Chapter 42

Chapter 42

A sad account?

Shen Yizhi seemed to understand, but not quite, and asked cautiously: "What new method is this to trick me?"

Pei Yanhe: "..."

He loosened the chain around his fingers, put it back in his pocket, and lowered his eyes to look at her. "I carried you all the way from the banquet hall back to Mingjing Bay. Even if I didn't have any credit, I still worked hard. Shouldn't I ask you to settle the score?"

Shen Yizhi was speechless for a moment. She shouldn't have drunk that wine, otherwise Pei Xiaoren wouldn't have had the opportunity to take advantage of her.

She replied unconvincedly: "I was drunk, my mind was not clear and I don't remember anything, so it's none of my business."

Pei Yanhe had an expression that showed he had known she would do this, and he said leisurely, "It just so happens that I can't remember who was the one who asked me to hold him last night. I'll have to have someone check the surveillance footage and recollect it."

“…” Shen Yizhi gritted his teeth, “What do you want?”

I never expected to come here to settle the score, but he ended up blaming me instead.

If she brought up the issue of "sending goodnight messages for a month" again, Shen Yizhi would really turn her face away.

Pei Yanhe stood up straight and walked out, saying something to her calmly.

"Go back to Mingjing Bay and watch the meteor shower with me."

-

There is a specially built observatory on the top floor of Pei Yanhe's villa, which houses a complex and professional astronomical telescope. When the automatically rotating roof opens, you can see the inky black night.

I just didn't expect that what Pei Yanhe wanted was so simple.

Shen Yizhi glanced at the image in the astronomical telescope and asked, "Is there really a meteor shower today?"

Pei Yanhe stood beside her, looking up at the dark sky. Not to mention meteors, even the stars were hidden in the clouds and disappeared without a trace.

He said casually, "Maybe."

Shen Yizhi took the time to glance at him, "Is there no more accurate information?"

Pei Yanhe retracted his gaze and looked at her, "Shall I ask God for you?"

“…”

Shen Yizhi nodded calmly, “Sure.”

Pei Yanhe chuckled lightly.

Seeing that he didn't say anything else, Shen Yizhi moved her gaze from his face to the night sky, staring at the boundless, strange yet romantic darkness, and asked.

"How long did we wait for the Sagittarius meteor shower in high school?"

This was actually not the first time she had waited for a meteor shower with Pei Yanhe.

The last time was in high school.

During that time, Shen Yizhi was very obsessed with starry sky paintings. She would run to his observatory from time to time and sit there for hours. Occasionally, Pei Yanhe would be asked by her to act as a tour guide and trace the stories of each star, but most of the time she was the only one in the observatory.

After all, at that time, in addition to his normal studies, Pei Yanhe also had to participate in various international competitions to add color to his heir's resume.

By chance, one day there was a rumor about the rare Sagittarius meteor shower, and Shen Yizhi and Pei Yanhe both appeared at the observatory and sat there for a long time.

Chen Yizhi forgot how long he waited, but he only remembered that night when the stars were as bright as fire.

"Six hours, until four in the morning." Pei Yanhe said in a calm and slow tone.

It was described as if it happened yesterday.

Listening to the cicadas chirping loudly and noisily at night, Shen Yizhi asked, "Why do you remember it so clearly?"

Pei Yanhe said casually, "I have a good memory, there's nothing I can do about it."

“…”

It was like a disguised way of saying that she had a bad memory.

Shen Yizhi glanced at him, too lazy to argue with him, "Then what is the name of tonight's meteor shower?"

The cicadas suddenly fell silent. After a while, Pei Yanhe spoke: "Aries."

Without even thinking, Shen Yizhi said, "Your zodiac sign."

"Then remember to make a wish when the time comes. Wishing on your natal shooting star is the most effective." She sounded a little excited.

Pei Yanhe stared at her bright face and asked slowly, "Did the wish you made that year come true?"

Shen Yizhi is a Sagittarius, and that meteor shower that year was her natal meteor shower.

"Of course." She spoke earnestly, as if giving advice to a younger generation, "First, you must be pious. Then, with a sincere and reverent heart, express your wish honestly. Then it will surely come true!"

Pei Yanhe smiled and replied, "Okay."

The two waited for a while. The night grew darker and the cicadas stopped chirping completely. When they looked at the time, it was already two o'clock in the morning.

Shen Yizhi sat on the lounge chair in the observatory and yawned. She felt sleepy and her eyelids felt like they weighed a thousand pounds. She tried hard to keep them open.

Pei Yanhe noticed it, looked over, and raised his eyebrows, "Can't hold on anymore?"

When Shen Yizhi heard his energetic tone, she suddenly sobered up, "No, I just feel a little bored."

She thought for a moment and said, "Tell me some stories."

It's been a long time since I heard him tell stories about the stars.

"I've finished." Pei Yanhe supported his hands behind his back, tilted his head, and looked at her with eyes as dark as lacquer.

Shen Yizhi didn't believe it, "There are so many stars in the universe, and you've finished talking about them? Are you lying to me?"

It seems that it is not so easy to deceive.

Pei Yanhe looked away, as if speaking to the silent night, and said, "Everyone has secrets, let alone the stars."

What this means is that only the stars know the secrets of the stars, just as only each person knows his or her own secrets.

Even if he had the ability to see through everything, he would have no way of knowing.

Shen Yizhi really listened to it and lost his curiosity to listen to the story anymore.

Suddenly, his cheek was illuminated by a flash of brightness, and a silver light quietly streaked across the night sky, disappearing in a flash.

"It's a meteor!" Shen Yizhi looked up at the sky without blinking, his eyes filled with amazement, and the corners of his lips rose unconsciously.

I waited for several hours, from the initial anticipation to the later tiredness, as if it was all for this moment, a moment of beauty.

Pei Yanhe's sharp face was illuminated, and the strands of hair hanging in front of his eyebrows cast fine shadows. He stared at the meteor with a somewhat nonchalant look.

Then one bright light after another flashed by, converging into a dazzling light, flashing brightly.

Shen Yizhi then remembered something, crossed his fingers and clasped them in front of his chest. Before closing his eyes, he reminded someone, "Make a wish!"

She lowered her head and closed her eyes, looking serious and focused. Her seaweed-like black hair was tied into a low bun, revealing her slender neck that was slightly curved into a beautiful arc. Her skin looked almost cold white in the flickering light.

Pei Yanhe did not close his eyes or make a wish. He just kept his eyes on her quietly and openly.

The night in the early morning is especially quiet, as if the world has stopped, with only the silver lines crossing the black screen moving.

A long time passed, yet it seemed like only a moment.

Pei Yanhe's eyelashes trembled involuntarily, as if pierced by the light of a passing star, and he lowered his eyes.

When he raised his eyes again, he met Chen Yizhi's fixed gaze without any warning.

The first thing Shen Yizhi did when she opened her eyes was to look sideways at Pei Yanhe. Seeing that he looked like he had just opened his eyes, she couldn't help but ask.

"What did you wish for?"

Pei Yanhe was silent for a moment, then raised his lips and said lazily, "A wish won't work if you speak it out loud."

Shen Yizhi said: "As long as the meteor is still there, it will work if you tell it."

In fact, what she said was just nonsense. She just wanted to get Pei Yanhe's wish.

An extremely obvious trick.

Pei Yanhe recognized her at a glance. He curled his lips silently, and his deep eyes looked at her calmly but without missing a beat.

Shen Yizhi urged, "Hurry up and tell me, otherwise it won't work when the meteor passes."

After a while, Pei Yanhe's clear and magnetic voice came from the darkness.

She heard him say.

"I hope you dream of me."
