Early January of the Holy Light Calendar 3471
Because of its latitude, the western continent was dry and cold, and it didn't snow much throughout the winter. Linde was very disappointed not to see the snow-covered landscape.
Along the way, Lind was overwhelmed with sights. He witnessed firsthand many magnificent landscapes that he had previously only glimpsed on the internet.
The most prominent feature along the way is the massive mountain range made of gray-white boulders, whose grandeur is astonishing.
Looking out from a distance, the mountain range stretches endlessly, as if a sleeping dragon lies across the land, giving one a sense of boundless desolation.
On this vast and boundless land, there grows an endless primeval forest.
Sunlight filters through the gaps in the leaves, casting dappled shadows, making the entire forest lush and verdant.
In addition, there are all sorts of incredibly strange magical creatures. From time to time, a flock of enormous birds covered in fiery red feathers soars across the sky.
The commotion in the air startled the beasts on the ground. A group of docile beasts, as large as dinosaurs, moved forward slowly, their steady and powerful steps causing the ground to tremble slightly with each step.
But even these wondrous sights gradually lost their novelty over time.
It has been almost half a month since we set off from Truk. We resupplyed in several small territories along the way. Being the second son of an earl is very convenient no matter where I am. The next stop is that famous fortified city.
The entire journey was smooth, and from the very beginning, Linde was nestled in the spacious noble carriage.
It's no wonder it's a carriage reserved for nobles; it greatly reduces vibrations, and you won't experience any particularly bumpy ride regardless of the road conditions.
In Alice's words:
"As expected of a great noble family, the carriage's shock absorption is comparable to levitation."
The very next day, Alice climbed into Lind's carriage under the pretense of teaching him, clearly indicating that she was not good at riding and could not stand the jolting of a horse.
Lind didn't argue with her, and since she was there, he focused on learning magic.
Soon, Lind's magical talent was revealed, and he quickly mastered these tricks, which greatly surprised Alice.
It wasn't that Linde was a magical genius, but rather that her headmistress mother was to blame.
I originally thought my mother had sent me to work under an earl to teach a magic idiot, not to mention that the earl's family was a famous family of knights, and I was eventually used as a marriage partner to win over the nobility.
However, after spending these few days together, Alice found it very strange. She had heard that the Earl of Truk's family was a famous family of knights and looked down on mages, but after arriving, she found that the old count treated her very well. The way he looked at her was not like he was looking at a person, but more like he was looking at a treasure.
The second son, who was rumored in noble circles to have inherited the old count's bravery, actually had a great interest and talent in magic, but he was never seen practicing knightly training.
Just as Alice was traveling, the sound of "Teacher" brought her back to reality.
“Teacher Alice? Teacher Alice? Are you sleepy?” Lind asked.
The girl snapped out of her daze and realized her rudeness, quickly saying...
"No...nothing like that. What do you want to ask?"
"Hmm... I've learned all these tricks, as for advancing to the next level as a mage..."
"Oh, easy... um?"
The girl was taken aback, then quickly grabbed Linde and said excitedly:
"So fast?"
Linde smiled wryly. In fact, Linde had already learned it all a few days ago. Could it be due to the activation aura? Anyway, Linde felt incredibly smooth every time he used his mental power.
I delayed telling her for two days because I was afraid of scaring her.
"It's alright, these magic tricks are actually quite easy."
"Although I'm reluctant to admit it, your speed really surprised me."
The girl calmed herself down, released Linde's hands, and continued speaking.
"Actually, becoming a mage is quite simple. Once you've learned these tricks, it means your mental strength is sufficient to construct basic spells."
"You only need to meditate and imprint your first spell in your mind. The imprinted spell does not need to be chanted; it can be used directly with a thought."
As she spoke, Alice pulled out an even thicker book from her sleeve.
"This book contains almost all the basic spells. You can choose one to learn and then memorize it. Of course, if you are smart enough, you can also create your own basic spell."
"Don't forget, it must be a beginner-level spell. With your current mental strength, you can't withstand a high-level spell."
Upon hearing this, Lin De carefully put the book away.
"Okay. Thank you, Ms. Alice."
"Stop! Stop!" the girl shouted.
"You're practically a mage now, so don't call me 'teacher' anymore. Just call me by my name... Alice."
“Okay... Alice.”
The girl seemed much more relaxed, and her tone became light and cheerful.
"Okay, it's getting late, I'm leaving."
The girl left the carriage like the wind, leaving behind only a faint fragrance.
"It's almost dinner time." By this time, Lin De was also a little hungry, after all, meditation and mental exercises are quite energy-consuming.
As the carriages slowly came to a stop, just like before, the migration caravan had stopped and started cooking, while their caravan trailed behind the main migration group.
Firstly, there was a fear that serfs might escape, and secondly, it was easy for some "tails" to get behind such large migrating caravans.
Sometimes it was a pack of wolves, sometimes some small monsters. But once they saw that the rear of the procession was a fully armed noble army, they would usually leave in a huff after only a few miles.
At Lind's command, the soldiers began setting up tents, making fires, cooking, and maintaining order in the serf camp.
Soon Linde arrived at the newly set-up tent, where simple tables and chairs had been arranged, and various kinds of food were quickly served.
Honey-coated buttered bread, a glass of room-temperature ale, a thick soup made with dried venison, and a wild rabbit that Astaire had hunted that day. The rabbit was roasted to a very tempting degree and sprinkled with some unknown exotic spices.
"Aster, come, sit down and eat with us."
Linde greeted the young, loyal knight, who was always busy helping Linde and had saved him a lot of trouble.
Astaire said somewhat awkwardly, "I haven't bathed for several days and I smell a bit, so I'll leave it at that."
After saying that, Lind pondered for a moment, then raised his hand and cast a Cleanse spell on Astaire.
This cleaning technique is truly a wonderful thing. Just a few days ago, Linde was wondering how a clean-loving noblewoman like Alice managed to stay clean on such a long journey.
Then he saw Alice cast a Cleanse spell on him, which was much faster than taking a bath. Lind immediately decided that the first spell he would learn would be the Cleanse spell.
A flash of blue light, and before Astaire could even process it, Lind had already pressed him down onto the stool.
"It's alright now, go ahead and eat."
Linde looked at Astaire, who was completely shocked, and laughed.
"My lord, you have already learned magic? The Earl will be overjoyed to know."
You know, Linde had never used magic in their family before. I didn't expect the young master to have such outstanding talent in magic. He truly lives up to his name!
Linde waved.
"Oh, it's nothing."
He then picked up a rabbit leg and began to eat it with gusto.
Seeing this, Astaire no longer held back and began to wolf down his food. After all, although the soldiers usually ate much better than the serfs, it was still just meat porridge, dried meat, and hard bread, which was far inferior to the food eaten by nobles like Lind.
Perhaps because they had come into contact with supernatural powers, their appetites were exceptionally large, and they quickly devoured a whole table of food.
After a hearty meal and drinks, Astaire, needing to make his night patrol, decided not to linger and took his leave.
Linde finally found a quiet time when there were few people around and began to study the new halo he had obtained a couple of days earlier.
"Let me see what the strength of the new halo is."
