Late winter, early spring, and all the way to summer.
Even when he held the admission ticket in his hand, Wen Mo still couldn't feel the reality of it; he just thought that the picture of himself on the admission ticket was so damn cool.
"Damn, why do I feel like this photo makes my face look crooked?" Qin Zhou, standing to the side, held up his admission ticket in dissatisfaction, then laughed at his own stupidity after looking at it for a while.
"Is it possible that you were born with crooked eyes?"
"Get lost! By the way, which exam room are you in?"
Upon hearing this, Wen Mo slapped his hand on the table and then shrugged.
"Damn, we're fighting on home soil! We can even stay at school to finish our last exam. We have a natural advantage, don't we?" Qin Zhou raised his eyebrows, beaming with excitement.
This is the last class of evening self-study, and also the last class since I entered this school.
Although Wen Mo rarely attends evening self-study sessions, his homeroom teacher, Lao Lin, required him to stay tonight, at least until he personally received his exam admission ticket.
"Have you all received your admission tickets? If you have them, don't look at them anymore! Keep them in a familiar or easily accessible place! Don't lose them before the exam! This happens every year! I don't want you to be on the news!"
Old Lin's voice was exceptionally serious. After making sure everyone had listened, his expression softened slightly. "Alright, everyone, go check your exam rooms."
Although losing your exam admission ticket might seem stupid to others, who knows if you'll be next? After all, our country has a large population, and it's normal for talented people to lose things every year.
The atmosphere in the classroom was not very cheerful, especially when they held their admission tickets. There was a strange sadness in their chests, heavy and oppressive, as if the three years of high school had been suddenly held in their hands.
The moment I received my exam admission ticket, it meant that my last lesson at this school was about to end.
"I'm a little sad."
Even the usually cheeky Qin Zhou couldn't get into a fuss at this moment. He scratched his head, took a deep breath, and his expression was full of depression.
"I'm a little...sad too." Xiang Xiaonan tilted her head and pouted, clutching the admission ticket in her hand like a treasure, staring at the photo on it in silence.
The photos were mostly ugly, but no one really cared. They just assumed that they would look ugly for the next three years and that they would look better after graduation.
Seeing that everyone in the class was in low spirits, Lao Lin was about to say a few words when a cheer suddenly came from outside the corridor.
All the students looked outside and saw that the white test papers were falling like snowflakes in an instant.
"Holy crap! Throw the exam paper!"
"I almost forgot about this! What are we standing there for? This is our only chance in this lifetime!"
"I'll start by throwing math away!"
Almost instantly, the previously somber atmosphere was dispelled by the rain of exam papers. Everyone randomly pulled out several papers from their drawers and rushed out before Lao Lin could react.
Wuhu!
"Go! Take off!"
First came the boisterous boys, then the girls who were set ablaze. Everyone went crazy, throwing the exam papers down as if they'd never seen them before.
Old Lin seemed used to this scene, smiling helplessly as he looked back at the empty classroom, his mind already wandering off somewhere else.
"Wenmo, why the hell did you throw my test paper at me?!"
"You're just throwing this around for fun. Anyway, you're not writing anymore, so why bother cherishing a few rounds!"
Wen Mo held a large stack of test papers, most of which he had snatched from Qin Zhou, but he threw them away without hesitation.
Laughter, profanity, cheers—all the senior high school students let loose in this final celebration. Some even confessed their feelings at this time, causing a stir among the crowd.
The radio station didn't spoil the fun either; as if it had been hijacked, it played popular songs of the time, from "Seven Mile Fragrance" to "Dream Spot," from Jay Chou to Cyndi Wang. Everyone was enjoying the revelry.
As if to mark the end of the last class, everyone sang along, and many students, moved by the emotions, had tears in their eyes.
When the last song ended, everyone consciously returned to the classroom, even though they were still enjoying themselves, they knew it was time to go back to class.
Old Lin placed his hands on either side of the lectern and looked each student in turn from front to back, as if trying to imprint every student in the class in his mind. After pausing for a long time, a smile finally appeared on his face.
"Three years is a short time, right? I said that when you first came in. You didn't believe me then, but you do now. It's gone in the blink of an eye."
It's like recalling the boys and girls who enrolled in school back then, all of them innocent and naive. Even now, years later, they haven't changed much; they're still as mischievous as ever.
"Alright, I know you can't wait to go home for vacation, but at least before the college entrance exam, let me say a few more words. Listen carefully."
Wen Mo placed his hands on his lap, a strange emotion rising in his heart, as if an hourglass was gradually sinking to the bottom, with the last grains of sand slowly flowing away.
It's a little bittersweet, a little sad, but mostly it's about looking forward to the future.
"First, let's not study like crazy after we get home. There are only a few days left, so let's do what we need to do. We can take out the book occasionally to look at the key notes, and it's not a bad thing to relax the rest of the time."
"Secondly, I want to emphasize again before the exam: don't forget anything. I will put everything you need in the group chat, so remember to check it."
"Third, after you finish an exam, throw away all the books and exam papers for that course! Forget about them all! Just pretend you never took the exam, and don't discuss the answers afterward!"
His words were much gentler than before, like a farewell, but it felt too early. Old Lin was still fulfilling his responsibilities as a homeroom teacher during the last class. Only after he had finished speaking did he solemnly raise his head and, as an elder, write down everyone in the classroom and offer his sincerest blessings.
"Get a good rest, do well on your exams, and live a good life."
"get out of class dismissed."
