Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Yu Miaomiao infiltrated Jiang Cheng's family for two whole days, and her results are as follows:

They ate 8 cans of limited edition Cat Delight brand canned food, 5 dried cod, and 2 bags of freeze-dried food.

Jiang Cheng went out 5 times, including 2 times to the laboratory, 2 times to the hospital, and 1 time to get a haircut.

I overheard Jiang Chengyi answering the phone 23 times, including 1 time related to the FA scholarship, 2 times from friends, 6 times related to his thesis, 7 times related to various public welfare projects, and 7 times when he contacted me after finding a cat.

Yu Miaomiao breathed a sigh of relief upon learning that Jiang Cheng had completed two public welfare projects, had only one project in progress, and had three papers pending publication, one as the first author and two as the second author.

Yu Miaomiao couldn't believe that there was someone at University A who was just as diligent as she was.

Her sense of crisis grew stronger, and she made up her mind to allocate some of her coding time to replicate Jiang Chengyi's project.

"Ringling..."

The shrill ring of the cell phone startled Yu Miaomiao, who was comfortably nestled on her pillow, and she immediately perked up her ears.

"Found a litter of kittens in the park? Please take them to Cat Paradise Animal Hospital and show me your call log."

"Meow"

The kitten lay back down bored; it was another cat that had been picked up.

"If you don't know the location, wait for me at the north gate in half an hour. I also need to go to the hospital."

Hearing this, the kitten secretly made a plan. This person always spent a long time at the hospital, enough time for it to sneak away.

Although she had no classes on Monday and could stay at Jiang Cheng's house for another day, Yu Miaomiao hadn't touched a keyboard to write code for two days and was itching to do so, so she reluctantly gave up the cat food.

The kitten buried its head and pretended to be asleep, but its keen hearing accurately detected Jiang Chengyi's actions.

Pick the cat up from the bed and put it in its cage, make the bed, sweep the floor, change clothes, put on a coat, grab the keys, and then open the door—

Hmm, why are the footsteps getting closer?

"Click"

The cage door was opened, and Yu Miaomiao opened her cat eyes in surprise, revealing Jiang Chengyi's magnified handsome face in front of her.

Then, she was grabbed by the back of the neck and lifted up.

“Meow meow meow!”

Human, weren't you going to the hospital? Why are you grabbing me?

The kitten waved its paws in the air and made dissatisfied noises.

"Stop fooling around, I'm taking you to the hospital for a checkup."

Its head was skillfully ruffled before being ruthlessly stuffed into a flight case.

The hospital was very close to the community; it arrived in the time it took to take a nap.

While Jiang Cheng was talking to someone else, the kitten cautiously observed its surroundings, preparing to run out the moment the box was opened.

Just kidding, it doesn't want to be checked.

"Chengyi, are we going to give this cat a check-up?"

A man wearing diamond-encrusted sunglasses and flamboyant clothes observed Yu Miaomiao and casually remarked.

He is the director of Cat Paradise Hospital, and occasionally works as a receptionist. He has a good relationship with Jiang Chengyi, who often brings his cat there.

"Hmm, stray cat, give it a full check-up."

"So cute, let me take a look." The man opened the box and hugged the cat to his arms.

"So well-behaved, not moving at all, doesn't seem like a stray cat." The man played with the kitten over and over, pinching its ears, paw pads, and tail.

The kitten tilted its head and looked at the dean, blinking its big, round eyes innocently, and meowed.

"So cute, so cute, my heart has melted."

The hospital director sighed, then took out his phone from his pocket, "It would be a shame not to shoot a video and post it to Xiaodigua. It would definitely increase the number of followers on the hospital's official account."

Fell into a trap!

The kitten seized its opportunity, taking advantage of the person's distraction, kicked with its hind legs, and then—

It rushed into Jiang Chengyi's arms, having anticipated its actions.

"He's faking it; he's very wild and you can't hold him."

Jiang Chengyi skillfully controlled the cat's wildly flailing limbs and stuffed it into the box.

"Make sure the door is closed properly when conducting the examination."

The man gave an OK sign. "I didn't realize this kitten was so strong."

He shouted into the room, "Xiaomin, there's work to be done!"

After Yu Miaomiao made a mistake, she was immediately placed under tight surveillance. Even picking up a fingernail was done with her hair wrapped up tightly, and she was humiliatingly stripped of her hair to remove insects and receive an injection.

Just when it thought everything was over, an even bigger piece of bad news arrived.

-

"It's a young female cat that hasn't been an adult for long. She doesn't show any signs of malnutrition and is very healthy. Her small size is probably natural, and you can't tell what breed she is."

The dean handed the inspection report to Jiang Chengyi and asked, "Still the same as before?"

The "usual way" refers to the fact that every time Jiang Chengyi picks up a cat, he takes it to the Cat Paradise Hospital for examination and boarding, entrusting the hospital to find adopters.

Although he rents a place outside, he never keeps cats himself.

“Don’t look for adoptive parents yet,” Jiang Chengyi’s answer this time was different from before.

The dean chuckled, "So, you've finally decided to get yourself a cat?"

Jiang Cheng didn't answer, but said only, "Perhaps it got lost. Let's find its original owner first."

The dean waved his hand, "What are you looking for? It's been a stray for so long. If the owner cared, how could they not find a single missing cat post online?"

He said disdainfully, "I've seen plenty of people like this. They act impulsively and have no sense of responsibility whatsoever. You might as well just take care of them."

Then she said with relief, "This is the first time I've ever seen a cat dare to hiss at you."

Jiang Cheng is a man of few expressions. He has slight nearsightedness and habitually looks at people with his phoenix eyes half-closed. Coupled with his cold and handsome appearance, he exudes an astonishing aura, which applies not only to people but also to animals.

No matter how fierce a cat or dog is, it will tuck its ears and tail in front of him and tremble in fear.

"It is indeed not afraid of me."

Jiang Cheng pondered for a moment, then chuckled softly, "Very clever."

"Dean, something terrible has happened! The kitten is stressed!"

Nurse Xiaomin rushed over, looking flustered.

The two entered the room and saw a kitten with its fur standing on end, its eyes wary, huddled in the corner of the cage.

The dean took a step closer, but was scared back by its bared teeth.

"What project did you just work on? Why are you suddenly so stressed?"

Xiaomin was puzzled, "It's just shaving the hair on its belly, in preparation for surgery."

"I shaved the kitten's fur when it got its vaccination, but it didn't seem to react."

"Why is it selective stress?" the dean asked in surprise.

"Maybe it understands human speech."

Jiang Chengyi said, "It was scared when it heard that we were going to perform surgery on it."

"Maybe," the dean shrugged. He'd seen plenty of clever cats in his long career.

He looked at Jiang Chengyi: "What should we do? Take him back first, and come back in a couple of days?"

"No need, let it stay here overnight to get used to the environment. We'll make it tomorrow."

Jiang Chengyi made a decision: "It's better to get sterilized as soon as possible."

"Meow--"

Upon hearing the word "sterilization," Yu Miaomiao let out a cry of grief and indignation from deep within her throat.

During the examination, Yu Miaomiao cooperated obediently with the injections and medications, even though she was unwilling.

When it came time to shave her belly hair, Yu Miaomiao immediately became alert.

The nurses' conversation further convinced it that these humans were going to spay one of its kittens!

It resisted desperately, finally making them give up on shaving its fur. It thought it had escaped a disaster, but Jiang Chengyi was still unwilling to give up!

You despicable humans, how dare you perform this kind of surgery on me!
