Chapter 77 Guiding Fate
With her ears covered by her second brother, Qiuqiu looked up at the three of them with a confused expression.
What happened?
What was the meaning of that last "beep beep" sound?
Su Yunyi's act of covering his ears was of little use, but he didn't know that the Law Master had already activated the child protection mode for Qiuqiu, automatically muting out swear words.
He pressed down on Chiu Chiu's head, which was shaking back and forth. "Good children shouldn't listen."
Curiosity killed the cat, and hearing swear words will ruin Chirp.
Jiang Yuming broke down: "Second Brother Su, look at me!"
As Jiang Yuming lay sprawled on the ground, he felt a piercing pain in his calf; it felt like his leg was broken!
The girl standing opposite him also felt a slight pain in her calves, but she didn't utter a sound.
When I brought this strange fat guy home yesterday, I noticed so many things were off. Today, two more siblings with similar issues appeared. There are just too many strange things, yet together they all seem to make sense.
She had a vague premonition that her life would be completely changed from this point on!
Su Yunyi stepped forward and helped Jiang Yuming up with difficulty. After a thorough examination, he told him with a heavy heart, "Based on my half-baked medical skills, it really is broken."
Given Jiang Yuming's weight, he couldn't possibly carry the person back.
Then he looked at Qiuqiu, who was lying next to Jiang Yuming, propping herself up on the bed with her little hands and looking at him with concern. Well, he wasn't confident he could take her back either. He really missed his mighty and strong older brother every day!
"Young lady, could you let him stay here for another half day? I'll go back and inform his family, then bring people to move him out."
The girl wasn't an unapproachable person, so she nodded in agreement.
Jiujiu nudged Su Yunyi's outstretched hand and pointed outside, indicating that he should leave on his own.
How could I abandon Brother Yuming at this crucial moment!
Su Yunyi hadn't expected that Qiuqiu would be so loyal.
[Second brother, you should leave already! I think I'd be able to witness a melodramatic family soap opera here!]
[A family that favors sons over daughters, a bloodsucking brother, a girl hiding deep in the mountains—welcome to the Jiang Family Storytelling Session! I'm Qiuqiu, and I'll be seeing you at 8 PM~]
Su Yunyi: "???"
Su Yunyi could never understand his mother's joy, because no one understood Qiuqiu's ability to retell stories better than his mother. Just the beginning of one story left his "ignorant" second brother dizzy and unsteady on his feet as he left.
"Chirp, stay here, I'll go find you some people!"
He also needs to go back and ask his family what they've been teaching Qiuqiu all day long!
After Su Yunyi left, only the three children were left in the room staring at each other.
The girl was in poor health and lived alone in the mountains. She had been alone since she could remember. Every day, an old woman would bring her food, but the old woman died two years ago, and a man took her in instead.
The mother-in-law used to spend more time with her, but this man would just drop off his things and leave.
Life was dull and monotonous. She casually buried some seeds outside, and they grew into vegetables. She found some enjoyment in this and fell in love with growing vegetables.
The man was not talkative, but seeing that she loved growing vegetables, he brought her some extra seeds.
The patch outside is growing the best, and that's where she put in the effort.
What a pity...
It was ruined by a fat guy who fell from the sky!
The worst part is that even though he ruined her food, she felt incredibly guilty and sad when she was with him. So she decided it was better to avoid seeing him altogether!
She was still a child and couldn't hide her emotions, so she turned her back and simply stopped looking at him.
Jiang Yuming secretly breathed a sigh of relief when he saw her turn her back. All of this felt like a surreal dream to him.
Qiuqiu lay down next to Jiang Yuming, wondering why they weren't talking.
[Are you sleepy? Why aren't you saying anything?]
As if in response to Qiuqiu's question, the girl turned around and finally couldn't help but ask first, "What's your name? Where are you from? What are you doing in my house?"
Jiang Yuming pursed his lips and said with a sullen face, "My name is Jiang Yuming, but my family doesn't love me. I'm just a vessel to prolong my sister's life, so I don't want to be surnamed Jiang anymore! From now on, my surname will be Yu!"
"Fish?" Chirping asked疑惑地, "With my last name?"
"As for how I got here..."
A strange look appeared on Jiang Yuming's face. It wasn't that he didn't want to talk about it, but rather that he couldn't explain it. After running away from home last night, he wandered around the city like a headless fly. He didn't know what was controlling him. He, who was usually not fond of moving, ran more than ten miles out of the city in one go. He wandered around the mountains for a long time, and finally lost his footing and fell unconscious.
When I woke up again, I was in this terrible state.
"If I could do it all over again, I definitely wouldn't come here!"
Chuchu twitched her little nose and made a sound like a humming; she didn't believe it!
No one can defy the guidance of fate!
"And you? What's your name? Why are you here all alone?"
“I have no name, and no parents. I live here all by myself.”
Everything about her was blank; it was as if her life consisted only of the word "living".
But those two words kept weighing on her, making it hard for her to breathe.
Jiang Yuming didn't know whether to pity her or himself, so he finally decided: "Your family doesn't want you anymore, and I don't want my family anymore either. From now on, we'll be family! I'll be the older brother, and you'll be the younger sister! We'll live together from now on!"
The girl tilted her head and thought for a moment, a slight blush rising on her pale face, before she readily agreed: "Okay!"
Ignoring his leg pain, Jiang Yuming forced himself to sit up straight and waved his hand, saying, "We don't want those parents who don't care about their children anymore!"
Chirp: [...]
[Go ahead and throw them, who can throw them faster than you?]
After looking at each other for so long, did neither of them notice that the other looked somewhat like them?
When Su Yunyi arrived at the city gate, Lord Jiang was walking out of the city with the patrol soldiers.
He quickly stopped the group: "Lord Jiang, please wait!"
Upon closer inspection, Lord Jiang was astonished to find it was Su Yunyi!
"Yun Yi, what happened to you? Why are you like this?"
His disheveled appearance was truly unsightly, as if he had rolled around in a mud pit.
Su Yunyi really had to praise the person who built the house for that girl. He wondered how they found such a good place.
Not only was it easy to defend and difficult to attack, but it was also covered with a layer of green plants, which made it very difficult for him to climb up.
"Lord Jiang, please don't say such things. I was just about to go find you. I've found Yuming!"
"Really?" Lord Jiang jumped off his horse excitedly, no longer caring about him, and grabbed his arm to ask immediately, "Where? Can he be injured?"
"Yuming is not doing well; it seems he has injured his left leg. My nephew took a look, and it appears to be broken."
"I can't say for sure about that place."
"Where?" Lord Jiang mounted his horse, as if Su Yunyi would leave as soon as he finished speaking.
"About three miles east of the city, then turn left and go east again. There's a desolate mountain..."
"drive!"
Su Yunyi froze, then shouted at the fleeing Lord Jiang, "There's a slope on the mountain! Be careful, sir!"
They're really impatient; they don't even let people finish speaking!
