Chapter 284 Compassion

Victor maintained the rigor (or perhaps arrogance) of a researcher, "Of course, real-world testing and fine-tuning are needed. We brought three complete 'resonant spike' prototype launchers, along with the accompanying charging devices and operation manuals. Additionally, twenty specially trained Ok technical sergeants will accompany us; they will be responsible for operation and maintenance. Furthermore…"

He picked up several oddly shaped bullets from the box, which looked like short, thick metal stakes.

"This is a prototype of the 'resonance armor-piercing projectile,' which can be loaded into your heavy ballistae or into the special launch tubes we provide."

They contain miniature resonant generators that activate upon hitting a target. While their power is far less than that of fixed transmitters, their superior flexibility and maneuverability allow them to attempt to interfere with or attack secondary targets such as joints and sensors.

Soren looked at the cold artifacts in the box, representing the cutting-edge technology of the Principality of Ork, and then at Victor's confident (or perhaps insane) face, his chest heaving violently.

The sense of defeat was replaced by a ruthlessness mixed with greed, a desire for revenge, and a desperate gamble.

"Alright, Mr. Horn!"

Soren abruptly stood up, a ferocious grin spreading across his face. "Deploy these 'little gifts' immediately! Have your technical sergeants teach my men how to use them! The next attack... no, tonight! I'll show Lind Truk that his iron toys aren't invincible! I'll use these spikes to nail his iron lumps one by one to the slopes of Blackrock Territory!"

He could almost see those invincible steel giants trembling in pain under the eerie purple light, their armor cracking, and finally turning into a pile of scrap metal.

The flames of revenge, mixed with dependence on Orc technology and a rekindled desire for conquest, burned fiercely in his eyes.

"As you wish, Your Excellency."

Victor Horn bowed gracefully, the curve of his lips deepening, his eyes behind his glasses flashing with a cold light.

For him, the battlefield of Blackrock Territory was nothing more than an excellent, large-scale testing ground for new weapons and the collection of valuable combat data.

As for Count Soren's ambitions and the lives of his soldiers? Those are merely quantifiable variables in the experimental report.

Meanwhile, on the other side...

The steel sky, the core command center.

On the enormous, dark blue screen, the latest developments of the Sas-Ork allied camp outside Anvil Canyon were clearly displayed:

Specially designed launchers, equipped with complex resonant cavities and violet ore, are being nervously set up by Oc technology sergeants; strangely shaped armor-piercing projectiles are being loaded onto ballistae; and an eerie atmosphere, a mixture of fear and vengeful anticipation, permeates the camp.

Astaire's projection stood beside the sand table, his voice carrying a metallic, cold hardness:

"My lord, a new type of energy device has appeared in the enemy camp. The model is unknown, but its energy signature is highly targeted. The target is very likely one of our 'Earthbreaker' units. It is being deployed by the technical sergeants of the Principality of Oak."

Alice frowned, as data streamed down like a waterfall on the several screens in front of her:

"High-intensity, non-destructive energy focusing detected... frequency scanning pattern... are they trying to lock onto a certain 'frequency'? Is it targeting the structural resonance of the energy core armor?! The Orks... they actually thought of this!"

Her voice carried a hint of surprise and seriousness.

Leonis gripped the hilt of her sword tightly, holy light rippled slightly around her:

"Despicable! Are they trying to use sorcery to destroy those machines?"

Master Della stroked his beard, his eyes grave:

"Structural resonance...this is indeed a theoretical approach to dealing with super armor."

Although it's crude, if the frequency is right... the consequences could be disastrous.

Our 'Earthbreaker' is not a combat unit; its armor design prioritizes robustness for mining operations and energy conduction, with insufficient redundancy for defense against specific frequency resonances.

The atmosphere in the command room instantly became tense.

The enemy did not act recklessly; they found a potentially fatal breakthrough.

However, Linde, standing in front of the control panel, simply watched the busy Orc technical soldiers and the devices emitting an ominous purple light on the screen. In his deep purple eyes, golden data flowed slowly like a galaxy.

His face showed no anger, no worry, not even a hint of surprise.

Yes, but only a kind of... compassionate calm.

“Resonance…frequency attack…” Lind muttered to himself, his voice as calm as stating a perfectly ordinary fact, “attempting to use primitive sound wave principles to shake the basic structural units designed by the Zedu civilization for mining purposes…”

He shook his head slightly, a faint, cold smile curving his lips, a smile that conveyed an absolute condescension that transcended the level of civilization.

"The idea... isn't wrong."

Linde's voice echoed clearly in the silent command room, carrying an indifferent air of complete control: "What a pity."

His fingertip lightly touched the air.

Buzz!

On the main screen, the markers representing the fifty "Earthbreaker" mining golems lit up instantly, and a dense stream of real-time data popped up next to each marker. The value of one of the core parameters—the [Structural Frequency Stability Field]—was quietly changing.

“Alice,” Lind’s voice was calm and even, “activate the secondary energy circuit of the ‘Earthshatter’ armor and inject a stream of random frequency perturbation particles. Parameter range: cover all resonant ranges that the Orks may scan, and switch randomly millions of times per second.”

"Yes!" Alice's eyes flashed, and she immediately entered commands on the interface. The rapidly scrolling data was reflected in her gray-blue eyes.

“Aster,” Lind turned his gaze to the Rock Guard commander, “order the ‘Earthshatter’ units to maintain vigilance. When the enemy’s ‘Resonant Spikes’ activate… don’t evade, let them ‘feel’ it.”

Linde's gaze returned to the screen, as if piercing through space, and he saw the Oak researchers who were setting up their "trump card" with great hope, and the Count Soren who was gritting his teeth.

"The mining machine's armor frequency can't even lock on..." He chuckled softly, his voice containing the most thorough denial of humanity's so-called "cutting-edge technology," and the deepest mockery of this war, which he saw as child's play and was caused by greed.

"It seems that it will be difficult to win these people over with just these insignificant lumps of iron..."

To be honest, with Lind's current strength, it might be more effective to directly use mental projection and the power of the magic network to create powerful destructive spells above these armies.

However, that might significantly reduce the effectiveness and could even make one's standing among humans seem...inhuman.

Linde intends to completely conquer them in a way that they can all understand!
