Chapter 29 Hair

"That was close, luckily I ran fast."

Looking at the large number of new students pouring out of the school gate, Wen Mo felt a sense of relief. "Luckily, Uncle Zhang reminded me early."

He turned his gaze away and left the scene with Xia Lian.

"Why are you running?" Xia Lian raised her eyes.

"Of course we'd run! We had to run, otherwise we'd just be sitting there waiting for everyone to watch, right?"

The words just now seemed to have caught Xia Lian's attention. She looked at Wen Mo's chin with a puzzled expression, "Wen Mo agreed to... a hug."

“That’s right, but, but…” Wen Mo’s words caught in his throat, unsure how to explain, “But, there were too many people just now, it would be troublesome if someone saw us.”

Upon hearing this, she blinked, seemingly understanding Wen Mo's words.

"Understood."

Wen Mo breathed a sigh of relief. "It's good that you understand."

Xia Lian looked at the road ahead, leaned closer, and nodded thoughtfully, "Next time, let's hug in a secluded place."

"..."

I don't understand anything at all.

Wen Mo kept his complaint to himself and didn't say it out loud. He still couldn't understand why he had inexplicably picked him up.

"You absolutely must never do these things with other boys in the future, not even if they are friends." Despite repeated admonitions, Wen Mo was still a little worried.

She's too naive, and has a face that's easy to be fooled. We need to educate her about this from the very beginning.

"I understand all of this."

Xia Lian's eyes never left him, and upon hearing these words, her gaze became even more earnest.

She just didn't know how to get along with others, but that didn't mean she lacked common sense. Xia Lian understood the principle that there should be differences between men and women among friends.

The above reasoning inexplicably fails to work when facing Wen Mo. Even though she knows that men and women are different, she still thinks of taking the initiative to get closer to him.

"You must tell me when you make new friends in the future, you really must."

"Wenmo said a lot today."

"That's because I care about you, just accept it honestly."

"oh."

Even though he was worried that Xia Lian might make bad friends, Wen Mo was genuinely happy for her that she was able to make new friends today.

The girl is gradually returning to normal.

Although we don't know what she went through before, all Wenmer needs to do is be practical in the present.

As for preventing school bullying, let him handle that.

Their home was very close to the school, about a ten-minute walk away. The two walked in silence and went straight home.

"It's so hot..." Wen Mo felt like he was about to melt from the heat, so he quickly took out the remote control and pressed the button on the air conditioner with a "ding".

A cool breeze blew onto his face from the air conditioner.

"It's so cool here!"

Xia Lian imitated him, opening her mouth and saying, "It's cool—" a completely emotionless imitation.

"Huh?" Wen Mo turned around and saw that she was already sitting casually on his bed. He didn't know when she had followed him in. "Why are you in my room again?"

Xia Lian blinked, "Using the air conditioning...?"

"Your room has air conditioning, don't you want to turn it on?"

Upon hearing this, she pondered for a moment, then nodded earnestly, "It saves money."

"..."

Tsk, that actually makes some sense.

Wenmo couldn't find a reason to refute her for the time being, so he could only let her rest in her room for a while.

Xia Lian acted as if she were in her own room, pulling the blanket next to her over herself and burying her head in Wen Mo's pillow.

"Wenmo..."

"What are you mumbling about?" Because he was under the covers, Wen Mo didn't hear what she said clearly. At that moment, he was browsing a food delivery app, sitting on the edge of the bed with his legs crossed.

"Let's order takeout later. I'm too lazy to cook at lunchtime." Wen Mo patted her head through the blanket and asked casually.

After receiving her reply, Wenmo ordered takeout, tossed her phone aside, and lay down on the bed to rest for a while.

The speech this morning must have been quite difficult for him. Thinking about it now, he still feels a little ashamed that he actually spoke in front of so many people.

Xia Lian, who was buried under the covers, didn't move. She just scooted her head a little closer to the covers so she could hear his breathing.

A few seconds later, she poked her head out and looked at Wen Mo lying next to her with a puzzled expression.

"It's not that it's impossible, sleeping together...?"

Wenmo rested his arm behind his head. "Just don't do it again. I really want to rest today."

"Because of the speech?"

"Yeah, I was so nervous."

“Wen Mo didn’t tell me…” Xia Lian lowered her head in disappointment and pulled the blanket over her a little to the side. “Wen Mo is the president, he’s very powerful.”

Hearing this, Wen Mo couldn't help but laugh and reached out to stroke her head. "What's so great about it? It's just a title, nothing really. I just help the teachers and school with things occasionally."

She lay beside me, her hair spread out on the bed like tree roots, a few strands falling down her cheeks and neck. Because she was lying on her side, her bangs looked particularly messy.

"But you can rest a little more at ease now. After that speech this morning, at least no one among the freshmen will dare to do anything like bullying anymore." He grinned, feeling for the first time that his position as student council president was so useful, even though he hadn't wanted it at all before.

Xia Lian leaned closer, listening intently.

I felt a warm feeling in my heart.

"Thank you, Wenmo," she said softly, though her tone remained flat.

She has lost count of how many times she has thanked him, but every time she said "thank you," she was genuinely happy because the person in front of her was truly trying to help her.

"I told you before not to be so polite, you've made me feel embarrassed."

He moved closer to the edge of the bed, trying to keep some distance.

Xia Lian's messy bangs mostly covered her face, only revealing a little bit of her cheek when she was lying on her side.

Looking at her cascading long hair, Wen Mo casually asked, "Want to get a haircut?"

He didn't know how long she had kept her hair long without cutting it. He had roughly estimated before that it was almost waist-length, and she always tied it into a big ponytail whenever she went out.

I originally wanted to look more capable by tying my hair in a ponytail, but the curtain-like bangs completely destroyed the refreshing feeling and made it look particularly strange.

Moreover, showing her face can effectively increase her popularity; who wouldn't want to be friends with such a pretty girl?

However, the decision rests entirely with Xia Lian; whether or not she wants to cut it is entirely up to her.

Xia Lian's eyes flickered slightly as she responded blankly.

"Cut, your hair?"
