Chapter 1 found shuhaige.net

(A heads-up before watching: the male and female leads are not related by blood.)

(This work features a flexible bloodline; if you believe it exists, then it exists; if you believe it doesn't, then it doesn't.)

(Slow start, it is recommended to read the first ten chapters to get into the rhythm)

At noon, the sun was shining brightly.

The summer sun was glaring, baking the earth relentlessly. Even the occasional breeze carried heat, and the street temperature was frighteningly high.

A heavy footstep landed on the ground. After catching his breath, Wen Mo squinted and looked up at the cloudless blue sky. The scorching sun had soaked his entire body with sweat.

"What kind of weather is this... It must be around 800 degrees Celsius now..."

I went to the express delivery station to pick up a package and ended up looking like a dog from the sun. You'd think I'd just taken a shower on the street, my whole body was covered in sweat.

Feeling a strange urge to complain, yet unsure of whom to blame, Wen Mo touched the delivery box, which was gradually becoming damp with sweat from his hands, and quickened his pace home.

There were very few people in the neighborhood at noon. It took me almost ten minutes to pick up my package and I didn't see many people. I guess they were all hiding at home enjoying the air conditioning. No one would come out to sunbathe after a full meal.

With heavy steps, Wen Mo stepped into the stairwell after a few steps. The sudden drop in temperature in the stairwell enveloped him, making him feel so comfortable that he couldn't speak.

"Cool!"

After pausing in the hallway for a few seconds, he entered the elevator as usual. After experiencing a few moments of weightlessness, he quietly exited the elevator and finally stood on his floor.

I coughed twice as usual to wake up the motion-activated lights in the hallway, and all the furnishings in the brightly lit hallway were on full display.

Wen Mo walked with his head down, groping for his keys in his pocket. But when he looked up to open the door, he froze, his gaze fixed on an unfamiliar figure in the stairwell of his building.

In his line of sight, a girl sat half-sitting by the stairwell, seemingly oblivious to the sound of Wen Mo's footsteps, leaning against the wall with her eyes closed and silent.

Her face was sickly white, her hair was tied in a big ponytail that hung over her shoulders, and she occasionally nodded slightly as she sat on the ground with her hands wrapped around her knees.

Upon closer inspection, a few strands of hair clung to her cheeks. She wore a loose white t-shirt, which seemed to be clinging to her body due to excessive sweating. Her blue jeans were somewhat faded and appeared to be inexplicably frayed due to wear and tear. Her shoes were very clean, as if they were washed frequently.

"Uh...did I go to the wrong place?"

Wen Mo glanced at the security door next to the girl, and the familiar door number "504" made him accept the fact that he was home.

I hadn't seen this girl in the hallway before I left the building.

I don't know if she was asleep or what, but a few seconds passed and there was no sound at all.

Looking at the suitcase next to the girl, a series of thoughts flashed through Wen Mo's mind.

They must be the lady next door's guests.

With that thought in mind, he stopped thinking about the girl, took a step, walked past her, took out his key, inserted it into the lock, and turned it a few times to open the door.

Throughout the entire process, the girl showed no signs of waking up. She just sat quietly by the stairwell. If it weren't for the rise and fall of her back with her breathing, Wen Mo might have really thought something had happened to her.

"Should we wake her up...?"

Looking back, it didn't seem right to let her sit in the hallway forever.

After much deliberation, Wen Mo felt somewhat unsettled.

Perhaps the neighbor will be back soon, so letting her stay in the hallway a little longer shouldn't be a big problem.

It would be quite troublesome if there were any misunderstandings later.

He shook his head, no longer wasting time, and gently closed the door.

Meddling in other people's business is not a good habit.

Locking the door to cut off contact with the outside world, Wen Mo quickly stripped off his sweaty clothes, grabbed the air conditioner remote and pressed several buttons to adjust the temperature to a comfortable level before rushing into the bathroom.

The cool water flowed over his chest, washing away the sticky sweat from his body.

The smell of sweat gradually disappeared, replaced by the fragrance of shower gel. Wenmo enjoyed the process; getting himself clean was a very comfortable thing.

A few minutes later, Wenmo dried her body and hair and changed into her home clothes.

The moment he opened the bathroom door, the cool temperature of the air conditioner permeated every pore of his body, and the brows that had been furrowed due to the temperature finally relaxed.

"Air conditioning is truly one of the greatest inventions of mankind... It feels so good, I'm going to go to heaven..."

The air-conditioned room after a shower is truly like a fairyland.

"Alright, now for the main event."

With a smile on his face, he casually picked up a pair of scissors from the drawer and easily tore open the package he had just brought back from outside.

I bought about 30 cheap ice creams online. Even if I eat one a day, it will last me a month.

After taking out his favorite flavor, Wenmer put all the remaining ice cream into the freezer.

"But... why does this ice cream taste a little too sweet?"

After a few bites, my tongue was numb from the sweetness. It was obvious that too much industrial saccharin had been added. But all this ice cream didn't cost me much, so what more could I ask for?

Licking the sweet ice cream, feeling bored, he casually pulled out a test paper from his desk, holding the ice cream in his left hand and a black pen in his right, and immediately began writing.

The ice cream was too sweet, so I had to eat something bitter to balance it out.

The air outside was stuffy and hot, and an air-conditioned room was undoubtedly the best learning environment. However, even with the cool air conditioning blowing, Wen Mo's mind still couldn't calm down this time.
