Chapter 135: Hiding from Her

"Yeah, a little bit. Are you getting used to it?" Lu Cheng tried his best to appear calm, but he couldn't help but want to care about her. He was struggling internally. It was impossible to move forward, but he couldn't bear to step back. He, Lu Cheng, had never been one to give up easily. Since they weren't married, what was wrong with being a gentleman for the one he loved? But doing so would definitely have a significant impact on her, so he gave in.

"Fortunately, the food here is delicious." Meng Si Ning pursed his lips slightly, with a hint of loss in his eyes.

"The chef here's grandfather has run a restaurant his whole life, so the food is really good. We had braised fish for lunch today, and it was delicious." Lu Cheng seemed to be making small talk, wanting to say a few more words to her.

"Braised fish? I love it." Meng Si Ning's eyes lit up, and then he secretly looked at Lu Cheng.

Gu Jingshen watched them chatting one by one, feeling a little sad. He quickly found something to talk about and asked Meng Si Ning about some things in life, such as the boy next to him, how long he would stay here, and if he needed anything in the future, he could come to him.

When Meng Si Ning arrived at the cafeteria, before she could even look for her mother, Gu Jingshen had already quickly prepared a plate of braised fish, rice, and three vegetarian dishes for her. "I don't know what you like to eat, but is this enough? Let's set up a table together so we can have more dishes. Comrade Meng can try more of the local flavors."

"Comrade Gu, how much is it? I'll give it to you." Meng Sining said, taking out a dollar and a few tickets and giving them to him.

"No need, consider it a treat from my friend." Gu Jingshen took a step back and refused to accept it.

Lu Cheng couldn't bear to watch it any longer and said, "Sit down and eat. We have a lot of meal tickets here, and we can't use them all."

Meng Si Ning didn't insist any more and pulled Lin Xiao Di to sit down. After sitting down, she looked around and didn't see Uncle Lin and her mother, so she gave up. Looking down, she found that Lu Jingshen had picked up a piece of fish for her and Lin Xiao Di.

Meng Si Ning said, "I met Xia Qiu before I came here, but unfortunately I was in a hurry and didn't have time to help her bring her things."

Speaking of Xia Qiu, Gu Jingshen paused in his action of picking up food, and a look of unnaturalness appeared in his eyes.

"The other day I was sending a letter to my girlfriend and she was also sending a letter to you. She also said that we would come here to see her when we have time in the future. Did you receive the letter Xia Qiu sent you?" Meng Si Ning said casually, but his eyes were secretly observing Lu Cheng's reaction.

Gu Jingshen pokes his chopsticks in the bowl: "Got it. Is your partner also from here?"

Meng Si Ning glanced at Lu Cheng and found that he was eating with his head down, looking like an outsider. She had made it so obvious in the letter. Meng Si Ning sighed and said, "Yes, but he seems to have some misunderstandings about me. I'm thinking about how to make him forgive me."

"What's his...name?" Gu Jingshen asked, and Lu Cheng's hands unconsciously clenched the chopsticks, but his ears pricked up quietly.
