Chapter 53 Qiao Xiuyuan's "Sincerity"

Qiao Xiuyuan came here hoping to see Su Muxi, but after entering the house, he still couldn't find her.

He couldn't help but ask in confusion, "Where is Xi'er?"

“Xi’er has been going to Shan Ci Tang every day lately, and I can’t stop her, so I just let her be.”

Although Su Xing said this, his face showed a proud expression.

They thought their daughter would be ridiculed for her appearance if she showed herself in public, but after being targeted by the people of the Marquis of Anyang's mansion, no one spoke ill of her appearance. Instead, they all recognized her medical skills.

He devoted his life to medicine, and seeing his daughter like this, he naturally felt proud.

But Qiao Xiuyuan frowned upon hearing this.

He didn't want Su Muxi to appear in public, partly because he was afraid people would talk about her appearance, and partly because he didn't want her to have too much contact with people.

Firstly, they were afraid that Su Muxi would be mistreated when she went out, and secondly, they were afraid that others would see how good Su Muxi was.

If possible, he hoped that Su Muxi would stay in the Marquis of Anyang's mansion for the rest of her life, so that he could protect her for the rest of his life.

However, Qiao Xiuyuan quickly adjusted his expression and said with a face full of guilt, "It's all my fault for not teaching my son well and managing my wife and daughter properly, otherwise Xi'er wouldn't have suffered so much."

"But now that I'm back, everything will get back on track."

"I have already taught them a lesson. After Xi'er goes back, she will definitely not suffer any more grievances."

Su Xing understood the implication in Qiao Xiuyuan's words and raised an eyebrow, asking, "Go back? Does the Marquis not know that Xi'er and the Heir Apparent have already divorced? Xi'er will not be going to the Marquis of Anyang's residence again."

Qiao Xiuyuan quickly said, "Brother Su, my son was confused before, but he regrets it now and will definitely treat Xi'er well in the future."

Treat it well?

Su Xing thought of the red birthmark on Su Muxi's face. He didn't say anything, but the cold smile on his lips expressed his attitude towards the matter.

He will never let his daughter return to the Marquis of Anyang's residence.

Although Qiao Xiuyuan's presence ensures that Xi'er won't suffer any injustice, who can guarantee that Qiao Xiuyuan will always be there?

What a daughter needs is a husband who can love and protect her, not a father-in-law.

Qiao Xiuyuan didn't continue the topic, because he knew that as long as he could persuade Xi'er, Su Xing would naturally relent, and the only one with a soft heart was Xi'er.

Since the person wasn't there, Qiao Xiuyuan said a few words and left.

He wouldn't let Su Muxi rush back to see him; instead, he went to Shanci Hall to find her.

Only in this way can his "sincerity" be demonstrated.

With Su Muxi as the resident doctor, Shancitang's business improved significantly.

Looking at the various people from all walks of life in the Shanci Hall, Qiao Xiuyuan put away his disgust and slowly walked in. Taking advantage of his height, he immediately saw Su Muxi sitting behind the table on the right, treating someone.

His peach blossom eyes, which had been filled with the marks of time, were replaced with tenderness the moment he saw Su Muxi. Looking at Su Muxi's eyebrows and the contours of her features, there was a hint of love in his eyes that was hard to detect.

Perhaps it was because Qiao Xiuyuan's gaze was too intense that Su Muxi sensed it, looked up, and upon seeing Qiao Xiuyuan, quickly stood up in surprise.

"My lord, what brings you here?"

Upon hearing this address, Qiao Xiuyuan's handsome eyebrows furrowed, and he said with some sadness, "Xi'er, I still prefer to hear you call me Father."

Upon hearing this conversation, even the most obtuse person could guess Qiao Xiuyuan's identity, and for a moment they all looked back and forth between Su Muxi and Qiao Xiuyuan with curious eyes.

Judging from this, not everyone in the Marquis of Anyang's mansion dislikes Su Muxi; at least the Marquis of Anyang seems to treat Su Muxi quite well.

However, it's also possible that he's faking it. After all, his son has a limp, and perhaps he came here to appeal to Su Muxi's emotions and get her to treat the Marquis of Anyang's son's leg.

Su Muxi looked at the patient in front of her, then at Qiao Xiuyuan, her face showing a troubled expression.

Qiao Xiuyuan immediately saw through Su Muxi's concerns, smiled gently, and said understandingly, "Xi'er, you go ahead with your work, I'll wait for you in the back room."

Su Muxi smiled and nodded, but frowned slightly after seeing Qiao Xiuyuan's walking posture.

Is the Marquis of Anyang injured in the arm?

Half an hour later, Su Muxi hurriedly entered the back room. Just as she was about to apologize, she saw Qiao Xiuyuan's pained expression.

"My lord, are you injured?"

Su Muxi hurriedly went to check Qiao Xiuyuan's right arm.

She had noticed something was wrong just now. Qiao Xiuyuan's right arm was stiff when he walked. When she rolled up Qiao Xiuyuan's sleeve and saw his arm, which was red, swollen and oozing blood, her worry deepened. She hurriedly asked Bai Zhi to bring her medicine box.

Qiao Xiuyuan looked at Su Muxi's tense expression, but there was no trace of pain on her face, only joy and affection.

"My lord, does it hurt? Let me treat your wound first, please bear with it." Su Muxi said softly without looking up.

But then Qiao Xiuyuan said, his voice slightly choked with emotion, "Xi'er, don't worry, I'm not in pain. Compared to the grievances you've suffered these past few days, this is nothing."

Su Muxi trembled upon hearing this, her heart moved, but she did not look up.

She didn't dare look at Qiao Xiuyuan, because she was afraid she would burst into tears.

Although she acted as if nothing was wrong these days, she felt somewhat wronged and thought she was being treated unfairly.

But she didn't want her father to worry or feel guilty, so she could only keep herself busy and forget the unpleasantness from before.

Hearing Qiao Xiuyuan's words now, I felt incredibly wronged, and my nose started to sting.

After the wound was bandaged, Su Muxi suppressed the bitterness in her heart and raised her head.
