Chapter 2: Bar Encounter

Chapter 2: Bar Encounter

Thinking of this, he blinked at Gu Ye in a good-natured manner.

Gu Ye's eyes were fixed on Chu Yan, the rage burning in them almost burning through the gentle mask on Chu Yan's face. He didn't know why, but he always felt that this newcomer had bad intentions.

"You," he uttered through gritted teeth. Gu Ye clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white from the force. The air was thick with gunpowder, almost exploding. The students around him dared not breathe. Even our homeroom teacher, Mr. Li, froze in place, unsure of what to do. Gu Ye was known for his fierce fighting skills, and this handsome newcomer was in for a rough time.

At this critical juncture, an anxious voice came from the back door.

"Brother Ye, Brother Ye." A thin boy with dyed yellow hair stuck half of his head in, winking at Gu Ye desperately, and lip-syncing exaggeratedly: "Same place! Urgent!"

Gu Ye's movements suddenly paused. He glared at Chu Yan fiercely, a look that seemed to say, "You're lucky. I'll settle with you next time." Then, without hesitation, he turned around and kicked the chair blocking his way. Amid the harsh clatter of tables and chairs, he followed the yellow-haired boy out the back door of the classroom and disappeared down the corridor.

Skipping classes is as natural to him as drinking water.

The classroom was filled with suppressed gasps and murmurs. Teacher Li's face was grim, but she was clearly helpless against Gu Ye's actions. She could only force a soothing smile at Chu Yan, "Don't mind, Chu Yan. Gu Ye has a quick temper. You can just sit in the empty seat next to him."

"Okay, Teacher Li." Chu Yan's smile was gentle, as if nothing had happened. He calmly walked to the empty seat that belonged to him and sat down.

He sorted through his brand-new books, his eyes glancing at the empty seat next to him. Tsk, the feral cat with its fur standing on end ran pretty fast. But even if the prey escaped, the hunter always had his own way of amusing himself.

The school bell rings like a clarion call of liberation.

Chu Yan declined the invitations of several female classmates who tried to strike up a conversation, his face adorned with a perfectly apologetic expression. He walked out of the luxurious gates of Shenghua College, his backpack on his back. The gentle smile on his face quickly faded in the afterglow of the setting sun, replaced by a playful, predatory look.

The goal is clear: the hottest gay bar in the city, "Undercurrent".

As night fell, the "undercurrent" blurred the light and shadows, and the deafening music pounded against his chest. Chu Yan glided into the crowd like a graceful fish. He had shed his school uniform, leaving only the white shirt underneath, two buttons undone at the collar, revealing a delicate collarbone. His gentle disguise was cleverly stripped away by the ambiguous light. He leaned against the bar, a glass of amber whiskey between his fingers, his eyes lazily scanning the room.

Soon, a well-built man in a tight black T-shirt approached, holding a glass of wine. He was clearly attracted by Chu Yan's contradictory temperament—the tension between youthful elegance and mature charm.

"Alone?" The man's voice was low and suggestive.

The corners of Chu Yan's lips curled up in a completely different arc from that in school. His eyes wandered over the other person as if he was evaluating a commodity: "Not now." The ending of his tone was slightly raised, as if with a hook.

The atmosphere heated up. The two men chatted in low voices, the distance between them shrinking under the influence of alcohol and music. The man's eyes were fiery, and his hand seemed to casually rest on the back of Chu Yan's chair. Chu Yan smiled and was about to make the next move, but his eyes habitually glanced towards the stage.

The next second, the smile on his face froze.

The figure clutching an electric guitar in the center of the stage was incredibly familiar. His unruly short silver hair gleamed in the bright light, his forelock damp with sweat, a few strands clinging to his smooth forehead. He lowered his head to pluck the strings, his voice blasting through the microphone, its impact, a mixture of anger, confusion, and raw vitality, hushing the bustling bar for a moment.

Chu Yan's fingers gripping the wine glass slowly tightened.

"What's wrong?" The man next to him keenly noticed Chu Yan's stiffness, and his hand slid down to put it on his shoulder.

Chu Yan dodged to the side, his movement small but incredibly swift. His expression shifted in the light and shadows, and almost instantly, the mask of gentleness and harmlessness he had worn at school reappeared, though a hint of coldness and irritation, the interruption of a good time, lingered in his eyes.

"Sorry," he stood up, his voice returning to clarity and gentleness, with a hint of embarrassment and apology, "I suddenly remembered that the door of my house seemed to be unlocked, so I had to go back and check." This excuse was laughably clumsy, but coupled with his extremely deceptive face and the "panicked" expression at the moment, it was actually somewhat credible.

The man was stunned, obviously not expecting this sudden turn of events: "Ah? The door is not locked? Then..."

"I'm really sorry. Let's talk again next time we have a chance." Chu Yan spoke faster. He put down his wine glass and even bowed slightly to express his apology. Then he turned and left the hunting ground that had just aroused his interest.

Walking out of the "undercurrent", the cool night air hit him. The gentleness on Chu Yan's face completely disappeared. He tugged at his collar and walked towards the black car parked on the side of the road.

[System: Gu Ye, a key figure, detected.] A cold electronic voice echoed in my mind, like adding fuel to the fire.

Chu Yan mocked him mercilessly in his mind: [By the time you detect it, the daylily will be cold.] He leaned against the soft leather of the back seat, and the image of Gu Ye screaming on the stage with a guitar in his arms flashed through his mind, overlapping with the irritable and angry figure during the day.

Chu Yan stared out the window at the rapidly receding lights. The irritation in his eyes gradually subsided, replaced by a calmer light. His slender fingers unconsciously tapped lightly on the leather seat.

This task didn't seem to be troublesome. Chu Yan's mouth slowly curled up into a cold arc, and he said to the system in his mind that the first step was to get the wild cat back into the cage.

The system slowly typed out a question mark.

Chu Yan paused his fingertips, his eyes darkening as he spoke with the certainty of someone in control of the situation. "Let him study hard and make progress every day."

[System: Data shows that the target person, Gu Ye, has been skipping classes for a long time, has poor grades, and has no interest in academics.]

"So?" Chu Yan chuckled in his mind, with a hint of sarcasm, "A good student in the general sense is easier to control, and more qualified to become a qualified pawn to fight for what I want."

His gaze turned to the window and his tone became unquestionable.

The car drove steadily into the night. Chu Yan leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes again. In his mind, only a clear plan remained: how to gradually lead the unruly, scurrying silver-haired wild cat back to its proper "cage."
