As long as rabbit breeding is successful, at least before improving crops, there will be a profitable livelihood, and life will not be as hard as it is now.

An Ning moved all the rabbits to the farm. Seeing the crops destroyed by the rabbits, An Ning felt distressed. She harvested all the crops that could be harvested and planted new seeds. Fortunately, she didn't have to do the work herself. She could do it with just a thought. Otherwise, she would be exhausted.

After finishing the farming, An Ning was hungry. She wanted to go to the hut to cook something, but maybe because she had walked too much today, her legs were sore and weak, and she didn't want to walk at all. She thought that since she was the master of this space, she could go anywhere she wanted with just a thought, so she closed her eyes and said to herself: "I want to go to the kitchen of the hut." When she opened her eyes, she really found herself in the kitchen.

This discovery was like discovering a new world. She closed her eyes and said to herself, "I'm going to the chicken coop." When she opened her eyes again, she really found herself in the chicken coop, but her position was not very good, and she stepped on a pile of chicken poop. She quickly raised her foot and rubbed the chicken poop off the sole of her shoe, then went to the chicken coop to pick up the eggs. After picking up the eggs, she returned to the kitchen.

Thinking that it was getting late, An Ning didn't want to make any troublesome meals, so she cooked a bowl of instant noodles and made a poached egg as usual. After eating, she soaked her feet in hot water in the space, feeling much more comfortable, and then went back to her room to sleep.

The next day, they had leftover steamed buns and wild vegetable soup for breakfast. After breakfast, An Ning saw An Dashan was going to the mountains to hunt again, and hurriedly said, "Dad, take me with you. I want to go to the mountains, too."

Before An Dashan could say anything, Gao said firmly, "No, you have forgotten the pain after your wound has healed. Your wounds haven't healed yet, and you want to go up the mountain again."

An Ning thought that Gao would disagree, but she didn't think her attitude would be so firm. She stood up and walked to Gao's side, hugged Gao's arm, and used her trump card, saying coquettishly: "Mom, just let me go. It's too boring for me to stay at home. Besides, my dad is watching over me, so nothing will happen."

Gao still disagreed. An Dashan couldn't bear to see his daughter like this, so he said, "Let Daya go. Don't worry, I'll be watching over her. Nothing will happen."

Gao looked at her daughter who was looking anxiously at her and her husband who was trying to persuade her, so she had to compromise. She nodded and told An Ning, "You can go if you want, but you are not allowed to run around. Do you hear me?" An Ning nodded quickly and said, "I know, mother. I will be careful."

An Ning carried the backpack that An Dashan had made for the original owner, held a small hoe for digging wild vegetables in her hand, and followed An Dashan into the mountains.

The An family was not far from the foot of the mountain, so it took less than a quarter of an hour to reach the top of the mountain. Along the way, we met many women and children from the same village who came to pick wild vegetables.

Seeing the father and daughter greeting each other, Aunt Liu, the eldest daughter-in-law of Grandpa Liu's family next door, saw An Ning also followed her up the mountain and asked, "Is Daya okay?"

Aunt Liu is the kindest person in the village. Last time, it was she who saw An Ning rolling down the hillside and she carried An Ning down the mountain.

An Ning also learned about this from Gao. She smiled and said, "Aunt Liu, I am all right now. Thank you for saving me."

Aunt Liu waved her hand and said, "We are all from the same village, there is no need to beat around the bush. Are you going hunting? I won't keep you any longer. It's getting late, so hurry up!"
