Chapter 51 Businessman

"Hmm~ It feels so good to take a shower. I don't feel anything at all with just the cleaning spell."

Linde stretched and stretched before heading back towards the mansion he had come from.

Humming a tune that the otherworldly beings couldn't understand, he swayed as he walked.

Seeing that some of the soldiers around him had already started building houses, and that they were all working with great enthusiasm, Linde felt extremely gratified.

"It's really nice to see such a thriving scene."

Linde stood aside and watched for a while before leaving.

…………

"What? You're saying the lord just came by?"

In front of a building under construction, Eric was directing his soldiers to pile up stones.

"Yes...yes, Lord Eric, the lord just stood there and watched for a while...without saying anything."

Eric frowned, trying to figure out the lord's intentions.

Eric thought for a long time but couldn't come up with a solution, so he had no choice but to give instructions to the bewildered soldiers:

"Just pretend nothing happened. The lord was probably just passing by. As long as you didn't slack off or anything, there won't be any problem."

"Sir, don't worry, we definitely didn't slack off..."

After meeting Eric's sharp gaze, the leading soldier tugged at the two soldiers beside him and quickly said:

"Sir, we'll go back to work now."

After saying that, the leading soldier grabbed the two people next to him and walked back.

Eric's voice came from behind:

"If you slack off and the lord catches you, I won't be able to put in a good word for you, do you hear me?"

The soldiers in front of Eric, who were building a house, shouted in a strong voice:

"yes!"

Meanwhile, Linde, who was observing everyone working from around the corner, nodded in satisfaction.

"Not bad, everyone is very motivated. It seems that the territory construction is going more smoothly than I expected."

The only reasons Linde showed up around were because he was bored and had nothing better to do, and also to urge and supervise others.

Just like a homeroom teacher at the back gate of a high school, they can greatly motivate soldiers to work hard.

Being a homeroom teacher for the first time feels quite novel.

Just then, the sound of hooves rang out, and a Bronze Warrior from the Royal Guard rode up to Lind.

The soldier said hurriedly:

"My lord, a group of merchants has arrived in our territory. Their leader wants to see you, and he has already been brought to the military camp."

Upon hearing this, Linde revealed a playful expression and said:

"Okay, I understand. Tell them to wait a moment, I'll be there in a bit."

"yes!"

After the soldiers left, Lind began to have some doubts.

This merchant arrived really quickly. Is he here to buy and sell slaves? I did hear rumors about it when I was in Fortified City.

Because it had only been a little over a year since the Kree Empire, where Linde was, finished fighting the Sass Empire, there were far too many exiled slaves caused by the war.

The entire slave market at this time could be described as "full of talent".

Linde guessed that some astute merchant had sensed the demand for people in Linde and came here to sell slaves.

His newly established territory really needed slaves to work for him, such as the Blackrock Mine.

Linde weighed the number of gold coins he had left. He sensed them in the mage's sleeve and found that he had about 600 gold coins left.

Of the 1,100 gold coins I brought with me when I left the earldom, I've already spent almost half of them.

"We still need to be more frugal. Although selling slaves won't cost too much money, they're not expensive things like enchanting materials."

In this world, human life is worthless, and the slave market is never short of people or buyers.

With that thought in mind, Lin De headed toward the military camp.

As soon as they arrived at the entrance of the military camp, they saw Astaire already standing there waiting.

Seeing Lind return, Astaire quickly stepped forward and said:

"Sir, a rather large caravan has arrived, they..."

"Are they here to buy and sell slaves?"

"...Yes, sir. Their caravan has many slaves, nearly a thousand in total. I've had them set up camp on an open space behind the castle, and soldiers have been assigned to guard it."

Upon hearing this, Linde patted Astaire on the shoulder and said:

“Well done, Astaire, come with me.”

After Linde finished speaking, he walked toward the tent, with Aster following closely behind him.

Upon entering the tent, one is greeted by a simply dressed, fat man and two fierce-looking guards.

This surprised Lin De somewhat. Most merchants in this other world had one thing in common: they dressed extravagantly. The more extravagant their clothes, the richer they were, in order to show off their status.

This was the first time Linde had ever seen a businessman dressed so simply.

The fat merchant, surrounded by two guards, recognized Linde as the lord of the area at a glance, since he recognized the noble robes Linde was wearing.

"Greetings, Your Majesty. My name is Eugene, and I am a merchant who specializes in the slave trade. I am here uninvited, and I hope Your Majesty will forgive me."

As he spoke, the fat merchant performed a fairly standard aristocratic bow.

"Does Your Excellency have any need for buying or selling slaves? The slaves I have here are of excellent quality and are cheaper than those on the market."

Upon hearing this, Linde said:

"I do have this need, but I need to check the quality of your goods first."

Linde looked calmly at the fat businessman.

"My lord, rest assured, I can guarantee the quality with my bare hands. It is absolutely the best in the Gur Mountains, and there is a wide variety of products, all fresh goods brought back from the battlefields of the Sass Empire."

The fat merchant nodded hurriedly and led Lind and the others to the open space behind the castle. There, the slaves were divided into several areas, each standing in its own group.

Linde approached and discovered that the slaves were categorized into different types: young male slaves, female slaves, young slaves, old slaves, and even quite a few slaves of other races.

The portly businessman slowly and deliberately introduced everything to Linde:

"These are young male and female slaves, all of whom have been inspected and are all young and strong; these are older slaves who haven't been sold yet, so we're selling them cheaply, as they can still work for a few more years."

Eugene walked to a less crowded area and said:

"These are slaves of different races, all of them rare. Look at them, their fur is glossy and their appearance is outstanding. Buying one to take back to your mansion for your collection would be excellent."

"There are also quite a few skilled slaves with special abilities."

Linde looked and, just as Eugene had said, there were many rare creatures: elves, orcs, and dwarves, and even some races Linde had never seen before: lizardmen and kobolds.

"There is indeed a wide variety, and they all look quite good." Although most of the slaves looked somewhat haggard and listless, at least they were not emaciated or of inferior quality.

Hearing Lind's assessment, Eugene rubbed his hands together with a smile and said:

"Thank you for your kind words, sir. May I ask if there is anything you have your eye on?"
