Chapter 123 Something's Wrong

At some point, the two reached a consensus: not to hold hands in front of acquaintances, a suggestion that was first made by Wenmo.

Since realizing he liked this girl, he has held her hand less often. It's not that he's embarrassed to hold her hand, but every time he does, he feels inexplicably hot under the gazes around him, as if he's being burned by a heat ray.

A few sentences keep repeating in my mind:

We're not in that kind of relationship, but I kind of want to be. Is it possible for our relationship to take things a step further...?

His mind was stuck at a certain stage, which made him very uncomfortable, so he simply stopped holding hands.

The atmosphere was even stranger today. After receiving the love letter, Xia Lian's reaction was neither one of liking nor disliking, as if nothing had happened.

She didn't understand what a love letter was.

"Let me see who wrote the letter."

When Wenmo got home, he glanced at the pink envelope and the cute doodle decorations on it, and his heart seemed to beat a little faster.

Wen Mo carefully opened the envelope, let out a long breath, and called out to Xia Lian, asking her to sit down next to him and read the letter with him.

"Can I watch too?" Xia Lian sat down next to him blankly, her eyes revealing no emotion.

"...Never mind, I'll tell you the gist of it later."

I always feel it would be impolite to let someone other than the recipient see what's written in the letter, since it's a letter someone wrote with love in their heart.

Shaking his head, Wen Mo held the letter in his hand and read it word by word.

As expected, it was indeed a love letter, containing over two thousand words in beautiful handwriting without a single typo. If this were an exam, the handwriting alone would earn extra points.

In just two thousand words, she vividly portrayed the love hidden in a young girl's heart, even describing her feelings when she first met Wen Mo.

But... the further I read, the more something seemed off.

After reading the whole thing, Wen Mo finally understood what was going on with some of the recent bizarre things, such as the constant, indistinct gazes around him, his belongings always mysteriously disappearing, and the feeling that someone was following him when walking down the corridor.

"That's a total stalker!"

A chill ran down Wenmo's spine; the words inside were so beautiful, yet the written words were inexplicably terrifying.

In particular, the psychological process behind his actions was described in great detail.

Putting down the letter, Wen Mo didn't know how to feel. The person who wrote this love letter always seemed very morbid to her.

Wen Mo glanced at the signature on the letter one last time, frowned slightly, and unconsciously read the name aloud.

"Jiang Meng".

An unfamiliar name.

The love letter stated that the first time she met Wenmo was during the freshman orientation ceremony, and the letter addressed her as President Wenmo, indicating that this guy was a freshman.

The handwriting is so beautiful, but the person is a bit scary.

"Have you finished reading?"

Seeing that Wen Mo was not moving, Xia Lian moved her face closer and waved her hand in front of him, "What's written inside?"

Wen Mo finally came to his senses. He had been so captivated by the love letter that he couldn't imagine what the person who wrote it was like.

"I told you when I came back, this is what you call a love letter." He took the envelope back and put the letter back in.

"love letter?"

"It's about writing down what you want to say in a letter and expressing your affection for the other person."

In the past, Wen Mo would carefully read the love letter once, then toss it aside and ignore it, without intending to contact the writer.

This is considered a default rejection.

But today's situation is a bit special. I feel like the other side is scary, so I have to talk to her in person and tell her to stop doing things like a stalker.

Suddenly I realized why my gaze was unusually intense this morning. It wasn't on Xia Lian; the object of my gaze had always been me...?

How scary, how scary.

Wen Mo placed the love letter on the table and was about to say a few words when he turned around and found that Xia Lian was no longer beside him.

"Where did he go? Where did he go?" He scratched his head, got up and looked around.

But then they saw Xia Lian taking small steps out of the room, holding a pen and a piece of white paper in her hand, and carefully stepping to the table.

Then she squatted down, quickly wrote a few words with her little hands holding the pen, and turned to hand it to Wen Mo with an expression of waiting for praise.

What are you doing?

Wen Mo twitched the corners of his mouth and took the white paper she handed him.

Upon opening the paper, a line of crooked, small characters appeared in the very center: "I like Wen Mo, Xia Lian likes Wen Mo."

You can't judge a book by its cover. I didn't expect that pretty people would have beautiful handwriting.

"……This is?"

"love letter."

"...Oh, I see. Thank you so much for liking me." Wen Mo wanted to laugh a little, but felt that he couldn't spoil her feelings, so he pretended to be serious as he accepted the cute love letter and reached out to pat Xia Lian's head.

The two love letters were placed side by side. One was exquisitely decorated with beautiful handwriting, while the other was written on messy paper with crooked handwriting. But after reading the first love letter, all that remained was a chill in my heart.

As expected, my Xia Lian is still the cutest.

Xia Lian squinted comfortably. Lately, for some reason, Wen Mo had become hesitant to approach her, which troubled her greatly.

Xia Lian thoroughly enjoyed the rare opportunity to pat her head, making gurgling sounds as she gently shook her head.

Compared to the little black cat sleeping in its nest, this 159cm tall little girl looks more like a cat.
