Chapter 213: Compensation and Preparation

As the saying goes, an old person in the family is like a treasure. Grandma Li demonstrated it herself. Under her guidance, the mooncakes she made had a crispy crust, soft and glutinous fillings, and were full of fragrance.

Meng Si Ning took a bite of the red bean filling, his eyes lit up, and he said excitedly: "Grandma Li's is so delicious! I have some more, let's make some more."

So she hurriedly brought eggs and flour from home, and ran to the mall to buy chestnuts, and made mooncakes with chestnut and red date fillings.

The ginger candies are on the side, and you can enjoy a different flavor after each pot is baked.

In the end, I almost fell flat.

During this period, Meng Sining also received a call from Lu Cheng.

"I wanted to call you today, but I was so busy that I forgot."

"What are you doing?"

"I learned how to make mooncakes from the grandma next door. It's a pity I can't mail them to you. Did you eat mooncakes today?"

Lu Cheng looked down at the things in his hand and smiled, "Uncle Lin and Auntie asked me to come over for dinner tonight. I prepared some."

"Lu Cheng, thank you for spending time with my family. Well... I'll mail you some mooncakes tomorrow. Although it's a little late, the mooncakes I make will definitely be different from the ones you've tasted."

"Well, the gift you gave me must be unique."

The two chatted for several minutes. If Jiang Tang hadn't come over and urged her in a sarcastic tone, who knows how much longer they could have talked.

"He doesn't need to pay for the phone bill, but you do, sister. Phone bills are very expensive these days."

"I have plenty of money now, and I'm happy to spend it."

"Okay, okay, Miss Meng, the mooncakes you made are out of the oven."

Meng Si Ning quickly ran over to take a look.

They were busy until around six o'clock.

Before leaving, Meng Si Ning distributed the mooncakes and said, "Today is Mid-Autumn Festival. Everyone should take some mooncakes back home and try our craftsmanship."

Each person got more than ten pieces, and everyone accepted them happily.

In the evening, Meng Sining carefully arranged fruit platter, moon cakes, and a portion of rice dumplings and wontons for each person in the yard.

She smiled and greeted her younger brother, Ponyo, and Xiaobai: "Little brother, today is Mid-Autumn Festival, let's celebrate the festival happily together!" The younger brother took the fruit pin, his face filled with a happy smile: "Sister, these mooncakes are so delicious, I have a great time today!"

Jiang Tang happily took the mooncake home, intending to give her family a surprise. Unexpectedly, as soon as she entered the house, Liu Xiulan asked with a stern face, "Tangtang, where did you get this mooncake?"

Jiang Tang answered truthfully: "Si Ning gave it to me."

Upon hearing this, Liu Xiulan flew into a rage. "When you make friends with someone, you have to help each other, not just take advantage of them all the time! Meng's family doesn't have any adults, and her reputation wasn't very good before. She wanted to be friends with you guys, but you took advantage of her and used her things. What's more, we have a phone at home, and you even went out of your way to call her? What did your father and I teach you?"

Jiang Tang hurriedly explained, "Oh, Mom, listen to me. I brought some things too. I took the red dates. Besides, we did it together. Grandma Li participated, and Xia Qiu also helped. How can this be considered taking advantage? I'm usually very nice to Si Ning. It's all mutual and voluntary. I went to her house to call because I wanted to share the fruits of my labor with her in time. Mom, good friends don't have so many nitpickings. Dad, sister, please help me speak up!"

Jiang Mo had already eaten most of the mooncake and mumbled, "Lao San, these mooncakes are so delicious. Why didn't you make them earlier? I'll give you some more. Give me a few and I'll give them to Xin Chi."

Liu Xiulan was chasing Jiang Tang with a feather duster. When she heard Jiang Mo's words, she became angry again and pointed at Jiang Guangtao and said, "Hurry up and marry her off to me. This girl is too much of a worry!"

Jiang Guangtao nodded while eating mooncakes: "Well, I agree with this."

Jiang Mo said aggrievedly: "Mom and Dad, you are too partial! Why do you only blame me?"

"I'm partial? Do you want to be beaten like the third brother?"

The family members chatted with each other and played around. On this Mid-Autumn night, the air was filled with strong family love and joy.

The next morning, sunlight streamed through thin clouds. Jiang Tang stood in front of the mirror, looking at her slightly tired yet energetic appearance. Suddenly, she slapped her forehead and said, "Oh no! I think I forgot something important!"

So he washed up in a hurry, took out four mooncakes from yesterday, wrapped them in oil paper, and rushed to the Red Star Machinery Factory.

Arriving at the entrance of the machinery factory, Jiang Tang walked towards the security guard with a smile on her face and said sweetly, "Uncle, could you please call Comrade He Yan for me? I have something to ask him."

The security guard looked up and recognized her now: "Little comrade, you're here again. I'll call him right away."

After a while, He Yan walked out of the factory. The moment he saw Jiang Tang, his brows furrowed slightly and a hint of displeasure flashed across his face.

Seeing this, Jiang Tang hurried forward and said apologetically, "He Yan, I'm so sorry. I was so busy yesterday that I forgot. The village is having its autumn harvest recently, and there's so much going on that I was completely overwhelmed."

He Yan glanced at her. Her hands were smooth and tender, and she didn't look like she was working. He had waited for her at home for a whole day the day before yesterday.

Jiang Tang scratched his head awkwardly and chuckled, "I just came here after finishing my work yesterday. I just finished the finishing touches yesterday and rushed to see you today. Here, these are the mooncakes I made myself. I'll give them to you and Mr. Zhong to try. By the way, I wanted to ask when you're free. I won't break my promise this time."

He Yan looked at the mooncake in her hand with a cold face, and was slow to take it without any intention of taking it. Jiang Tang did not give him a reason to refuse and directly stuffed it into his hand.

He Yan asked, "Aren't you asking Reporter Meng to treat you? It's past time, right?"

"No, no, it's because I'm too busy and don't have time to come see you, so she changed the time. She'll treat you whenever the food is ready."

He Yan was silent for a moment and then said, "Okay, come see me early tomorrow morning." After that, he turned around and was about to leave.

Jiang Tang shouted at his back, "Okay, I'll be there tomorrow morning!"

After He Yan walked away, Jiang Tang muttered softly, "This guy, I didn't ask him to help with the work, why is he still angry? What a weirdo."

Meng Si Ning arrived at the office. Editor-in-Chief Chen called her over and handed her a stack of foreign newspapers. He said, "Reporter Meng, these are mailed from Beijing. These are current affairs reports from various countries. They've asked you to translate them. Please translate them as soon as possible. This assignment is quite urgent."

Meng Si Ning took the newspaper and nodded seriously: "Editor Chen, don't worry, I will finish it on time."

Then, he returned to his desk and devoted his full attention to a new round of translation work.

In the afternoon, Meng Si Ning returned home, and Jiang Tang couldn't wait to tell her about her trip to find He Yan.
