Chapter 21 Changes

For some reason, Xia Lian started to become very clingy to Wen Mo.

And she wasn't just clingy; she followed Wenmo around almost everything he did, practically inseparable from him.

What are you doing standing at the door?

After washing his hands by turning on the tap, he had just come out of the bathroom when he looked up and saw Xia Lian standing at the door like a sentry.

Xia Lian blinked and tilted her head, seemingly unaware of why she was standing at the door.

"I'm here, to keep watch?"

"..."

"What's wrong?"

"What are you doing standing guard outside your own bathroom?" Wen Mo raised his hand and flicked her forehead.

"Ugh..."

Xia Lian winced in pain, clutched her head, and squatted down. Then she looked up at Wen Mo, who had flicked her forehead, with a pitiful expression.

"Wenmo, it hurts..."

After spending a few days together, the two suddenly became much closer, and they became less reserved in their speech and actions.

He gently patted her head as a gesture of comfort, then Wen Mo returned to the bedroom, where an unfinished test paper lay flat on his desk.

"Keep writing," he muttered, scratching his head, before sitting back down at his desk and furiously writing on the exam paper with his black pen.

This was originally a very common learning scenario, if Xia Lian wasn't around.

No sooner had Wenmo entered the room than this girl followed him in without any hesitation, as if she were entering her own room.

Go back to your room.

Upon hearing this, Xia Lian simply nodded silently, seemingly agreeing on the surface, but her body showed no sign of wanting to leave.

Seeing that she didn't want to leave, Wen Mo had no choice but to pretend that no one was around and continue writing the test paper. He was the kind of person who preferred to study alone.

Fortunately, Xia Lian was indeed a quiet type. She just obediently watched Wen Mo's back without saying a word, as if she could keep watching like that forever.

After Wen Mo stretched and finished writing the test paper, Xia Lian lay on the bed looking drowsy.

It's quite remarkable that she could stare at me for so long.

"Go to sleep if you want. I'll wake you up when it's time for dinner," he said gently, covering Xia Lian with an air-conditioning blanket.

Just as Wen Mo was about to go out for some fresh air, he felt a tugging on the hem of his clothes from behind. When he turned around, he saw Xia Lian, who had been lying down, suddenly reaching out to pull him.

"What's wrong? Is the air conditioning too cold?" he asked, leaning down.

"Wenmo, are you tired?"

"Uh, I'm pretty tired, what's wrong?"

Xia Lian shook her head, but simply moved her body to the side, making room on the bed.

"Wenmo, take a break."

Wenmo stood frozen in place, staring at her as if she were an idiot.

"……no."

"Why?" she asked blankly. "We slept together last time too."

"Be more serious with your words! What do you mean by 'slept together'?!" He quickly rushed forward and made a "shh..." gesture, while covering Xia Lian's mouth.

Xia Lian, whose mouth was covered, did not resist, but blinked her big eyes, looking full of confusion.

Realizing his behavior was a bit too intimate, Wen Mo quickly let go of her hand and looked away awkwardly, not daring to look at her.

"Men and women are different. Didn't your parents teach you this principle before?"

Xia Lian was stunned for a moment, then thought about it carefully.

"Yes, I have been taught."

"That's right, then you'd better behave." Wen Mo breathed a sigh of relief.

“But Wenmo is different.”

Am I not a man?!

For the first time in his life, he doubted his own gender.

Perhaps it was because she had been clinging to him too much lately that he forgot he was a girl after all, and that even if the other person was someone he knew well, they shouldn't be so intimate; there was no reason for them to sleep together.

"Oh..." Xia Lian lowered her head, as if her whole being had withered, and lowered her eyes with a pitiful expression.

Perhaps feeling guilty for speaking too loudly, Wen Mo suddenly felt a pang of guilt. Looking at the girl's pitiful appearance, he softened for a moment.

I was about to offer some words of comfort when, before I could even utter a sound, the phone on the table suddenly lit up and began vibrating wildly.

"Honestly, who would call at this hour..." he grumbled irritably, then, without delay, took his phone and went to the balcony.

After glancing at the note above, Wen Mo was even more sarcastic, "So you only call when your dad is busy, is that it?"

Qin Zhou on the other end of the phone gave a sly smile, completely unconcerned about Wen Mo's cursing, "Do you think I need to wait for your mood to make a phone call?"

"What do you want?"

"Nothing much, just wanted to chat." As he spoke, Qin Zhou leaned closer to the phone and whispered, "You really went shopping with a pretty girl? I thought you were lying to me!"

Hearing this, Wen Mo was somewhat surprised, "Didn't you not believe me?"

"Hehe, Xiao Nan told me."

"Tsk, this guy really is a big mouth."

"Don't talk about her like that. Oh, so you have a cousin?"

"Distant relative, what's wrong?" Wen Mo said, suddenly feeling a chill down his spine. He turned around and saw that Xia Lian had indeed quietly come out.

Why did you come out?

Qin Zhou on the other end of the phone was taken aback. "Huh?"

"I wasn't talking to you," Wen Mo retorted irritably, then turned his gaze back to Xia Lian. "What's wrong?"

Xia Lian didn't speak, but silently tugged at his sleeve, her little feet rubbing together inside her slippers, before she spoke softly:
