The night sky over Yingbin Pavilion is as dark as ink. The bright moonlight shines on the glazed tiles of Yingbin Pavilion, creating a layer of cool silver glow.
Bai Wei was wearing a plain white long dress and stood quietly in front of Li Lingge's courtyard gate, like a statue carved from ice and jade.
She had been standing here for a full hour.
The night dew wet the hem of her skirt, but she always maintained the most respectful posture, with her hands folded in front of her abdomen, her back straight as a pine tree, and her eyes looking calmly at the closed door in the yard.
Yin Shuiyue couldn't help but walk over and then spoke.
"The master said he wouldn't see you."
"I can wait."
Bai Wei's voice was as cold as frost, yet it carried an unquestionable firmness.
Yin Shuiyue wanted to say something but stopped herself, and finally retreated.
It is really puzzling that this number one alchemy expert, who is famous throughout the world, is waiting so persistently like a student.
The lights in the room flickered, and a figure could be vaguely seen busy in front of the alchemy furnace.
Bai Wei's gaze followed the figure, a rare desire flashing in her eyes.
"Taiyi Creation Pill."
She murmured softly, and the shocking scene from the daytime reappeared in her mind.
Thirty-six elixir tribulations, elixir performing the universe, that was a realm she had never reached in her entire life.
Another half hour passed before the door finally opened.
Li Lingge walked out in a white robe. When he saw Bai Wei in the yard, he raised his eyebrows slightly.
"You looking for me?"
Bai Wei immediately became serious, clasped her hands together, and performed a standard disciple's salute.
"Daoyou Li."
If outsiders saw this action, they would probably be shocked.
The number one person in alchemy actually bowed to a junior!
Li Lingge dodged sideways: "What do you mean, fairy?"
"Please teach me." Bai Wei stood up straight, her eyes gleaming with pure light, "About the Taiyi Creation Pill..."
She paused, as if weighing her words.
The ancestor of the Taisu Divine Sect, who usually kept his word, was now as cautious as an apprentice who had just entered the art of alchemy.
"How were the thirty-six pill tribulations triggered?"
The night wind blew, and the purple bamboo in the courtyard rustled.
Li Lingge looked at her for a long time, then suddenly turned around and said, "Come in."
A hint of joy flashed in Bai Wei's eyes, and she hurried to catch up.
The furnishings in the courtyard are simple, with only an ancient alchemy furnace emitting residual warmth.
Li Lingge casually poured a cup of tea and pushed it towards her: "Do you want to learn my alchemy?"
Bai Wei took the teacup with both hands, but did not drink it.
"I've been stagnant on the path of alchemy for too long."
She looked up, her eyes burning.
"Seeing fellow Daoist making pills today, I realized there is always someone better than you."
Li Lingge chuckled: "So you're willing to stand outside the courtyard for an hour?"
"It's worth it." Bai Wei's answer was clear and concise.
The moonlight shines through the window lattice, casting mottled shadows on the ground.
Li Lingge leaned lazily on the back of the chair, tapping the table lightly with his fingertips.
The candlelight cast shadows of varying depths on his handsome face, making it difficult to see his expression.
"I'm willing to ask for your advice," he suddenly smiled, but the smile did not reach his eyes, "but what can you give me in exchange?"
Bai Wei was stunned. As the number one in alchemy, she was always the one being asked for favors by others. Why would she ever be asked to pay a price?
But the person in front of her was different. He possessed the ultimate truth of alchemy that she had always dreamed of.
"Anything!"
She blurted out, then realized her loss of composure and returned to her cold demeanor.
"As long as I have it, fellow Daoist, please feel free to ask."
"Anything?"
Li Lingge repeated playfully, his eyes slowly moving over her.
Bai Wei suddenly felt a little uneasy. That gaze was so sharp that it seemed to penetrate her body and reach the depths of her soul.
But her desire for alchemy ultimately overwhelmed her uneasiness, and she nodded solemnly.
"right."
"You can teach me everything you know," Li Lingge said, casually turning the teacup in his hand. "But I will only pass on my life's learning to my own disciples."
He raised his eyes and stared at Bai Wei meaningfully.
Those deep eyes seemed to be able to see through people's hearts, peeling off her pride and dignity layer by layer.
Bai Wei's chest heaved violently. As the ancestor of the Taisu Divine Sect and the recognized number one in the alchemy world, how could she have ever suffered such humiliation?
Although she had just saluted Li Lingge, it was just a salute. Once she became his disciple, the nature of the matter would be completely different.
"you--"
Her red lips trembled slightly, but she could only utter one word.
The moonlight outside the window was suddenly obscured by dark clouds, and the room suddenly became dark.
Bai Wei felt that her dignity was disappearing bit by bit, just like the swallowed moonlight.
Li Lingge seemed to have lost his patience and stood up, waving his sleeves: "Since you can't let go of your pride, then please go back."
"etc!"
Bai Wei suddenly looked up and met Li Lingge's starry eyes.
That look stung her eyes and also hurt her last bit of pride.
Is this really necessary?
She bit her lower lip so hard that she didn't even realize she tasted blood.
The candle flame burst into a flower, Bai Wei trembled all over, and finally slowly loosened her fingertips that were clenched until they turned white.
She stood up trembling, and her back, which had always been straight, now bent down little by little as if it was bearing a heavy burden.
"division--"
The first word was almost squeezed out from between her teeth. She felt as if her throat was blocked by something and she couldn't say the other word.
Li Lingge looked at her leisurely, with a playful smile in his eyes.
Bai Wei closed her eyes, her long eyelashes trembling violently.
She thought of the ultimate in alchemy that she had been pursuing, the bottlenecks that she had never been able to break through, and the thirty-six alchemy tribulations she had witnessed today, and couldn't help but take a deep breath.
