Chapter 40 The Ending of the Wu Sisters

Chapter 40 The End of the Wu Sisters

Zhou An raised his eyes to look at Xu Zhixia, but before he could speak, Xu Zhixia continued, "Forget it, just pretend nothing happened."

She pursed her lips, and an unnatural look flashed in her eyes.

Zhou An paused and asked word by word, "What if I don't want to pretend nothing happened?"

Xu Zhixia looked up and was stunned for a moment when she met his eyes.

What made her even more panicked was that deep down she actually felt that... that wasn't bad either.

But she asked herself, is she really ready to become a real couple with Zhou An?

She doesn't know.

Seeing that Xu Zhixia didn't answer, a hint of disappointment flashed in Zhou An's eyes.

He lowered his voice: "I don't necessarily want you to give me an answer right now, but at least give me a chance to pursue you, okay?"

His eyes were deep and one could not see the bottom of them.

But no one can doubt the truth of these words.

Looking into Zhou An's eyes, Xu Zhixia nodded as if possessed by a ghost.

Because Xu Zhixia was still feeling sore, Zhou An simply asked her to go to school and ask for leave.

She lay down for the whole morning before she felt better.

At noon, Jiang Hanzhi had to go out on a mission and sent Haohao back.

After entering the house, Haohao looked at her with a worried expression.

"Xia Xia, Chong Chong."

A hint of doubt flashed in Xu Zhixia's eyes, and she didn't react for a moment.

I lowered my head following Haohao's gaze and saw the red mark on my collarbone, then I realized what he was pointing at.

A flush of heat washed over her face, and she replied vaguely, "It's bugs. I've applied medicine, and it will be fine in a few days."

It’s all Zhou An’s fault. She’s so careless. How can she go out these days?

At this time, Zhou An didn't know that Xu Zhixia was cursing him in her heart.

He maintained a good mood throughout the whole day, with the corners of his mouth unconsciously raised.

This made the soldiers under his command nervous and they couldn't help but wonder.

Captain Zhou was unusually gentle, he must be harboring some evil intentions.

After a whole day of training, Zhou An couldn't wait to go home and hug Xu Zhixia.

But there was still one thing he hadn't done, so he turned and walked towards the political commissar's office.

Although it was because of the Wu Xiuxiu sisters yesterday that his relationship with Xu Zhixia made progress.

But this does not mean that he can tolerate the fact that he was drugged.

A hint of coldness flashed in his eyes. No matter who it was, he would have to pay the price for his actions.

I knocked on the door in front of me and heard a voice from inside saying, "Come in."

Zhou An walked in and gave a standard military salute: "Report."

Political Commissar Sun's eyes flashed with surprise, and he asked, "How come you have time to come to see me today?"

"Your aunt said last time that she wanted you and your wife to come to her house for dinner."

Zhou An said with a serious face, "I want to report that someone tried to attack soldiers."

Hearing this, Political Commissar Sun immediately stopped smiling and became serious.

"What's going on? Explain it to me."

...

Because it has been getting hotter recently, Xu Zhixia plans to make cold noodles at home in the evening.

That thing takes no effort to make and tastes appetizing.

Just as she finished preparing the sauce, she heard wailing from next door.

She paused, put down what she was holding and went out to watch the fun.

Several soldiers in military uniforms took Wu Xiuxiu and her sister out of the house.

"Excuse me, what's going on?"

She walked towards the young soldier standing guard and asked softly.

The little soldier met her gentle eyes and his face immediately turned red.

He stammered, "These... these two comrades are suspected of harming soldiers and need to be taken back for investigation."

A hint of understanding flashed in Xu Zhixia's eyes. She knew without asking that this must be Zhou An's work.

She was surprised and satisfied at the same time. This solution was the most appropriate one she could think of.

When Zhou An came back in the evening, he received a big smile from Xu Zhixia.

"I made cold noodles tonight. Try it and see if it suits your taste."

Xu Zhixia considerately handed Zhou An a large bowl filled with mixed noodles.

Zhou An was flattered. He washed his hands and took a big bite without hesitation.

A hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, mainly because the taste was... too amazing.

Xu Zhixia didn't use any complicated seasonings, but she got the proportions right.

It is sweet and sour, and the rich sesame sauce makes your mouth water.

The smooth and chewy noodles, paired with refreshing cucumber shreds, give people a cool feeling from the bones.

"Comfortable." He exclaimed sincerely.

Zhou An ate very quickly and finished in just a few bites.

Then he remembered the important matter and said directly, "I asked my comrades to keep an eye out for the bicycle you mentioned last time. It will be delivered in two days."

Xu Zhixia was stunned. This was a pleasant surprise.

When facing a capable man, you must give him some rewards to stimulate his enthusiasm.

She thought for a moment and said, "It's getting hotter recently. Your room isn't well ventilated. Do you want to move in?"

As soon as the words fell, the air froze.

Xu Zhixia looked up in confusion, staring at Zhou An with a fierce look.

"Can I take this as an invitation?" His voice rasped, his eyes filled with lust.

Xu Zhixia felt uncomfortable. If Haohao hadn't been here, she would have been afraid that Zhou An would have pounced on her.

Thinking of what happened that night, she had the urge to run away right now.

He took a deep breath and calmed himself down.

She glared at Zhou An in embarrassment and said, "What are you thinking about? It's just that your room is too hot."

After a pause, he added, "When the time comes, get a small bed for you and Haohao to sleep on."

Zhou An was a little disappointed, but he quickly cheered up.

Moving in is just the first step, the next goal is to sleep in bed.

Unfortunately, with Haohao around, many things become inconvenient.

Thinking of this, he felt the urge to leave Haohao to Jiang Hanzhi for the first time.

By the time Zhou An bought the bicycle back, the verdicts for Wu Xiuxiu and Wu Lili had also come down.

They were suspected of injuring soldiers and were fined, re-educated, and forced to leave the island.

Because of Zhang Hong, Wu Xiuxiu stayed behind to observe for the time being.

When the verdict came out, the person who was most dumbfounded was Wu Lili.

She was hoping to find a soldier to marry on the island, but she didn't want to be sent back to the brigade.

But no matter how much she begged, the higher-ups didn't change their minds.

She could only pack up her things and go home.

When Xu Zhixia learned about this, she was not surprised.

But she was still a little confused. Logically, Zhang Hong's case was exposed first, so why hasn't the verdict come out yet?

This thought flashed through her mind, but fortunately she didn't intend to delve into it further, as it had nothing to do with her anyway.

After all, there is something more important right now, the Mid-Autumn Festival is coming soon.

Zhou An had promised her before that he would take a vacation during the Mid-Autumn Festival and take her home.
