Chapter 105 A Heart Flutter

The cake I bought for my birthday was really delicious.

"It's so sweet..." she said, but tears dripped onto the cream, and the sting in her nose was more pronounced than the sweetness.

Wen Mo helped wipe away her tears. He didn't know what the girl was thinking. Perhaps she was thinking about the past again. He sighed and hugged the girl in his arms.

"Don't be sad, it's our birthday, we should be happy." Wen Mo forced a smile.

Xia Lian shook her head, and the discomfort in her heart gradually dissipated.

My cousin's embrace seems to have a special magic; as long as I lie in his arms, all my sadness and sorrow will slowly disappear.

My chest felt filled with something warm. Happiness, perhaps, is the word used to describe this feeling…

"Wen Mo, no need to worry..." She opened her eyes, her two red-rimmed eyes narrowing slightly.

The next second, a faint smile tinged with tears appeared on the girl's face, as if it were a combination of candlelight and tears. The slightly upturned corners of her mouth and her slightly narrowed eyes were full of purity and gentleness.

She smiled.

"I am very happy right now..."

Xia Lian raised her arms and hugged Wen Mo. The tearful smile quickly disappeared, unaware that just moments before, this man's mind had already conjured up countless endings.

This fleeting moment is an eternal, heart-fluttering experience.

It was as if that smile enveloped his entire body, making it difficult to even breathe. He reached out and covered his chest, the little head of the girl in his arms making Wen Mo's eyes tremble even more.

After a long while, the two separated. Xia Lian sat obediently in her seat and continued eating her cake, glancing at Wen Mo as if nothing had happened.

Seeing his stunned expression, Xia Lian's eyes flashed with a hint of doubt, and she tilted her head slightly, "Wen Mo, aren't you going to eat cake?"

Only then did Wen Mo emerge from his earlier infatuation, finding the girl's face increasingly adorable, her every move tugging at his heartstrings.

"I...I'll eat later, you eat first." He smiled nervously, the tightness in his chest making him very uncomfortable. "I'm going to the restroom, I'll be right back."

After saying that, he ran towards the toilet as if fleeing, leaving Xia Lian with a puzzled expression.

"Haa, haa..."

Wen Mo gasped for breath, staring intently at himself in the mirror. The next second, he turned on the tap, splashing icy water onto his face, trying to clear his head.

No matter how much she washed, it was no use; her heart rate only increased, and her mind was completely frozen on that smile from just now.

"I, I..."

He leaned against the wall, slowly sat down on the ground, and scratched his hair repeatedly with both hands.

Wenmo didn't know what he was thinking just now, he only felt that a thought had come to mind: protecting that smile from before was his mission for the rest of his life.

Clutching his chest, Wenmo's head drooped on his knees, the girl's clear words echoing in his ears.

"I am very happy right now..."

At that moment, the warmth in Xia Lian's eyes was like a spring breeze blowing across a lake, instantly stirring the waters of her heart. The ripples in that instant were the unspoken beat of her heart.

Wen Mo relaxed his breathing, looked up at the bathroom light, and revealed a helpless, self-deprecating smile.

Yes, we should have admitted it a long time ago.

I like her, I like my cousin.

I've fallen for Xia Lian.
