Chapter 158 Uncle Wu is gone
The female soldier hesitated to speak, and finally spoke hesitantly: "Bai Niannian has been locked up, but her current condition does not look good."
"Comrade, don't worry. We will make her pay the price she deserves."
Xu Zhixia curled up the corner of his mouth in a sneer, and a dark light flashed in his eyes. This matter will not be let go like this.
After bringing An An back home, Xu's father, Xu's mother and Zhou's mother all breathed a sigh of relief.
If An An was really lost, they wouldn’t know what to do.
Everyone was immersed in the joy of finding An An, and did not notice that the person who should have been at home was not there.
Before An An was found, no one had an appetite and no one ate.
Now that her worries were gone, Xu's mother took the initiative to suggest, "I'll go cook some noodles and we can have a simple meal."
Xu Zhixia naturally had no objection. Just as he was about to head towards the small kitchen, he paused and suddenly asked, "By the way, where is Uncle Wu?"
Everyone was stunned because they just realized the problem.
Uncle Wu should have been the happiest person when An An was found, but Uncle Wu did not show up here.
The smile on Zhou's mother's face suddenly froze, and a bad premonition came over her.
Father Xu thought for a moment and said hesitantly, "It seems that I haven't seen him since Xia Xia left this morning."
"Are you going out to look for An An together?"
Although he said this, he knew in his heart that this was almost impossible.
Xu Zhixia felt a little uneasy, so she simply got up and went to Uncle Wu's room. After knocking on the door a few times, there was no sound from inside.
She hesitated for a moment, then opened the door. The room was clean and empty, with only a letter on the bedside table.
She walked over and picked it up. After opening it, a familiar line of words appeared in her eyes.
"Xia Xia, when you see this letter, I will have left the island."
"I was completely relieved after I learned that An An was safe."
"If it weren't for me, An An wouldn't have gotten lost. I wouldn't have the face to stay in this house anymore."
…
The more she read, the more serious Xu Zhixia's expression became. She hadn't expected that An An's abduction would have such a serious impact on Uncle Wu.
Without caring about anything else, she hurried downstairs and found Zhou's mother.
She briefly explained the contents of the letter Uncle Wu had left behind, and then asked worriedly, "Mom, where do you think Uncle Wu could go?"
Mother Zhou was silent for a moment, then sighed helplessly. A complicated look flashed across her eyes, and she said, "I think I know. You don't have to worry about this matter. I'll tell your father."
Xu Zhixia was skeptical, but she didn't ask any further. She nodded hesitantly and turned to go to the small kitchen.
Because of Uncle Wu's incident, no one enjoyed the meal.
After dinner, Xu Zhixia went straight back to the bedroom. Looking at Pingping and An'an lying on the bed, she breathed a sigh of relief.
Lying in bed, holding my two children in my arms, I felt extremely safe.
Xu Zhixia didn't ask Zhou's mother what had become of Uncle Wu. She felt a little embarrassed because she thought Uncle Wu had died because of her.
Perhaps because of this incident, the family atmosphere became unusually silent. When Zhou An came back, he noticed something was wrong.
After a quick shower, he returned downstairs. While drying his hair, he jokingly asked, "Where's Uncle Wu? Why don't I see him? Did he go out to make me something delicious?"
The expressions of Xu's father and mother became even stranger. Zhou An felt something was wrong, frowned, and looked at Xu Zhixia.
Xu Zhixia pursed her lips, then finally spoke with determination: "Uncle Wu... has left."
Zhou An's pupils suddenly contracted, revealing a look of disbelief.
Uncle Wu had been in their family for decades, so why would he leave so suddenly? And right when Xu Zhixia had just given birth?
He wanted to ask directly, but saw Xu Zhixia's expression suddenly become hesitant.
An atmosphere of silence spread in the air and no one spoke for a while.
After an unknown amount of time, Xu Zhixia finally made up her mind and said, "Actually, during the time you were on your mission, An An was taken away by someone else."
Because the matter had already been resolved, everyone initially decided to keep it a secret.
But since Zhou An asked Uncle Wu, he had to mention this matter.
Zhou An's breathing stagnated, and he almost thought he had misheard. Anger welled up in his eyes, and the anger in his tone could not be controlled and overflowed.
"Why didn't you tell me such a big thing?"
Xu Zhixia turned her head away, avoiding his gaze.
After a pause, he continued, "Actually, you know that person. It's Bai Niannian. She holds a grudge against us because of Captain Feng's downfall."
"Plus, the child she gave birth to was weak and sickly, so she wanted us to adopt him."
Zhou An laughed in anger: "She wants us to adopt his child? What is she thinking? She has such a big face."
Xu Zhixia nodded in agreement, but still patiently explained, "Because we adopted Haohao before, she might think I'm a soft-hearted person."
"If she takes our child away and we lose An An, we will definitely treat her child the same as An An."
Zhou An was speechless for a moment, not knowing whether Bai Niannian was too optimistic or this person was just stupid to a certain extent.
But now the child is safe at home, so the problem has been resolved and the topic was not continued.
After thinking for a moment, he changed the subject: "How is Bai Niannian now?"
"The army said they would handle it, but I didn't ask about what happened next."
Xu Zhixia answered honestly.
She actually cared about the outcome of Bai Niannian's case, but then she thought that she couldn't interfere, so it was better to ignore it. Anyway, the higher-ups would definitely give her an explanation.
Zhou An frowned, but said nothing. He said, "Then I'll go ask later."
"But what does this have to do with Uncle Wu?"
Xu Zhixia considered her words and spoke slowly, "Uncle Wu happened to be at home when Bai Niannian came to steal An An, but Uncle Wu didn't notice, so I've always felt guilty."
"After learning that An An had been found, he left without even saying goodbye."
"I asked my mom, and she said she would handle it, so I didn't ask any further."
After a pause, he hesitated and said, "Uncle Wu left because of me. Are you a little unhappy?"
When she said this, she was cautious and looked up at Zhou An's expression.
Although Zhou An never said it, Xu Zhixia knew that Uncle Wu was different to him.
