Chapter 89 Extra: Home
Finally, choose a good place and live slowly.
The sun is shining brightly outside.
The setting sun sprinkled golden dust onto the thin leaves of Yunling Mountain, and a sudden evening breeze dispelled the summer heat, bringing a touch of intoxicating coolness.
In the courtyard, Tang Yu's parents were bringing in the medicinal herbs that had been drying in the yard. Xie Xingzheng, meanwhile, was in the kitchen tending the fire and cooking, the aroma of the food already wafting through the air.
Tang Yu was responsible for looking after her one-year-old daughter, feeling utterly bored.
The little one was sleeping soundly, his little hands unconsciously gripping the corner of the blanket, trying to put it in his mouth.
Tang Yu quickly stopped her, and her round, soft little face immediately scrunched up, and she even let out a dissatisfied hum.
Fortunately, he didn't wake up.
Tang Yu breathed a sigh of relief, quickly found a clean napkin, and reluctantly stuffed it into her mouth, thus giving up on correcting this bad habit.
The little girl sucked on it, her eyebrows and eyes instantly relaxing, showing a hint of satisfaction. Her delicate little face, inheriting the best features of her parents, was fair with a rosy glow, like a little dumpling, making one want to take a bite.
However, as cute as she is, her crying can be truly horrible.
Otherwise, we wouldn't have given her the nickname "Baby".
It sounds like the sound of someone crying loudly.
Tang Yu pinched the little girl's cheek and couldn't help but think:
Were you just as unruly and difficult to manage when you were a child?
However, becoming a memory for Tang Yuqian is too distant now.
She didn't remember much about what happened before she was sent into the blood pool as a sacrifice for "Moon Dream," only some very vague memories.
But as they had children, those blurry fragments gradually became clearer.
It was a dilapidated house with some drafts, and more than one family lived there.
Originally, the poor could not afford to live in such houses and should have been homeless on the streets, begging for food to survive.
Strangely enough, she never seemed to go hungry during that time.
It seems that food falls from the sky at fixed times and locations.
At that time, she wasn't very bright and couldn't understand many of the things involved.
So I don't understand why the older sister would want to run away with her.
Having food to eat and a place to sleep, isn't that good?
Looking back now, Tang Yu finally understands why Yueying hates her so much.
Because long ago, Yueying was the smartest one, always trying to save herself and strive to survive.
But she always seemed to lack that final push, always succumbing to fate.
Because of that failed escape attempt, she, who was not old enough, was also thrown into the blood pool to be refined into poison.
No wonder Yueying, among thousands of pitiful children, only taught her to eat the worms.
The former Yueying also had a gentle and harmless smile.
Looking at the bewildered Tang Yu, he took her hand and whispered in the night, "Let's run together."
Tang Yu let out a long sigh, unaware that she had pinched the doll's face a little too hard.
The next moment, the little girl slowly woke up and burst into tears.
Tang Yu covered her eyes in despair, then quickly put them down, immediately put on a bright smile, reached out to pick her up, and softly comforted her.
Xie Xingzheng had just finished cooking when he heard the child crying. He quickly put down the dishes he was holding and rushed into the house.
After a few gentle words, the little guy miraculously stopped crying, giggled, and reached out to touch his face.
"You little ingrate," Tang Yu said, making a face at her.
The baby laughed even harder and reached out to Tang Yu, wanting to go back into her arms.
Tang Yu proudly took the person back into her arms: "Mother is still the best."
Xie Xingzheng stood to the side, looking at her with a gentle smile.
Noticing the slight redness at the corner of her eyes, he tenderly raised his hand to touch it. Tang Yu subconsciously closed her eyes, her eyelashes trembling slightly as they brushed against his fingertips.
He couldn't resist leaning in and planting a kiss on her cheek.
Tang Yu turned around, saw him smiling, and smiled back.
Outside, their parents called them to eat.
The ordinary yet heartwarming daily life filled Tang Yu's heart with happiness.
Such days are filled with contentment and peace in every moment.
Tang Yu walked out while playing with the baby.
She suddenly thought that perhaps she should find an opportunity to ask someone to bring Yueying's remains back to Nanyue.
Although Yueying does not deserve forgiveness or sympathy.
However, compared to the unknown that fate pushes us toward, everyone should eventually have a place to belong.
Even if Nan Yue wasn't a good choice, it was still the most memorable part of her past.
*
Five years later.
The short-armed, short-legged toddler struggled to climb the tree with Tang Yu, then opened his round eyes and looked into the distance.
She asked curiously, "Mommy, what are you looking at?"
"The outside world."
"What's it like outside Yunling Mountain?"
"Even my mother can't explain it clearly; I haven't been to many places."
"Does Father know?"
"Some of the places your father visited were too desolate."
"Isn't desolation a good thing?"
"Perhaps it's your father who thinks it's not good."
Tang Yu smiled, her eyes crinkling, and patted her little head. "But you might like it, who knows?"
"Will Mother come with me to see it?"
“Your mother has already gone to see it,” Tang Yu said gently. “So, when you grow up, you can go down the mountain and see it yourself.”
Look, the thousands of lanterns in Zhongjing, the magnificent mountains and seas of Jianghu, and all the myriad forms of this world.
Perhaps, you will experience a life full of wonderful colors.
Finally, choose a good place and live a slow and steady life.
"only……"
Tang Yu blinked and instructed, "Remember to go home and see if your father has bullied your frail mother."
baby:"……"
Her father always doted on her mother, never daring to raise his voice, so she didn't believe her mother would be bullied.
Footsteps could be heard coming from under the tree.
The child peeked out and saw it was his father.
Xie Xingzheng looked up at the two children hanging in the tree again, his voice filled with both helplessness and tenderness: "Come down quickly, what if you fall?"
"Who are you afraid of falling?" Tang Yu tilted her head.
As the child climbed down using both hands and feet, he explained, "Of course, Daddy is afraid Mommy will fall. I'm just a little kid, my bones are soft, I won't get hurt if I fall."
From a young age, she learned nothing but how to be self-reliant.
Xie Xingzheng chuckled, coaxing Tang Yu with a voice filled with an indescribable doting affection, soft and gentle: "Xiao Yu, jump down, I'll catch you."
Tang Yu curled her lips into a smile and leaped down from the high branch.
She landed steadily in his arms.
He hugged her tightly.
The two of them, of course, would not truly forget the little girl.
Finally, they took the children's little hands and walked together back to their home.
[Author's Note]
That concludes the side stories that continue from the main story. The following side stories are all character biographies, and you can choose to read them selectively based on the titles and names (of course, the author would be very happy if you read them all).
I originally wrote a lot of rambling thoughts, but ultimately decided against posting them. I don't want to force my emotions onto everyone. I know my writing skills are lacking and it's not well-written, so thank you to those of you who read on, saving me from giving up so many times. Finally, I hope everyone can live a fulfilling and happy life. Sending you all love!
