Chapter 12 Bedtime Story

Chapter 12 Bedtime Story

It's late at night.

Lu Ting finished his official business as usual, took a shower and returned to his room.

There was unexpectedly a small warm light on in the room. The orange light gave the room a warm coat, making it cozy.

Lu Ting frowned subconsciously.

Could it be that Zhao Ma forgot to turn it off when she cleaned the room?

Lu Ting walked to the bedside. Under the dim light, he vaguely saw something moving on the huge bed.

"Who? Come out!"

Lu Ting has always been very vigilant. He habitually reached for his waist, but it was empty.

He almost forgot that he was at home and had just taken a shower, so naturally he didn't have a gun with him.

Sudden.

The little ball in the quilt moved again, rustled for a while, and then a round little head popped out.

"Daddy, it's Zhizhi duck~"

The little guy rubbed his big eyes sleepily and spoke in a daze.

Lu Ting secretly breathed a sigh of relief and looked at the time. Normally, the child should have been asleep by this time.

"Why don't you go back to your room and sleep?"

"Hmm..." The little girl shrank back into the quilt. When she poked her head out again, she was holding a book in her hand and looked at Lu Ting expectantly: "Zhizhi wants to hear Daddy tell a story~"

"No." Lu Ting frowned and refused, "It's late, go back to sleep."

The little girl puffed out her pink cheeks, glancing at the storybook with her black eyes, then at Lu Ting, looking pitiful: "But... Zhizhi just wants to hear Daddy tell stories..."

Back in the day when they were in the Fanluo Rain Forest, Grandma Meihua often told her stories.

Grandma Meihua's voice is so gentle and sweet, Zhizhi loves it!

I just can’t hear it now…

Thinking of his family in the Fanluo Rain Forest, little Taozhi felt very sad. He immediately dropped his head and scratched the spine of the fairy tale book with his chubby little paws helplessly.

The air suddenly became oppressive.

Seeing the little dumpling's gloomy look, Lu Ting suddenly felt very uncomfortable.

He sighed softly: "Today."

If the little girl comes to bother him with a storybook again next time, he will throw her out without any hesitation!

Little Taozhi's eyelashes curved as she nodded happily, "Okay~"

Then, the little dumpling twisted his little body and rolled into the bed. He patted the empty side of the bed with his little fleshy hands, looked at Lu Ting eagerly and said, "Daddy sleeps on this side, and Zhizhi sleeps on the other side."

Lu Ting was stunned for a moment, "Wait a minute."

His eyes wandered around the room for a long time, finally landing on the shopping bag in the corner.

He took out the stuffed toy from the shopping bag. It was a long carrot pillow, very soft and cute.

Lu Ting stuffed the pillow into the quilt, placing it between him and the little guy. The pillow was so long, almost as tall as Xiao Taozhi, that it was just enough to separate the two of them.

"Just hold the carrot and don't touch me." Lu Ting said seriously, "Also, no drooling."

This is the last stubbornness of a mysophobia!

Little Taozhi's fair and tender face showed reluctance. She wanted to sleep with her father in her arms.

But if she said that, would her father be unhappy? What if her father got upset and stopped telling her stories?

The little dumpling pouted and looked very embarrassed.

After thinking about it for a while, he finally gave up the idea.

Forget it. Daddy still has to work tomorrow and it will be very tiring. Zhizhi, please don’t make Daddy unhappy.

Having made up her mind, little Taozhi stayed obediently in the bed, with only her round little head sticking out, waiting quietly for Lu Ting to start telling a story.

Maybe little Taozhi had just slept here, so this area outside the quilt was warm and still had a trace of the little guy's body temperature.

The little dumplings are pretty good for warming the bed.

Lu Ting thought to himself and glanced at the little guy beside him.

"Awoo..." Little Taozhi yawned as fatigue crept over him. He urged in a baby voice, "Daddy, hurry up and start telling Zhizhi a story."

"Um."

Lu Ting turned the pages of the book with his slender, clean fingertips, and his voice was like a clear spring flowing through the mountains, gurgling and clear:

"Once upon a time, a mother sheep was walking down the road when she saw an egg. Curious, she didn't know what the egg was, so she took it home, intending to hatch it. A month later, the egg hatched, revealing an eagle. The mother sheep looked at the tiny baby eagle and couldn't help but feel love for it."

Lu Ting frowned slightly. What kind of illogical and messy thing is this?

Any normal carbon-based creature couldn't think of such a plot, okay?

Even though he thought so, Lu Ting still forced himself to continue reading: "In the following years, the mother sheep took good care of the little eagle. Gradually, the little eagle grew up and could fly, but the mother sheep grew old..."

The story was not finished yet, but there was already no movement on the side.

Lu Ting tilted his head slightly, and the little guy beside him had already fallen into a sweet dream. I don't know what good things he dreamed about, but little Taozhi smiled sweetly.

Lu Ting couldn't help but curl up his thin lips, a hint of smile hidden in his cold voice:

"Fool."

He said softly.

Then, Lu Ting reached out to tuck the quilt for Tao Zhi, picked up the fairy tale book and got out of bed quietly.

When he reached the door, he paused slightly, his handsome face half hidden in the obscure darkness, making it difficult to see his expression.

He shook the fairy tale book in his hand, and the smile in his black eyes froze into ice in an instant, with a chilling chill.

He pulled the corner of his mouth with a forced smile, and a low sneer escaped from his throat.

What a joke! How can an eagle and a sheep live happily together?

Sure enough, fairy tales are just used to fool little kids.

Rubbish story.

Lu Ting secretly complained, and suddenly withdrew the force in his hand, and the book fell into the trash can with a "gulp".

Garbage belongs in the trash can.

Lu Ting took a step forward and was about to leave.

Sudden.

"Dad, what are you doing?" Xiao Taozhi asked in a daze.

Lu Ting's body stiffened, as if he had been caught doing something bad.

I felt inexplicably anxious.

Lu Ting cleared his throat and said, "Nothing."

Little Taozhi rubbed his eyes and hummed with a thick nasal voice: "Then why did Daddy throw...throw the book into the trash can..."

Lu Ting was silent for a moment.

He couldn't possibly say that this book was too childish and was a complete waste of garbage, right?

Who knows what kind of trouble the little guy will cause him.

Can……

He is Lu Ting!

The dreaded cold-faced Judge Lu!

Even if he really said that, who would dare to do anything to him?

What’s more, it’s just a little ball of milk.

Lu Ting instantly became righteous and confident.

"I……"

After a pause, Lu Ting uttered three words softly: "My hand slipped."

After saying that, he didn't forget to glance at Xiaotuanzi's expression to see if she was angry.

"Awooo..." Little Taozhi yawned again, his eyelids almost drooping, "Then daddy will just pick it up..."

"Zhizhi is sleepy and wants to go to bed. Good night, Daddy..."

Looking at the little girl's peaceful sleeping face, Lu Ting breathed a sigh of relief and said softly, "Good night."

He lowered his eyelashes and glanced at the storybook lying in the trash can with disdain, his veins bulging.

Tsk, the more I look at it, the more disgusted I feel.

After struggling in his heart for a while, Lu Ting finally stretched out two fingers, pinched the spine of the book, lifted it up, and rushed out the door quickly.

Of course, this is on the premise of not waking up Xiao Taozhi.

The next day.

Supreme Federal Court.

"Take it for testing." Lu Ting handed a transparent plastic bag to Assistant Zhang.

Assistant Zhang took it and found a few short, thin hairs in the bag.

"Lu Pan, this is..."

That kid's?

Apart from the children from a few days ago, Assistant Zhang couldn't think of anyone else.

But Assistant Zhang was most concerned about whether the little girl would stay or go. "Lu Pan, if the result is not what you want, what will you do with the child?"

Lu Ting pondered in silence, his eyes staring calmly at something not far away, making it impossible to guess what he was thinking.

Was the result not what he wanted?

Thinking about this, Lu Ting suddenly laughed.

But what exactly did he want?

Did he hope that the child was his and would stay with him forever? Or did he hope that the child was not his and he would just kick him away?

He doesn't know.

To this day, he still can't figure out what kind of feelings he has for that little ball.

Is it just a relationship between strangers?

No, definitely more than that!

Can it be said that this is a deep and loving father-daughter relationship?

Not here again.

The only thing he could be sure of was—

The little dumpling's weight in his heart is getting heavier and heavier, and he cares more and more about that stupid dumpling.

Although, he really didn't want to admit this fact...

After gathering his thoughts, Lu Ting turned back into his original emotionless and cold-blooded presiding judge, and coldly threw two words at Assistant Zhang: "Stop talking."

It was as if the fleeting tenderness in his eyes just now did not exist.

This little story was written for me by Yangyang's best friend as a bedtime story. Yangyang really liked it so I'm sharing it with everyone. Don't think Lu Ge is so disgusted with this story now, he will be slapped in the face.
