Wenmo didn't understand people who would post on social media as soon as they started dating, but only now is she beginning to understand it a little bit.
That's true. After all, my girlfriend is so beautiful, cute, and kind. Anyone would want to show her off. It's a pity that the official announcement can only be seen by the person in question.
Looking at the empty number of visitors, Wen Mo felt a pang of sadness. "One day, I will openly announce to everyone that I have fallen in love with Xia Lian and that we are together."
He muttered a few words, as if he had made up his mind.
For now, I can only ask this girl to put up with it for a while and let her pretend to be my cousin when she interacts with me.
Perhaps being in love really can make people stupid. Wen Mo was completely different from his usual calm self that night, his mind was filled with thoughts of Xia Lian.
It's really hard to get used to, but he actually really likes this feeling.
This afternoon I secretly played on my phone and chatted, and the teacher caught me. I would never normally do that. It seems that being in love really can change a person.
Wenmo covered his forehead, feeling a headache coming on.
Fortunately, the teacher didn't say anything, just gave a couple of warnings.
"Alright, we can go home now."
The street scene at dusk would last for a while, so the two didn't walk fast, but slowly strolled along, enjoying the scenery.
"I……"
"Um?"
Wen Mo looked at Xia Lian beside him, "Xia Lian, what did you just say?"
Xia Lian gazed at the surrounding street scene, lost in thought. She reached out and touched a nearby bush, then gently shook her head.
"Since moving here, I've almost only walked the route to school."
After saying that, Xia Lian stopped talking, but her eyes kept glancing around intentionally or unintentionally.
Wenmo blinked, seemingly understanding her meaning, and then smiled and said, "I know a pretty interesting place near my house, want to go check it out together?"
It's still quite bright outside, so a round trip shouldn't take too long.
"Is it okay?" Xia Lian raised her head and stared straight at him.
"Well, consider this a relaxing break before going home. I'll show you around my 'secret base'."
Wen Mo smiled mysteriously, pointed ahead, and pulled Xia Lian toward the so-called "secret base".
"I remember when I first moved here, I wasn't very familiar with the area, and I often got lost," he joked, recalling his life when he first moved in.
I'm so used to it now. When I first moved here, I didn't even know where to buy things, and I had to figure out where the market was.
I remember being late on my first day of school, not for any other reason than that my phone's navigation worked perfectly, and I ended up arriving at the school gate almost several tens of minutes late.
After experiencing so many embarrassing incidents, he finally became a little more reliable after going through various reasons. At least now he can take Xia Lian out for a stroll.
"I often got lost when I first came here. Don't laugh at me, but I found that secret base by accident."
Wenmo scratched his cheek sheepishly and walked towards a rather secluded place. Finally, he passed through a small grove of trees and saw two or three benches sitting by the roadside.
The so-called secret base is just a bench in this remote place.
"This is the secret base." Wen Mo patted the bench, which hadn't been cleaned in a long time and was covered with a thick layer of dust.
Xia Lian blinked, squatted down, and carefully examined the bench in front of her. She then looked around at the surroundings and couldn't reconcile this thing with the idea of a secret base.
"The secret base was too rudimentary, wasn't it? It seems a bit childish now that I think about it." Wen Mo laughed awkwardly.
Boys always like to make weird and wonderful things. They'll find a twig, hold it in their palm, and feel like they're ancient swordsmen waving it around for ages.
Or kick a stone into the river and see how big the splash is.
In short, the more boring something is, the more boys like to find fun in it, including the secret base in front of them. Although there is nothing special about it, the quiet atmosphere is unique.
"But this place is indeed quite secretive, since there shouldn't be anyone else besides you and me..."
Before Wen Mo could finish speaking, a series of hurried footsteps suddenly came from the path beside him.
"What the hell?! I just finished speaking, how did someone find this place?!"
Without thinking twice, Wen Mo quickly pulled Xia Lian into the nearby grove of trees and hid behind a rather sturdy tree.
"Hurry, hurry! Let me show you the secret base I just found today!"
"Xiaoyong, you're too fast, I can't keep up."
Footsteps approached slowly, and a young boy and girl came into view, playing a game of chasing each other with smiles on their faces.
Finally, they stopped in front of the two benches.
The boy, panting, slapped the bench and raised his eyebrows smugly. "This is our secret base. Nobody knows about this place except the two of us!"
The girl wiped the sweat from her forehead, walked around the bench, and finally came to a conclusion.
"boring."
“It’s not boring at all!” the boy quickly retorted. “Don’t you think it’s cool to have a place that only we know about?”
The girl was clearly more mature, saying, "How could we be the only ones who know this place? Maybe others have already discovered it."
Upon hearing this, the two people hiding behind the tree watching the show almost lost their composure, having been subtly targeted by the little girl.
"These kids have turned this into a secret base too. How annoying, I found it first." Wen Mo let out a childish snort, but he was also relieved.
Since they've already found out, let them have it. I don't usually come here often anyway, but I guess these two kids will come here frequently in the future.
Thinking of this, Wen Mo stretched and said, "Let's go home first."
Xia Lian nodded and was about to leave when Wen Mo's pocket suddenly vibrated.
"Damn it! Who's calling at this hour?!" He quickly pulled out his phone to turn off the ringer, but accidentally pressed the answer button.
The homeroom teacher's roaring voice pierced through the screen and into everyone's ears, "Wen Mo! You little brat, are you trying to start dating too?!"
"Ah! There are two older brothers and sisters over there, going into the woods!" the boy exclaimed, instinctively pulling the girl along and running away, though he kept glancing back every now and then.
Wen Mo stood there dumbfounded, holding his phone, with Xia Lian beside him, staring blankly at him.
Finally, as if to uphold his innocence, Wen Mo reached out and shouted at their departing figures:
"Don't say such strange things! What do you know, you little brat!"
