Chapter 14 Washing Machine

Yes, and it was a huge help.

Without this girl's help, it would have been quite tiring for Wenmo to clean up all by himself... to be honest.

Thinking of this, he looked at the golden sunlight covering the ground, a smile appeared on his lips, and his right hand subconsciously went to stroke the girl's head.

"ah……"

They both froze at the same time.

Xia Lian looked up, somewhat puzzled, and met his gaze, but made no attempt to stop him.

Instead, Wen Mo felt a little embarrassed when he realized that his actions were a bit too intimate. Just as he was about to put down his hand that was stroking him, Xia Lian's small hand gently grabbed his wrist.

"well?"

Wen Mo paused, taken aback.

Looking at her as she cautiously opened her mouth.

"You can touch the head..."

After saying that, she slowly closed her eyes like a kitten waiting to be petted, even raising her head slightly, and waited quietly.

"..."

Wen Mo swallowed hard, his hands trembling slightly.

His right hand hovered in mid-air. Looking at Xia Lian's tightly closed eyes, he no longer hesitated and tentatively placed his hand on her head, gently rubbing it.

Because of its smooth hair, Xia Lian's head felt very nice to the touch, and he even found himself reluctant to put it down.

Throughout the process, Xia Lian gently closed her eyes, her expression gradually becoming relaxed, and the warmth on her head gave her an unprecedented sense of security.

Just like a real cat.

Because the two were so close, Wenmo could even smell the fragrance on the other person's body and hair, which gradually calmed his initially nervous mood.

Sunlight streamed through the window, bathing the room in a golden hue.

The image of the boy stroking the girl's head was also silhouetted by the sun, stretching long across the ground, creating a tranquil scene.

"Knock knock knock...!"

Just then, a loud knocking sounded at the door, startling the two people inside. Wen Mo quickly pulled his arm back, afraid of being seen.

He quickly got up and awkwardly scratched his cheek.

"It's over..." Xia Lian opened her eyes with a disappointed look as she felt the warmth disappear from her head, but she still obediently followed behind her cousin.

"Is anyone home? I'm the air conditioner repairman!" When no one answered, the repairman outside the door shouted out his identity.

Upon hearing this, Wen Mo realized that the air conditioning technician he had called had arrived, and he quickly got up and walked towards the entrance.

"Please come in and speak. I'll be troubling you in a bit, Master."

He opened the door politely, and after his master entered, Wen Mo gave Xia Lian a look, signaling her to go back to the next room first.

Xia Lian understood and nodded gently, the two exchanging silent glances.

"Sir, this is the broken air conditioner."

He led his master to another room and pointed to the air conditioner hanging on the wall.

"How long has it been broken?"

"..."

Winmer was stuck because he didn't know how long it had been broken. Several months ago, when he tried to turn it on to let some air in, it had already stopped working.

"It's been about... half a year, I think."

"It takes six months to get someone to fix it?"

The technician turned around and looked at him in surprise, then pulled over a chair from the side, placed it on the bed board, and carefully inspected the air conditioner.

It seemed that some problem had been found, because the machine was making a clanging sound as parts collided with a screwdriver. It was quite a satisfying sound.

Wenmo couldn't understand it either, so he could only watch helplessly from the sidelines.

The master stood very straight in the chair, only his back was visible.

His back view was very ordinary, just like any middle-aged man you randomly picked up on the street.

Seeing this scene, feeling bored, he suddenly had a flash of inspiration and remembered a joke about an air conditioner repairman.

Without much thought, Wenmo blurted out the answer, a bright smile on his face.

"Master, what do you do for a living?"

Sure enough, when the master heard this, he turned around and gave Wen Mo a look that said he was an idiot, without saying a word, and then silently turned back a few seconds later.

Pfft...

Wen Mo suppressed a laugh, said something, and then hid in the next room.

Even though people treated me like an idiot, it was actually quite fun.

"Wenmo, are you laughing?"

As soon as the door opened, Xia Lian, who had been sitting upright on the bed, saw Wen Mo enter and immediately jumped off the bed, moving close to him.

"Yeah, hahaha..." He laughed, his eyes crinkling, and reached out to pat her head twice. "Don't copy me, because I'm an idiot, that's why I can play like that."

Xia Lian froze, tilting her head in confusion, not understanding what he was saying.

“Wenmo is not, he’s an idiot.”

Wen Mo didn't say anything, but hummed a little tune as he walked to the balcony of the room. Xia Lian followed him like a little shadow.

"Did you wash your clothes from yesterday?" He casually picked up the laundry basket, the clothes inside still lying there. "I'll put them in the washing machine in a bit."

Suddenly, Wen Mo stopped, his hand that was about to put the clothes into the washing machine. He turned around and stared at Xia Lian standing next to him.

"How did you wash your clothes before? Do you know how to use a washing machine?"

Upon hearing this, Xia Lian was puzzled as to why he suddenly asked this question. After a few seconds of stunned silence, she blankly made a gesture of rubbing her clothes.

"Come closer."

Wenmer pushed the girl in front of the washing machine and made her watch carefully how he used it.

"It's actually very simple. Put the clothes in, add laundry detergent, then press this button, and then close the washing machine lid." He demonstrated step by step, carefully observing her reaction, afraid that she wouldn't be able to learn it. "There are only a few steps. Take the clothes out after they've been spun dry."
