Love with a Rich Godfather 1
Tao Yuan walked into the classroom carrying his painting box. There were about twenty long tables in the classroom. He chose the one by the window, walked over and sat down, waiting for the Chinese painting teacher to come to class.
The classroom is clean and bright, with vases decorating the corners, and fresh flowers on the podium and the tables in the last row of the classroom.
Several girls in the classroom were sitting together and chatting quietly. Even though the class had not started yet, it was a rule of the National Academy that students were not allowed to talk loudly or make noises in the classroom.
After Tao Yuan put out all his painting supplies, he supported his chin and stared blankly. The ink painting curtains by the window were tied up and the window was open. He turned his head to look out the window, looking at the scenery outside.
Such fine classrooms, such a wonderful school environment, and the elegance and sophistication behind it all require a substantial financial commitment. Tuition at the National Academy is quite expensive. The original owner, with both parents deceased and a sick brother, was on the verge of owing the tuition. But since Tao Yuan had replaced him, he naturally found a way to secure the tuition and help him realize his dream.
The students gradually entered the classroom. Shortly after the class bell rang, a middle-aged man with a large belly and waist, wearing a modified white shirt with Han elements, walked in. This was their Chinese painting teacher and the class's head teacher, named Hu Wenshan. He was a middle-aged man with a sturdy figure. Perhaps it was because he was a Chinese painting teacher, but he didn't have any of the ancient style, yet he liked to wear ancient clothes.
Hu Wenshan sat down behind the podium and looked at the students below. "Before class begins, I have something to say. The list of scholarship recipients has been announced. This year's grade-based scholarship, as well as our class scholarship, has once again been awarded to Xu Shaoyan. Congratulations, Xu Shaoyan. Remember to stay humble and keep working hard to improve yourself."
"Thank you, teacher. I will work harder." Xu Shaoyan said with a smile and nodded slightly to the classmates around him who congratulated him.
Hu Wenshan turned his gaze towards Tao Yuan, observing his reaction. He was surprised to find that he was actually quite calm. After waiting for a while, seeing that he still had no reaction, he could only clear his throat and say, "Okay, then... well, let's start the class."
Tao Yuan's calmness surprised the other students, who glanced at him from time to time.
Hu Wenshan pressed the button on the desk, turning on the control screen on the desk, and the screen behind him immediately lit up.
Hu Wenshan looked like he was about to start teaching, but he didn't formally begin. He finally couldn't help but asked, "Student Du Qingyu, do you have anything to say?"
Tao Yuan knew exactly what he meant by this question, but he looked at him with a slightly puzzled expression and said, "Should I say something? What does the teacher want me to say?"
"Don't you have anything to say about Xu Shaoyan winning two scholarships again?" Hu Wenshan looked at him and asked.
Tao Yuan turned his head with an indifferent expression, looked at Xu Shaoyan and said, "Congratulations, Xu Shaoyan."
Xu Shaoyan was also surprised by his attitude. After a pause, he replied, "Thank you, thank you."
"Just like that?" Hu Wenshan thought to himself, what happened to this person today? Why is he so calm?
"I've already told him congratulations. What else does the teacher want me to do?" Tao Yuan said.
"Well..., very good. Your current attitude shows that you have grown up." After Hu Wenshan reacted, he knew that he had been too obvious. In order to hide his guilt, he showed a relieved expression.
"What I'm going to talk about today is the method of painting the combination of mountains and water..." Hu Wenshan finally started teaching, but he couldn't calm down because he was waiting for Tao Yuan to quarrel with him so that he could give him a third warning on the grounds of disrespecting his teacher.
Even more surprised than Hu Wenshan, and even more regretful that Tao Yuan hadn't made a scene, was Xu Shaoyan, the scholarship recipient. He knew the original recipient's family situation well, and he knew that if he didn't receive the scholarship, he wouldn't be able to pay the next quarter's tuition, and if he couldn't, he would have to withdraw. So why was he so calm? This left Xu Shaoyan quite bewildered and puzzled.
Xu Shaoyan wondered, could it be that he already had enough money for tuition? But he'd been keeping tabs on him, and hadn't noticed any other sources of income. Furthermore, he'd recently offended someone at his job and was about to lose it. And he had a sick brother who needed a lot of money for medicine. So why was he so calm now?
If the original owner was sitting here, there was a very high possibility that he would quarrel with Hu Wenshan, but the person sitting here was Tao Yuan. How could he quarrel with the other party when he knew the other party's purpose?
The original owner had an aloof personality, but a somewhat irritable temper. Especially after his father went bankrupt and died of illness, the pressure of life and studies made him more impetuous, impulsive and irritable.
The original owner had put in a lot of effort to get this quarter's scholarship, hoping to use it to pay for next quarter's tuition. He had originally thought that even if he didn't get the senior scholarship, as long as he got the class scholarship, at least tuition would be covered, and his burden would be reduced. However, his classmate, Xu Shaoyan, who had received the senior scholarship, was certain to receive the class scholarship as well.
If Xu Shaoyan had truly earned the scholarship based on his own merit, the original owner wouldn't have had much to say; after all, he couldn't be as good as the other person and had to accept his fate. However, the original owner's scores in academic subjects were higher than Xu Shaoyan's, and his level of proficiency in traditional Chinese painting was comparable. Yet, his painting scores were always severely suppressed, while Xu Shaoyan, whose painting skills were slightly lower than his, always scored much higher than his.
Because the major score accounted for a relatively large proportion, the original owner's total score was lower than Xu Shaoyan's every time, and then Xu Shaoyan took away the scholarship.
This situation had occurred more than once, and the original owner couldn't help but confront Hu Wenshan twice, but each time he retorted that Xu Shaoyan's work was more artistic, hence the higher score. After angering the original owner, he then gave him a demerit for disrespecting his teacher.
The original owner had been punished twice. If he was punished three times, he would not be able to participate in the Youth Cup Chinese Painting Competition at the end of this semester.
Hu Wenshan and Xu Shaoyan both knew very well that the original owner's Chinese painting level was better than Xu Shaoyan's. Hu Wenshan could lower his score in normal Chinese painting performance, but in such major competitions, the works would be submitted and then judged by master-level Chinese painting artists. It would be difficult for Xu Shaoyan to beat the original owner.
This competition was very important to Xu Shaoyan, so he had his father bribe Hu Wenshan to find a way to prevent the original owner from participating. However, Tao Yuan's calmness and composure completely exceeded their expectations, and they were secretly anxious. If they missed this opportunity to anger him, they would have to think of other ways.
Hu Wenshan was absent-minded during his lecture, his mind still troubled by Tao Yuan's behavior. Xu Shaoyan seemed to be listening attentively, but in fact he was also absent-minded.
Tao Yuan, seemingly calm and expressionless, secretly held Hu Wenshan's teaching in deep disdain. It was truly ironic that a teacher who only taught the basics of Chinese painting and had no experience in artistic expression would actually lower the original student's grade based on the artistry of his work.
However, if Hu Wenshan's artistic level was high enough, he would not be a teacher here, but would become a master whose work is worth a villa.
Artistic expression mainly depends on talent and inspiration; it is difficult to reach a certain level through acquired efforts.
After the one and a half hour class, Hu Wenshan couldn't help but glance at Tao Yuan while packing up his things, and deliberately slowed down his movements, anxiously waiting for Tao Yuan to find him and question him.
Tao Yuan had already packed up his things, but as long as Hu Wenshan didn't leave the classroom, they, the students, couldn't leave first, so he sat and waited for Hu Wenshan to leave.
Hu Wenshan took much longer than usual to pack his things. Seeing that Tao Yuan had no intention of questioning him, he could only reluctantly leave the classroom with his painting box.
Seeing Tao Yuan stand up and about to leave, Xu Shaoyan immediately called him in a low voice, "Qingyu, let's go together. I want to talk to you about borrowing money."
"Thank you for your kindness, but I didn't ask you to borrow money, and you don't need to lend me money." Tao Yuan didn't even look at him and walked out.
"I know you are embarrassed to ask, and I also know that you really need money right now. You don't have to be polite with me, really." Xu Shaoyan followed with the painting box.
Tao Yuan walked into the corridor, stopped, turned around and looked at him, and said seriously, "I didn't take the initiative to ask you to borrow money. Did I fail to satisfy your vanity? After all, you have asked me to borrow money many times before, and you have lost a lot of self-esteem with me. You know I am short of money now, and you think this is a good opportunity to regain your self-esteem, so you insist on lending me money. Am I right?"
Tao Yuan spoke exactly what Xu Shaoyan was thinking, not even a single word was wrong. Being exposed in front of the other students, Xu Shaoyan felt extremely embarrassed, but he still said innocently, "What are you talking about? Why do you have to think so badly of me? I just think we were friends before, so I really want to help you."
"I'm really sorry," Tao Yuan said. "Whether it's your pride or your vanity, I don't want you to get satisfaction from me, so no matter what you say, I won't accept your help. I'm just so narrow-minded. Are you angry? If so, that's exactly what I want."
"You, do you really have to talk like this?" Xu Shaoyan looked helpless and sour.
"Well, since you've asked me to, I'll change my tone." Tao Yuan thought, since you're the one who's asking for trouble, I'll oblige you. "As one of your father's illegitimate children, you've always had low self-esteem. When you were little, both your biological father and your adoptive father ignored you and your mother. You and your mother lived in extreme hardship, so you often asked me to borrow money."
Xu Shaoyan's expression changed immediately. He didn't expect Tao Yuan to say these words. These were things he didn't want others to know.
"But I really don't understand," Tao Yuan continued, "I didn't make you a bastard. Your father is a stud, spreading his seeds everywhere. If you want to blame someone, just blame him. Or you can blame your mother who has no self-control and cheated on her after getting married. Why do you have to pick on me? Just because I lent you money when I was a child? I'm really sorry. I really shouldn't have lent you money out of pity. I should have let you starve so that you wouldn't bother me now."
"Don't go too far!" Xu Shaoyan's face turned purple with anger. "Insulting someone's parents, are you still a human being?"
"Did I say anything wrong?" Tao Yuan asked with a puzzled expression. "Is it because your father didn't have many illegitimate children, or because your mother didn't cheat on her husband and give birth to you with another married man? If I ever said anything that was slanderous about you, or your parents, tell me and I'll apologize."
Xu Shaoyan's blood rushed to his head, his vision blurred and he was shaking with anger, but he couldn't say a word.
"I didn't say a single word wrong, right?" Tao Yuan said with a straight face. "If you don't want your shameful life story to be told, you shouldn't have come to provoke me."
"You're going too far!" Xu Shaoyan said gritting his teeth.
"What are you talking about? Why are you saying I'm going too far?" Tao Yuan imitated his tone and demeanor and said, "I'm telling the truth. If you didn't let me say it, why did you keep provoking me? I thought you wanted to force me to say these things, so you did this. After all, I'm the only one in this school who knows your past life. We used to be friends, didn't we?"
After Tao Yuan finished speaking in his tone, he sneered and turned away.
Xu Shaoyan stood there, his anger so intense that Kuai Yao could barely stand. He was clearly the one in trouble, so why was he still so nonchalant after he had stolen his scholarship? Even though he was different now, he still couldn't trample on his dignity. Was it because of his past that he couldn't let it get to the surface?
Some students who hadn't left yet stood aside, their mouths wide open in surprise as they heard this. It was surprising that Xu Shaoyan, who was usually gentle and cheerful, had such a background and past. It was really a big gossip.
"Forget it, Shaoyan. He is just that kind of person with a weird personality. You know that. It's not worth getting angry with him." Several classmates who had never gotten any bad favors from Xu Shaoyan came over to comfort him, but they were actually too surprised to calm down, and their consolation was a bit perfunctory.
"I'm not angry," Xu Shaoyan tried to remain calm and said with a lost smile, "I'm just a little sad. I never thought that I always treated him as a friend, but he misunderstood my feelings like this."
They looked at each other, and one of the boys said, "Good intentions don't always bring good rewards. People like him will suffer a lot, so just ignore him."
Xu Shaoyan forced a smile and walked downstairs with his classmates.
The original owner was aloof and aloof, very cold towards everyone, and usually never attended class gatherings. Xu Shaoyan, on the other hand, was sociable, always smiling and welcoming, and often invited his classmates out to play. So, it was clear who was more popular among the classmates, and who was on the verge of being ostracized.
As Tao Yuan walked downstairs, the man walking towards him stopped and opened his mouth to say something. Tao Yuan walked right past him, as if he hadn't seen him, without even giving him a chance to speak.
"Hmph!" Liu Xiujie was ignored by Tao Yuan and was very unhappy. He snorted coldly and continued walking forward.
"Your boyfriend is here to pick you up, so we won't be the third wheel anymore. Let's go with him." The classmates who went downstairs with Xu Shaoyan laughed and teased Liu Xiujie after seeing him.
Xu Shaoyan forced a smile and waved goodbye to the classmates who were leaving.
In this world, same-sex love and marriage are normal, and same-sex marriage has been legally protected since ancient times. However, ancient people valued the continuation of the family line, and the lack of a successor was a serious matter, so same-sex marriage was relatively rare.
However, as the times have developed to the present day, technology and medicine have long since matured, and same-sex couples can also have children together, so more and more same-sex couples are getting married.
