Chapter 69 Bracelet
The morning light filtered through the slits in the curtains, casting a warm glow across the floor. When Chu Yan awoke, the first thing he felt was the heavy weight and furry touch of his arms. Gu Ye's silver-haired head was buried in the crook of his neck, sound asleep, his breathing even and long, his arm still domineeringly wrapped around Chu Yan's waist.
As the memory of last night returned, Chu Yan curled his lips in frustration. Gu Ye was the perfect example of being both a novice and a playful person. He was clearly incredibly nervous and awkward, shaking uncontrollably in the later stages, yet he still had a stubborn will to not give in, persistently biting and nibbling on him, leaving numerous marks. So much so that Chu Yan, looking at the tiny red marks on his collarbone and chest, couldn't tell who looked more "tragic," him or Gu Ye.
A rhythmic, emotionless electronic voice repeated in his mind: [I am just a flirtatious person, but not a vulgar one.] This was the argument Chu Yan had used to reject Gu Ye before. It was now accurately captured and looped by the system, full of undisguised sarcasm.
Chu Yan: “…”
He felt a rare tinge of embarrassment. He had just spoken these words when the man was killed. Although Gu Ye had brought this upon himself to some extent, it still felt incredibly embarrassing now.
[It was an accident, a pure accident.] Chu Yan tried to explain, [I was drunk.]
The system scoffed, its electronic voice full of the implication that you should continue to make up stories: [Believe that you are impulsive under the influence of alcohol, it is better to believe that I can upgrade to the main system tomorrow.] It had witnessed Chu Yan's "clear-headed" indulgence and even guidance of the incident last night.
Chu Yan touched his nose and decided to skip the topic. Unable to fall asleep even lying down, he carefully pulled his arm out of Gu Ye's arms. Gu Ye grumbled in dissatisfaction in his sleep, but did not wake up. Chu Yan tucked in the corner of the quilt for him and got out of bed.
After washing up, he walked into the living room, where a large swath of sunlight streamed in and landed on the floor. Feeling inexplicably good, Chu Yan simply tied on an apron and walked into the kitchen, intending to make breakfast.
As the sizzling sound of fried eggs and the aroma of bacon filled the air, the bedroom door opened. Gu Ye rubbed his eyes and shuffled out, his face still dazed and slightly flustered, a look of fresh sleep. It wasn't until he saw Chu Yan's apron-clad figure in the kitchen that the panic dissipated, replaced by a nearly overflowing sense of satisfaction.
He walked over quietly, hugged Chu Yan's waist from behind, and rested his chin on Chu Yan's shoulder, like a big koala.
Chu Yan was concentrating on flipping the fried eggs when he felt the weight and warmth on his back. He raised his eyebrows and asked, "A sneak attack so early in the morning?"
Gu Ye buried his face in the crook of his shoulder and nuzzled it. His voice was hoarse from waking up and full of self-righteous coquettishness: "This isn't a sneak attack, this is coquettishness." He was in such a good mood that he felt like he was about to fly. The aches and pains in his body were suppressed by this overwhelming sense of happiness. Although the progress of last night was completely different from his plan to "overwhelm Chu Yan", the result... well, the result was good. He felt lazy now, as if he was soaking in warm water, and all he wanted was to cling to Chu Yan.
Chu Yan laughed and let him hold him. He was always generous and indulgent to his bed partner, especially since they had just eaten it last night, and it tasted quite good.
So for the next few days, Gu Ye completely transformed into a humanoid pendant, following Chu Yan wherever he went, pouring water, fetching bowls, arranging plates, with a silver-haired "little tail" always trailing behind Chu Yan. Chu Yan let him do whatever he wanted, occasionally feeding him a mouthful of freshly fried bacon.
The two of them finished their breakfast slowly, then curled up on the sofa to watch a boring movie. They didn't decide to go out for a walk until the sun became lazy.
There was still a day and a half left in the holiday, and Chu Yan didn't have any place he wanted to go, but Gu Ye, with a clear goal in mind, dragged him around and around and led him into a hidden handmade shop.
The shop was small, decorated in a warm, log-style style. The air was filled with the delicate scent of sandalwood and sawdust. The walls were covered with a variety of handmade wooden items, the most common being bracelets of various materials and shapes. Gu Ye greeted the owner and asked for two braided ropes and a small basket of beads.
The two men sat down at a small workbench by the window. Faced with the dazzling array of small beads and accessories, the two young men, both considered adept in their respective fields, now felt a bit clumsy and had difficulty choosing. They had no skill, relying solely on intuition and aesthetic taste, slowly selecting and matching, trying to make the ropes in their hands look better.
After nearly an hour of tossing and turning, they finally made two bracelets with similar styles but different characteristics. Gu Ye picked up the one made by Chu Yan, examined it carefully, and then handed both to the shop owner. Pointing to the dark blue wooden beads on one of them, he said, "Master, please help us carve the letter 'Y' on this one."
——Ye from Gu Ye, Yan from Chu Yan.
He took Chu Yan's hand and solemnly tied his bracelet, which had beads engraved with the letter "Y", to Chu Yan's left wrist. Then he stretched out his empty wrist in front of Chu Yan, looking at him with bright eyes, the meaning of which was self-evident.
Chu Yan smiled knowingly, picked up the string he made with the same style but slightly different color, and carefully put it on Gu Ye.
The two bracelets are placed side by side, revealing a youthful yet warm tacit understanding in the afterglow of the setting sun.
"Tsk, a couple's trick." The system snorted in Chu Yan's mind, its tone unsettling, whether it was disdain or something else entirely. But the next second, it silently opened a shopping interface within its own data stream and began browsing a variety of colorful electronic beads. It also wanted to string a few data versions for itself.
