Chapter 20

Chapter 20

The marketing plan needed major revisions, so Xu Lan didn't keep many people with her.

Li Ruzhang had other matters to attend to, so he said goodbye and left.

The group left the dubbing studio. Cheng Nuo asked Jiang Cheng to wait a moment and then came to Li Zhi.

Her dark eyes were full of expectation, clearly still remembering what she had said at the beginning.

Li Zhi cautiously pulled Cheng Nuo and Yu Miaomiao aside, "Keep your voice down, don't let him hear."

Cheng Nuo then lowered her voice and asked, "You're that content creator on D-site, 'A Lychee,' right?"

"Yes, it's me."

Li Zhi gritted her teeth and admitted it, her face flushing red. She felt extremely ashamed to have her identity recognized by someone in the real world.

Cheng Nuo said excitedly, "When you contacted me via private message last time, I guessed you were from University A."

"When I saw you today, I could tell at a glance that you look very similar with and without makeup."

"I've liked, commented, and subscribed to every single one of your videos. I especially love your Starfall cosplay; it's incredibly accurate and much better than those other cosplayers!"

Li Zhi's eyes slowly brightened, as if she had met a kindred spirit. "I also think his cosplay is not very good. He's just trying to ride the wave and doesn't capture the essence of the character at all."

The two excitedly began a lively discussion about the game.

Yu Miaomiao listened from the side, completely bewildered.

She knew that Li Zhi called herself a fan of anime and manga, and that she would draw, cosplay, and enjoy playing a game called "Starfall Chronicles" in her spare time.

However, I don't know anything about D-site or UP master, but judging from Cheng Nuo's excited appearance, it seems that Li Zhi is quite famous online.

It took quite some time before they finally gave up.

Cheng Nuo glanced cautiously at Jiang Chengyi and asked, "Lizhi, I want to ask, what do you need my brother's application form for?"

Li Zhi smiled slightly, "I admire Jiang Xue Shen (a famous scholar) and would like to admire his achievements."

This reason was indeed perfunctory, but Cheng Nuo suddenly realized, "My brother is indeed very capable, and it's only natural to admire him, but it's also awesome that you came up with this method."

He became quite animated: "Actually, his application form wasn't complete enough; there were many things he didn't write down, let me tell you..."

Li Zhi was completely bewildered and quickly changed the subject, "Don't worry, I've saved everything for you."

"Very good!"

Cheng Nuoxin was overjoyed, "I've been trying to get one for two years and I still couldn't. Thanks to you!"

A car slowly glided up to the group and stopped. The window rolled down, and Jiang Chengyi, with one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the window, said to Cheng Nuo, "It's time to go."

Cheng Nuo got into the passenger seat, but the car didn't start. Jiang Cheng looked at Yu Miaomiao and asked, "Shall we go back together?"

He paused for a moment, then added, "It's a bit far from the city center, so it's hard to get a taxi here."

Yu Miaomiao refused decisively, "No need."

Li Zhi looked at Yu Miaomiao, then at Jiang Chengyi. The former's cold expression was normal, but the latter's aura seemed inexplicably low.

She quickly smoothed things over, saying, "Thank you, but we came by electric scooter, so we have to ride it back."

Jiang Chengyi hummed in agreement, started the car, and Cheng Nuo leaned out of the window, waving and shouting, "Lizhi, don't forget my ticket—"

His voice was carried far by the wind.

Li Zhi breathed a sigh of relief, "Finally, they've been sent away."

Yu Miaomiao stared thoughtfully at the departing car. "He's your 'informant'?"

"Hehe, that's right, Jiang Cheng got his application form from him."

She asked, "What are you going to give him? How much will it cost? I'll pay."

"It's free, it's just a ticket to the D-Station Comic Con, which is very hard to get, even if you have money you can't buy it."

Yu Miaomiao tried to understand something she had never encountered before, "What... what is a comic convention? Is it very prestigious?"

Li Zhi racked her brains to popularize science.

"Anime conventions are gatherings for anime and manga fans. There are cosplayers, merchandise sellers, and all sorts of guests. This particular anime convention is one of the most popular in China, attracting hundreds of thousands of anime and manga fans from all over the country each time."

"Since it's so popular, how did you manage to get your ticket?"

"I don't need to fight for it." Li Zhi proudly puffed out her chest. "I'm one of the top 100 on D-site, and the official site gave me a lot of free votes."

Yu Miaomiao's puzzled look deflated her:

Okay, it's really not fulfilling to talk about this in front of someone who doesn't understand it at all. I'll tell Cheng Nuo next time that although this person talks a lot and seems silly, his emotional value is really on point, and he made her feel good.

She then went on to recount how she developed her downline.

"That Cheng Nuo also posts videos on D-site, but he doesn't have many followers. A while ago, a classmate passed by in the background of one of his fitness videos. Although he only appeared for a few seconds, he was so handsome that the video went viral and made it to the top of the trending list. When I saw it, I realized that it was Jiang Chengyi!"

Li Zhi clapped her hands. "The IP and the campus setting all match up perfectly. This is a golden opportunity. I messaged Cheng Nuo and lured him with comic convention tickets, and he took the bait immediately."

She boasted, "How about it? Didn't I infiltrate the enemy's ranks as their informant?"

"good."

According to her judgment, among all the students on campus, the one with the best relationship with Jiang Chengyi was Cheng Nuo, after all, they had a "life-saving" relationship.

Yu Miaomiao's simple compliment made Li Zhi jump for joy, so proud she couldn't contain herself. It was truly rare to hear such a compliment from this person, and therefore all the more precious.

-

Inside the car, Cheng Nuo excitedly recounted her unexpected "meetup" with someone.

"I really didn't expect to meet Li Zhi. She is my favorite content creator. I can die without regrets."

"Old Jiang, I managed to get two comic convention tickets this year, you can't back out now, you have to come with me!"

"Speaking of which, you deserve some credit too, hahaha!"

Jiang Cheng drove without looking to the side, as if he hadn't heard what the other person said at all. But when he heard this, he suddenly spoke up, "As far as I know, the deadline for buying tickets was last week. At that time, you were crying to me about not being able to get tickets. Two second-hand tickets on Xianyu are worth tens of thousands of yuan. You've already spent all your living expenses for this month and started asking me for money."

The excited Cheng Nuo suddenly fell silent.

"Tell me, how did you get the tickets?"

"It was...it was swapped with someone else."

Cheng Nuo lowered her head, stammering and unwilling to speak, but secretly glanced up and saw Jiang Cheng's calm and indifferent expression.

He shuddered. Experience told him that his brother was extremely two-faced. He seemed not to care at all, but he was definitely taking it to heart. If he was stubborn now, the consequences would be severe.

He immediately slid to his knees: "I used your FA scholarship application form to get it."

Jiang Cheng narrowed his phoenix eyes and glanced sideways at Cheng Nuo, "Is my application form really that valuable?"

Cheng Nuo held her head, still talking nonstop, "You don't understand, do you? Lizhi is your fangirl. She wants to know about your achievements, and she has several tickets. To her, your application form is more valuable than the tickets."

Jiang Chengyi: "If she really wanted to understand my achievements, why didn't she ask you for anything else?"

"Last month, the school was selecting outstanding students and asked them to list all the awards they had received. Did she ask you for a list?"

"Oh, right." Cheng Nuo suddenly realized, "Why do we only need an application form?"

"Only people who also want to apply for the FA scholarship would want to get my application form."

Cheng Nuo was filled with regret, "Didn't I give you another competitor?!"

He scrolled through his phone. "Lizhi seems to be a computer science major. Let me see if anyone else in the computer science major has applied..."

"Don't bother looking anymore. It's been almost a month, and it's too late to fix it now."

Cheng Nuo wailed, "Old Jiang, I'm so sorry!"

Upon hearing this bad news, Jiang Chengyi's expression wasn't particularly grave; instead, a faint smile played at the corners of his lips.

Yu Miaomiao majored in computer science.

No wonder Yu Miaomiao always harbored inexplicable hostility towards him; no wonder he didn't want to shoot the commercial at first, but ended up doing it anyway; no wonder he wanted to donate his salary just like he did.

It turns out that in many of their eye contact, the wariness and hostility in Yu Miaomiao's eyes were actually the way she looked at her competitors.

It turns out that the two had known each other for a long time before their first meeting.

-

The next day, Yu Miaomiao received a message from Xu Lan that the marketing plan had been revised and was basically finalized after an online meeting. The promotional video was expected to be launched in seven days.

Yu Miaomiao helped her public relations assistant open a Weibo account. The assistant told her to choose a playful and memorable nickname. She thought and thought but couldn't come up with one, so she finally used her own name, Yu Miaomiao.

At her assistant's request, she posted her first Weibo post:

Hello everyone, I'm Yu Miaomiao.

The assistant sighed, "Teacher Yu, you're being too serious. You could at least add a 'Nice to meet you all,' or even an emoticon."

But there was no other way; it had already been posted, and re-editing it would seem too deliberate, so this was the only option.

In her schedule, Yu Miaomiao crossed out the promotional video shoot and added two new items below it.

The first item is: Participate in CAE and win the gold medal.

The second requirement is: join a stray animal association and complete at least 50 volunteer hours before the evaluation.

The first task was not difficult for her.

CAE (Code Arena Extreme) is a world-renowned game programming competition. Submissions must be no larger than 15KB. The judging panel selects the three best entries to receive the gold award.

Yu Miaomiao had been filming for a while and didn't have time to write a new game, so she dug out a game she had written when she was bored, optimized and compressed the code, and prepared to submit it as a work.

As for the second option, it was also her choice after careful consideration.

She had no desire to care for elderly people living alone or children, help move things, or sweep up garbage. In comparison, it was much easier to interact with cats and dogs, since Yu Miaomiao, as a monster, had a natural ability to suppress them.

The next day was the weekend, and it was also the day for club recruitment, so the campus was incredibly lively. When Yu Miaomiao arrived at the school gate, Li Zhi was already waiting there.

"Miaomiao, over here!" Li Zhi waved to her.

After learning that Yu Miaomiao was going to join the Stray Animal Association, she volunteered to go with her.

The two of them wandered around the teaching building for a while before finally finding the association's location.

Li Zhi was panting heavily. "Luckily, I asked a friend, otherwise, it would have been really hard to find such a remote location."

Unlike other student organizations that used banners and loudspeakers in the square to attract new students, the Stray Animal Association did not apply for a booth, leaving new students who wanted to enroll with nowhere to go.

As for the reason, according to the (rumored) news that Li Zhi heard, not long after Jiang Chengyi joined the club, before his cold and ruthless personality was revealed, many freshmen and seniors, both male and female, were confused and used the excuse of joining the club to flirt with each other.

After Jiang Cheng publicly rejected 14 people, made 3 people cry, and fired all those who liked him, this trend finally stopped. However, he could no longer tolerate it and stopped actively recruiting new members.

A sign reading "Stray Animal Association" hung at the entrance of the club, indicating its identity. Yu Miaomiao knocked on the door, and after a short while, someone called out, "Coming!" and ran to open the door.

The door opened, and a girl wearing an apron and with cat hair in her hair stood in the doorway.

"Hello," the girl said, "How can I help you?"

Yu Miaomiao said, "I want to join your club."

The girl clearly had never hired anyone before. She paused for a moment and said, "Ah, I'm not in charge of that. Wait a minute, I'll call the club president."

She walked inside, revealing the interior of the room. It was probably a converted warehouse, very large, filled with cages, but there were only a few cats. It was fully equipped, and even had an operating table.

A short while later, someone walked over, and Yu Miaomiao looked at them, then her gaze froze.

Jiang Chengyi wore a pink Hello Kitty apron, which was far too small for his size, pitifully covering his broad upper body. Strands of cat hair clung to the apron and his hair. He wore a dust mask, revealing only his phoenix eyes.

His expression remained calm, yet in this setting, it possessed a strange sense of humor.

Yu Miaomiao's eyes widened; this appearance was a stark contrast to the Jiang Chengyi she usually saw.
