Chapter 40 Writing Letters

Linde moved the honey jar to an empty corner of the room and opened the lid.

Immediately, a rich, sweet aroma wafted out and filled the room.

Linde activated his active vision and began observing the catgirl to see if she would react to it.

After Lind opened the lid, the catgirl hiding in Lind's shadow quickly stirred.

First, my nostrils twitched as I smelled the honey, and then I was awakened by the scent of honey.

Then, drawn by the aroma of honey, they reached out towards the honey jar, eager to taste it.

But when he saw that Lind was still there, and still conscious, he fearfully withdrew his claws.

The catgirl seemed to recall something terrible, and shrank back in fear.

Seeing this, Linde thought to himself:

"It seems that the arrival of the Oracle of Magic had a significant psychological impact on her."

At the time, Lind speculated that it was probably because of the divine oracle that the catgirl hiding in Lind's shadow was also impacted by facing the gods directly.

As a result, the catgirl suffered considerable injuries and nearly lost her life. It was only because Linde possessed the Aura of Animation that she was able to stay alive.

Seeing that the catgirl didn't react, Linde started doing his own thing.

Linde found the paper and pen that the servant had kept on the table and began to write a letter.

"To my father, the great Earl Truk..."

"After I came to this territory, I benefited from the glory of my family and thrived here..."

"However, due to environmental limitations, we urgently need some personnel to assist us, and we hope that the secretary and steward who can write books will be able to do so..."

"May Father enjoy good health, and may the glory of the Truk family endure forever..."

After Lind stamped the letter, the “simple” plea for help was completed.

Then, Lind took out a beautiful piece of paper and began to write on it with a peculiar ink.

"Father, my group was attacked by cultists on the road. According to my investigation, these cultists are from the Dedication Society. Most of them are from the Earl's territory. One of them is a soldier who has been in the army for many years, and there is also a leader whose strength is comparable to that of a Gold-level cultist. I hope you will be careful. All the cultists here have been wiped out without exception, so please rest assured."

After finishing writing and checking that everything was correct, Linde sprinkled a peculiar powder onto the letter paper. Soon, the letter turned into ordinary letter paper, and the writing on it disappeared.

Then Lind put the two letters into the same envelope, heated the lacquer, and took out the family ring he was wearing on his finger.

This ring is engraved with the family crest, which can be used for stamping or imprinting, making it very convenient.

Linde then stamped it with the Earl's coat of arms, and thus an envelope containing a secret letter was made.

This is a rather old-fashioned method of confidentiality; if such an envelope is intercepted, it will not attract attention.

With an ordinary letter as a cover, unsuspecting people would only assume that the sender mistakenly included an extra blank sheet of paper.

In addition, the letters themselves have a special method of concealment, so only members of the Earl's family know how to make the letter paper visible.

This essentially eliminates the possibility of being discovered.

After doing all this, Lind made a copy of the same thing as a backup.

Three days after the first letter was sent, a second letter was sent, marked with a sign indicating that it was the second letter.

This way, we can know some of the possible scenarios and judge possible changes.

This old but relatively reliable method can sometimes be extremely useful.

After Lind finished doing all this, he put the letter in the drawer. Tomorrow he would instruct his servant to wrap it in a special waterproof cloth and then hand it over to the servant who was in charge of delivering mail.

Then, Linde turned around and saw that the honey jar on the ground had not been taken away by the catgirl. So, Linde changed into his pajamas, turned around and sat on the bed.

Seeing that Linde was about to fall asleep, the catgirl in the shadows immediately perked up.

Her constantly sharpened claws proved her impatience.

Seeing this, Linde bent down and tapped his own shadow on the floor to see if the catgirl would react.

The catgirl tilted her head in confusion as she looked at him, probably wondering why Linde was banging on the floor, completely oblivious to the fact that she had already been discovered.

Linde was speechless and tried to speak to the catgirl:

"Hello? Can you hear me? This is Lind."

The catgirl didn't hear the standard self-introduction, which made the scene quite awkward.

But judging from the catgirl's continued tilting of her head, Linde guessed that the space inside the shadow was probably completely different from the outside world, and sound probably couldn't travel through it.

Linde guessed that the catgirl probably didn't want to be discovered by him, so she wouldn't come out unless he was asleep, and she wouldn't even eat honey.

Linde had no choice but to lie down on the bed and pretend to go to sleep in order to lower the cat girl's guard.

After Linde lay down on the bed, he planned to pretend to be asleep, just like before.

As soon as Linde got into bed, the catgirl started to make a move, slowly moving towards the honey jar.

So Linde stopped what he was doing and prepared to tease the wild little guy.

Linde sat cross-legged on the bed, leaning against the crystal lamp beside the bed, and began to meditate.

"Since I have nothing to do, I might as well cultivate my mental strength."

Linde pretended to start meditating, but in reality, he kept monitoring the catgirl.

The catgirl was cautious at first. Seeing that Linde did not make a move, she did not rush to attack. Instead, she sat in the shadows and began to lick her fur.

After seeing that Linde didn't make any moves, he started to move again, his eyes constantly glancing back and forth between Linde and the honey jar.

Just as the catgirl was about to make another move, Linde pretended to cough, which startled the catgirl, who shrank back and stared at Linde with some resentment.

Lin De was filled with smugness. "Little brat, I have plenty of ways to deal with you."

And so the situation became a stalemate, with the person and the cat taking turns pushing and pulling, stuck in that spot.

After several attempts, seeing that the catgirl was no longer reacting, Linde stopped and lay down, pretending to be asleep.

This time, after Linde lay down and pretended to be asleep, the catgirl was very cautious, making several feints to try to confirm whether Linde was asleep. Linde, however, remained sound asleep, like an old Buddha.

However, the catgirl was very patient and waited for almost an hour before making her move, just when Linde was getting really sleepy.

The catgirl moved with incredible speed, shaking herself and leaping out of Lind's shadow, lunging towards the honey jar.
