Chapter 70 Viscount

Nazra thought for a moment and added some more to Lind's plan:

"I disguised my caravan and secretly sneaked back to the orc kingdom, and I mingled with them to find those pro-peace orcs. I happen to have some connections, which should come in handy at this time."

"Then we can just wait for Tamaline to jump into the prepared trap herself."

After listening, Linde frowned and noticed the place where Nazra had left behind.

“You can also do this: have your caravan return to the Orc Kingdom openly and legitimately, spreading the news of Miss Nazra’s death to surrounding powers along the way.”

"First, it will lull the pro-war faction into a false sense of security; second, if things go as expected, the rumor that the heir to the throne died in a foreign land will certainly attract the attention of the pro-peace faction."

"At that time, you will be able to connect with the peace faction almost immediately."

"At that time, we can easily resolve this crisis by simply borrowing the power of the peace faction."

"Miss Nazla will have to make some sacrifices on this journey."

As Nazra listened to the plan Linde had come up with for her, she couldn't help but admire how much better Linde's proposal was.

By faking his own death, he could secretly return to China, thus providing the pro-war faction with false intelligence and quickly contacting the pro-peace faction, completely drawing them to his side.

Moreover, it can greatly reduce the risk of being assassinated a second time along the way.

That's definitely a good method.

"Okay, then let's do it your way."

Nazla was now completely convinced and had no objection to Linde's plan.

But then, Linde changed his tone and said:

"However, there's one more thing I need your help with."

Lind glanced at Nix, who was dozing in the corner, and another idea came to him.

“Nix will remain in my territory. She is now my servant and it is impossible for her to return to the Orc Kingdom with you.”

Linde said firmly, giving Nazla no chance to refute.

"You can claim that the Holy Blood Orc you're looking for died outside, and use that as a pretext to better strike at the pro-war faction."

"We can also use this as an excuse not to participate in this Beast God's Wrath, thus reducing the tribe's losses."

"and……"

Linde looked at Nazla.

"I don't want to see my allies getting worse and worse off in the orc kingdom either."

…………

Finally, Nazra agreed to leave Nix in Lind's territory. After making her decision, she quickly recited the Beast God's prayer several times, hoping that the Beast God would not blame her for this.

After making the decision, Nazira immediately got up, summoned several close attendants, and carried out the prepared plan.

This was done very discreetly. Apart from the guards around her who knew that Nazla was still alive, the rest of the caravan believed that Nazla had died in the assassination attempt.

Soon, a somber atmosphere filled the caravan, and even the tall minotaur guards were listless.

Thus, Nazla's disguise was considered successful.

These next few days, we must keep Nazla hidden to deal with Swift's probing.

If she doesn't come, Nazra will have to embark on her journey back to the Orc Kingdom with her caravan in three days at most.

However, according to Lind's guess, Swift would send someone to his territory within two days.

Sure enough, the very next day, a large and impressive procession appeared at the pass of Gur Mountain.

Lind looked at the dusty horizon and gestured for Astaire and Eric to get ready.

Although it seemed that the viscount did not have many men with him, Lind still had to make some preparations.

"Aster, pass down the order: today, make sure the soldiers are on their best, I'm going to have a good meeting with this Viscount."

Looking at the flags carried by the procession in the distance, Linde wondered to himself, "The Viscount himself has come. Is there something I haven't thought of?"

The incident happened suddenly, and we had already made all the necessary preparations, so we could only react to whatever came our way.

Soon, a fast horse charged out from the distance and headed straight for the territory.

Linde looked closely and realized it was the scribe he had seen in the Fortified City before, the fat mage Herman.

Hermann approached and shouted at the top of his lungs:

"Someone come quickly and announce that Viscount Swift has come to pay his respects to Baron Lind."

Linde smiled slightly, a hint of composure in his expression, and strode forward to meet him.

"So it's Secretary Hermann. Please inform the Viscount that Lind is waiting here."

Hermann dismounted, a broad smile on his face, but his eyes scanned his surroundings.

A short while later, Viscount Swift rode up slowly on his tall horse. His eyes were sharp, and when he saw Lind, he pulled on the reins and stopped.

"Baron Linde, it's a pleasure to meet you. I was busy with important business last time and we couldn't have a proper conversation. I've come to visit you today."

Viscount Swift's tone was seemingly polite, but it concealed a sharp edge.

Linde smiled and returned the greeting: "Viscount, it is an honor to have you grace our humble abode with your presence. May I ask what brings you here?"

After surveying the surroundings, Viscount Swift slowly spoke: "Mainly to see how your territory is developing, and to see if there are any special products that can be traded."

Seeing the wavering look in Viscount Swift's eyes, Lind knew he had guessed correctly.

This viscount was clearly there to gather information.

It seems my guess was right. I had been wondering if there was another mastermind behind it all, since there was an element of gambling in thinking that Viscount Swift and Tamalyn were colluding.

In retrospect, we may have overestimated these nobles.

Linde knew what was going on, but his face remained impassive as he smiled and said:

"Your Excellency, although my territory is still in its early stages, it does have some unique products. I wonder which type you would be interested in?"

Viscount Swift laughed heartily:

"Why don't you show me around? Maybe I'll find something I like."

Linde then led him on a tour of the territory. Along the way, Viscount Swift casually inquired about the territory's population, output, and other information, but in reality, he was trying to get information out of Linde.

Linde skillfully deflected the question, revealing no crucial information. Suddenly, Viscount Swift abruptly changed the subject:

"Baron Linde, have you ever heard of the Shadowbinder Alliance?"

This question left Linde somewhat bewildered, and he couldn't think of a reply for a moment.

Viscount Swift observed Linde's reaction and then said:

"It seems you've already seen it. Be careful. These Shadowbinders only care about money and are mostly unreliable. Only the information you get after you've paid them is true."

"Otherwise... if they trick you, you'll just have to swallow it."
