Chapter 24 Gold-level Strength

A streak of light appeared in an instant, and the enchanted javelin made a loud noise the moment it hit the armor plate.

With a "thud," the enchanted spear was immediately deflected by the armor plate.

This was within Lind's expectations, since Aster's attacks had also been ineffective when fighting the trolls.

Linde stepped forward to examine the armor plate that had been hit, and saw that the spot where it had been hit had left a dent and a deep mark.

Linde picked up the armor plate and examined it against the sunlight. Perhaps the armor enchantment was working, because there was a small hole in the center of the dent caused by a spearhead.

"Yes, it's better than I expected; at least it punctured the skin."

"but……"

Linde looked at the broken wooden stake behind the armor plate; this thing could probably only protect against cuts.

If a weapon with piercing damage, such as a spear, or other blunt weapon were to strike it, the protective effect would likely be much worse.

Linde stroked his chin thoughtfully.

Thinking of this, Linde turned to Astaire and said:

"Aster, why don't you give it a try? Let's see what kind of cut can completely destroy it."

"yes!"

Astaire drew his frequently used longsword from his waist, its gleaming in the sunlight.

The surrounding soldiers immediately became excited and began to discuss among themselves:

"Look! Lord Aster is about to make his move!"

"Look at the master's sword."

"It is said that this longsword was personally bestowed upon Astaire by the old count, and a large amount of mithril was used in its blade!"

"Nonsense, how do you think the name 'Silver Light Sword' came about?"

Listening to the heated discussion among the soldiers around him, Lind learned for the first time Aster's nickname among the soldiers, "Silver Sword," which truly lived up to his name.

Just as everyone was discussing, Astaire got into position and, as the discussion gradually subsided, locked onto the armor plate.

Everyone held their breath, staring wide-eyed at Astaire, not daring to utter a sound.

Astaire first drew a straight horizontal slash, the sword light instantly striking the armor plate and leaving a deep wound.

"My lord, this was just a normal strike; it could only scratch the armor plates."

Aster then changed his stance and thrust out a straight punch, which only left a small hole in the armor plate, but it did indeed penetrate the plate.

"This is a normal stabbing."

Linde stared at the armor plates and pondered, "These armor plates are really powerful. They can even defend against some gold-level attacks. Their protective performance is terrifying."

It's important to understand that for a Gold-level warrior like Astaire, a single ordinary strike from him could almost slice a regular soldier covered in scale armor in two.

Such power could only cause scratches on the armor plates.

Then, the soldier next to him replaced it with another intact plate of armor, so that Aster could deliver a full-force blow.

Astaire's expression turned serious. He gripped his longsword tightly with both hands, and a silvery-white light shone from the blade. This light flowed along the sword, creating a powerful aura that put considerable pressure on everyone present.

As Aster swung his sword, a burst of silver sword energy shot out, like a silver thread, striking the armor plate, but without making a sound.

Everyone stared intently at the wooden stake where the armor plates were placed. As if only then realizing what was happening, the armor plates, along with the stake behind them, gradually slid down.

A full-force attack at the Gold level—that's terrifying!

Linde was quite shocked. He had underestimated Astaire's strength before, but it was true that he hadn't had a clear understanding of it before.

When fighting the cultists, Astaire couldn't unleash his full killing power because he was holding a shield in one hand and a sword in the other. When fighting the trolls, he had to keep a close eye on their clubs, since those things were also incredibly powerful.

Linde had always thought that the strength of a Gold-level warrior was nothing special, but now it seems he had really underestimated the guardian knight beside him.

Seeing that the test was almost over, Linde clapped his hands, pulling everyone back to reality from their shock, and said:

"Alright, that concludes the test. Everyone, tidy up this place. Those who went out last night, go back and rest. The rest of you, come on patrol."

"Yes! Long live the lord!"

Someone shouted something, and the other soldiers echoed it.

After all, if these armor plates were used to make armor, they would definitely be among the first to be equipped with them, greatly improving their safety on the battlefield.

Lind yawned, waved to dismiss the crowd, then called to Astaire and gave him instructions:

"Aster, please bear with us these past two days. We've just arrived in the territory, and everything is in a state of disarray."

"Later, please select another 20 good riders and have them get a good rest today. Tomorrow I will take them out to explore the terrain around the territory. The horses should also be prepared."

“Yes, sir. I will obey your orders.” Aster then took the order and left.

Watching Astaire's departing figure, Lind thought that he really should prepare to expand his makeshift team. Every time he had to give orders, he had to ask Astaire. Even if Astaire wasn't annoyed, he was starting to feel annoyed himself.

It seems we can't keep working on the same sheep all the time; we need to start selecting the best workers.

Then, Linde returned to his tent, took off his armor, leaving only his underwear, sat on the bed, and began to think.

We're 70% confident about the Warcraft situation; at worst, we'll get a batch of high-quality equipment.

What truly troubled him was the furtive catgirl in his shadow; he had no idea what her purpose was or what she wanted to do.

Monitor me? But she sleeps most of the time. Assassinate me? That's even more impossible; if she wanted to kill me, she would have done it already.

Linde recalled that when he came out of the Fortified City, he kept feeling that someone was watching him, and now he thought it was probably the catgirl who did it.

Linde carefully considered some suspicious points along the way and concluded that it was probably when she possessed him while he was staying at the mansion. Combining this with the appearance of the missing honey jar here and the harassment of bees along the way, he was able to glean some useful information.

I boarded the bus in the fortified city. It likes honey (I think), likes to hide in the shadows, and only follows me…

Linde became increasingly confused, and finally, his mind came to a strange conclusion:

Could she be a wild catgirl?!

"Ugh! Tch!"

The catgirl hiding in the shadows sneezed, stretched, rubbed her nose, rolled over, and went back to sleep.

Linde was speechless for a moment.

Perhaps drowsiness is contagious, because Linde also yawned, thinking to himself:

"Oh well, things will work themselves out. Let's just go with the flow and go to sleep!"

He then cast a cleansing spell on himself, rolled over into bed, and fell into a deep sleep.

…………

Meanwhile, Alice, who hadn't shown herself for almost a day, was meditating silently in her small tent, sensing the level of the magic network here.

The seemingly omnipotent genius girl now appears to be encountering some strange things.

"Hiss~ That's strange. Why does the density of the magic network increase the further away we are from the previous magic network node?"

"Following this direction, there are mountains and forests to the west... What is this?"

Suddenly, Alice seemed to sense something, and a powerful murmur entered her mind. Before she could hear the contents of the murmur, she fainted on her blanket.
