Chapter 156: Let Me Go
Chapter 156: Let Me Go
Wen Jin never imagined that one day she would be so calm and composed as to prove to Fu Yanjing that he had never truly looked at her.
"I wish you had never liked me at all, so I could deceive myself that your cold-heartedness and ability to control yourself are because, as someone in a position of power, you are supposed to maintain your inherent dignity when dealing with ordinary people. Instead, I'm reminded again and again of how much you once felt for me, and how despicable that made you!"
"So, Fu Yanjing, please let me go."
Her gentle request almost suffocated Fu Yanjing.
With his arm hanging down to one side, veins bulging, Fu Yanjing tried his best to restrain himself, saying, "I can't do it."
Wen Jin's tense emotions shattered because of Fu Yanjing's words.
"What else do you want? I've already moved on from Fu Yanjing. You're used to being in control and being revered. Do you think everyone will just wait for you?"
The cell phone on the ground rang again.
Fu Yanjing's deep gaze was unfathomable, making it impossible to discern his emotions.
Is it because of him?
The urgent ringtone of a cell phone, displaying the three large characters "Meng Qinghe" on the screen, was like a red cloth in a bullring.
Fu Yanjing was about to go crazy when he saw it.
Wen Jin bent down to pick it up, but just as her fingertips were about to touch it, Fu Yanjing grabbed her waist with his long arm and pulled her away.
Fu Yanjing casually picked up the ringing phone and then extinguished it in his palm.
He pinned Wen Jinye to the soft sofa, kneeling on either side of her, leaning down to stare at her with a cold, obsessive voice, "Tell me it's because of him?"
Wen Jin struggled fiercely, and just as he finished speaking, his phone rang again.
"He's really noisy."
Wen Jin also sensed the dangerous aura emanating from him.
Tonight, Fu Yanjing is like a wild wolf, all pretense of aloofness and indifference, despite having shared a bed with him for three years.
It turns out I never really saw him for who he was.
Capitalists are always willing to use any means to achieve their goals.
"Fu Yanjing!"
She was afraid that Fu Yanjing might do something to Meng Qinghe, and Wen Jin didn't want anyone to get involved in the whirlpool of her life.
Full of defensiveness, and with a very heavy tone.
But Fu Yanjing suddenly laughed, "Bob, I'm here, you don't need to be so excited."
He leaned down, and under the bright beam of light, the possessiveness in the man's eyes was laid bare.
But his tone was persuasive, asking, "What do you want me to say?"
"Our affairs have nothing to do with Meng Qinghe, um—"
His lips pressed down without warning, swallowing up all of Wen Jinye's subsequent words.
Until the taste of blood spread in the mouth.
Fu Yanjing's lower lip was crimson from the blood that seeped out, but he was not angry.
My steady breathing made it seem like everything had returned to normal.
The phone, which had fallen into the sofa cushions, remained on the screen indicating that the call had ended.
The call lasted a full two minutes.
Fu Yanjing's lips landed on Wen Jinye's collarbone, leaving a faint bloodstain.
"You've really gone for it, Wen Jinye. Are you that eager to get your hands on me?"
Thankfully, she didn't have canine teeth, otherwise Wen Jinye's teeth would have pierced through Fu Yanjing's lower lip.
"Pervert."
Wen Jin struggled until she lost all her strength. She lay there quietly, refusing to look at Fu Yanjing.
"Let me go."
A low, ambiguous sigh came from Fu Yanjing's ear, "I'm sorry, I can't just watch you walk towards him."
Fu Yanjing released all restraints on Wen Jinye, and his voice returned to its usual calm, "I won't let you go."
Wen Jinye's phone finally went silent.
Fu Yanjing's phone started ringing again.
He glanced at it, and his eyes suddenly darkened when he saw who was calling.
"I need to go back to the Fu family manor to handle some matters."
Wen Jin also showed no interest in his schedule, simply curling up on the sofa and turning her head away from him.
No one had ever been so cold and heartless to him.
Fu Yanjing had no experience in calming a hot airbag, so he could only soften his voice and adopt a reasonable approach for the first time, "Xishan Mansion has been uninhabited for a long time. Why don't you stay here for a few days and wait until you calm down, then we can renovate Xishan Mansion together, okay? I'll change the color of the curtains to your favorite dreamy pink."
Wen Jin's eyes widened in shock. "You're going to imprison me?"
"No." Fu Yanjing placed the phone, which was hidden in the sofa cushions, next to Wen Jinye. "I'll give you the phone, I'll give you everything. You can go shopping, drive around, do whatever you want. I just know for sure that you can't leave Hong Kong."
There must be something urgent at the Fu family manor, because he kept adjusting his clothes.
But he calmly issued an ultimatum, "and break up with Meng Qinghe, otherwise I'm not sure what I'll do to him."
Wen Jin was now only wary of him. "What are you going to do? Murder and arson?"
She sneered, "Don't drag others into our affairs. If you dare to do that... I..."
The pause here wasn't due to fear, but rather because, after clearly recognizing the difference in their social status, Wen Jin sadly realized that she had nothing to threaten Fu Yanjing with.
This inexplicably reminded Fu Yanjing of the time when the power went out at Xishan Mansion due to a typhoon.
He sensed Wen Jinye's tension and teased her deliberately, "What if the power goes out? I'm so scared."
His acting was perfunctory back then, but Wen Jin still believed him without a doubt, "You're actually afraid of the dark?"
After asking the question in shock, Fu Yanjing could imagine Wen Jin biting her lip in frustration during the few seconds of silence.
"I didn't mean to laugh at you, and I won't tell anyone, so don't worry."
Even though she was terrified, she pretended to be strong. She touched Fu Yanjing's body in the dark and patted him soothingly.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here with you."
The reaction then was exactly the same as now.
It would have been even more touching if the person she wanted to protect wasn't Meng Qinghe.
Fu Yanjing's heart softened immediately; he remembered such an ordinary life so clearly.
I miss it so much.
"what will you do?"
In contrast to her tense nerves, Fu Yanjing was relaxed and seemed to be looking forward to hearing from Wen Jinye about some method of torturing him.
"Don't go looking for him."
Fu Yanjing gently patted the top of her head. "Sleep well. I might not be able to come back tonight. Someone will bring you dinner later."
He gave an irrelevant answer.
But he was also afraid that Wen Jin would overthink things and become restless, thus labeling himself as a wicked bandit.
"He is safe."
But Fu Yanjing will definitely go to find Meng Qinghe.
He certainly had many ways to make Meng Qinghe disappear from Wen Jinye's side, or even disappear from this world.
But that's not Fu Yanjing's style.
He possesses the arrogance of someone in a high position, but he would never regard ordinary people as ants.
not to mention--
That would make Wen Jin hate him to death too.
As Fu Yanjing was leaving the room, he glanced at Wen Jinye one last time.
She remained curled up on the sofa with her hands around her knees, a sign of extreme insecurity.
She was right in front of him, only a few steps away.
But he felt a sense of unease, as if he couldn't reach Wen Jinye.
Fu Yanjing's Adam's apple bobbed, a bitter feeling spreading through him.
"Wen Jinye, please love me one more time."

See you tomorrow!
