The next day, Jiang Tang, filled with anticipation, hurried to the parts factory to find her uncle. The machinery factory where her uncle worked primarily produced oil extraction machines and auto parts. It was a different plant from He Yan's, so the city often referred to it as the parts factory to distinguish them. Inside the workshop, the roar of machinery intertwined into a melody of industrial activity, and workers bustled about busily.
"Uncle, these are the agricultural products of our commune. The Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, does your factory have any plans for welfare preparation?" Jiang Tang asked directly with enthusiasm, his mouth corners raised and a bright smile showing.
"Tangtang, aren't you helping the commune sell tea? I've already discussed it with the logistics department and plan to purchase a batch in winter. As for the Mid-Autumn Festival benefits, it's basically been decided, and some canned food and moon cakes have been ordered. Hey, I didn't expect you to have these good things. These apples look so good." The uncle said excitedly as he looked through the agricultural products.
"Ah, uncle, you guys are so quick. You've made the order so early?" Jiang Tang widened his eyes slightly, with a hint of surprise in his eyes.
"There are more than 200 people in our factory, and the supply is tight. How can we not act early? You even have eggs. The canteen can purchase some." My uncle continued.
"Uncle, your niece loves you so much! How many eggs do you want?" Jiang Tang's voice rose a few degrees with excitement.
"Let's take 500 chickens first... or how about changing it to ducks? Can we get 20 of them?" The uncle thought for a moment and spoke.
"Yes! Definitely!" Jiang Tang couldn't hide his joy. This time, he had successfully marketed a new product. Having received a large order from his uncle early in the morning, Jiang Tang felt energized and walked with a lightness of spirit.
After leaving her uncle's machinery factory, Jiang Tang's mind drifted back to the one where He Yan worked. She quickly grabbed her carefully prepared supplies and headed straight to the logistics department, where she met Section Chief Qin. It had to be said that the benefits at this machinery factory were much more generous, with the procurement plan including three items.
"We've just finalized the mooncake deal with the pastry factory, and we're thinking of getting some fruit. These yellow peaches look good, can we get a thousand pounds?" Section Chief Qin asked as he looked at the samples brought by Jiang Tang.
"Chief Qin, one thousand kilograms is absolutely no problem! We also have apples that mature early, which are of excellent quality and affordable. Whether you pay with money, give tickets, or barter, it's all fine." Jiang Tang hurriedly introduced enthusiastically.
"Okay, then let's get 500 kilograms of apples and 500 kilograms of yellow peaches. By the way, how much do you sell your vermicelli for?" Section Chief Qin asked.
"Here's the price list. Vermicelli is 2.2 yuan per pound." Jiang Tang quickly handed over the price list.
"We also want vermicelli. Two hundred pounds, please." Section Chief Qin made the decision readily.
"Great, Chief Qin!" Jiang Tang was overjoyed, having successfully secured another order. While not all of the produce came from the two villages she oversaw, she felt a sense of accomplishment in increasing income for the members. After all, a road was about to be built between the two villages she oversaw, and Liulin Village was nearby. Having achieved so much for them, she was sure they would support the project.
"Excuse me, is Comrade He here?" Jiang Tang asked, turning her head and looking around. She spotted He Yan right away. Right next to her, Zhou Xiang whistled at He Yan.
"Hey, Mr. Jiang, long time no see!" Zhou Xiang greeted with a smile, with a familiar look on his face.
"Mr. Zhou, long time no see." Jiang Tang responded while taking out a few plums from the basket and gently placing them on the table closest to the door. "These are produced in the village. You can try them."
"Thank you!" Zhou Xiang picked up the plum without hesitation, a smile on his face.
He Yan glanced at Zhou Xiang, his eyes filled with helplessness. He then stood up and walked downstairs with Jiang Tang. "Why are you free to come here today?"
"Mid-Autumn Festival is coming soon. I'm here to promote the commune's agricultural products and say hello to you. Comrade He, will you have a holiday for Mid-Autumn Festival?" Jiang Tang said as he walked.
"Let go." He Yan answered briefly.
"How many days will it last?" Jiang Tang asked.
"Whether it's one day or three days, it hasn't been decided yet," said He Yan.
"If it's only one day off, I'm planning to take the day off to see you," Jiang Tang said.
He Yan raised his eyebrows and glanced at her: "What do you want to talk to me about?"
"Ah...it's like this. You know, I often eat at different houses in the village, and sometimes the food is not to my taste. You are such a good cook, I would like to ask you to make some home-cooked meals for me to take back." Jiang Tang lowered her head slightly, with a hint of shyness in her tone.
"I'm not very good at making pastries." He Yan said.
"No need for pastries, just home-cooked meals." Jiang Tang said quickly, waving her hands.
"Home-cooked dishes will lose their freshness if left for too long," He Yan reminded.
"Don't worry about it, I have a way. Comrade He, just tell me if you can help with this." Jiang Tang raised his head, his eyes full of anticipation.
He Yan raised the corner of his mouth and smiled: "Of course. Come find me after Mid-Autumn Festival."
"Okay, these are for you and Mr. Zhong." Jiang Tang handed over the apples she brought.
"Does your village grow apples?" He Yan took the apple and asked in confusion.
"They're from the next village. I gathered all the agricultural products from the entire commune and helped everyone sell them. This is their thank you gift," Jiang Tang explained.
He Yan looked at Jiang Tang with admiration in his eyes. She always managed to bring unexpected results that impressed everyone.
After parting with He Yan, Jiang Tang found a quiet spot and slipped into the space. She relaxed on the sofa, picked up a popsicle she'd saved earlier, and prepared to rest for a bit. Then, Meng Si Ning's voice echoed in her mind: "Are you hungry? I'll get you something to eat in the cafeteria."
[I’m starving! I’m almost starving to death!] Jiang Tang responded hastily, his tone filled with urgency.
[Waiting.] Meng Si Ning replied concisely.
Jiang Tang checked the time; it was already past midnight. Twenty minutes later, Meng Si Ning walked into the space with two lunch boxes. "Hurry up and eat! Today's dishes are stir-fried shredded potatoes and braised eggplant."
"Your unit is doing pretty well, so why don't you have any meat dishes?" Jiang Tang asked with a bit of confusion.
"No matter how rich you are, you can't eat meat every meal. Our standard is to eat meat once a week." Meng Sining explained patiently.
"I thought we could eat meat every day." Jiang Tang said.
"It's not that extravagant. I've agreed with Liu Nian that she will take you somewhere after get off work this afternoon. But I can't go. I have to go back early today to accompany Brother Lin." Meng Si Ning said.
"Is he sick?" Jiang Tang asked with concern.
"Today is his birthday." Meng Sining said with a smile.
