Chapter 69 The Last Whisper

What happens to a person after they die?

Souls? Ghosts?

If you feel scared or confused, then close your eyes.

Wen Mo reached out and covered Xia Lian's eyes.

"Look up, look at the sky."

The next second, the tears in her eyes were gently wiped away.

After a person dies, they will turn into a star. When you open your eyes, the brightest star in the sky is the answer you are looking for.

"At least for this moment, Mom will always be watching over you."

Xia Lian could no longer make a sound, choking as she called out for her mother, reaching out to grab at the stars in the sky.

Xia Lian's eyelids grew heavier and heavier. She was exhausted from crying and her body swayed. She was still trying her best to sing, just so she could feel her mother's presence a little more.

"The insects fly, the insects fly..."

Finally, Wen Mo placed her head on his lap, gently stroking Xia Lian's cheek. Accompanied by the boy's gentle singing, the girl slowly drifted off to sleep.

With all his longing condensed into this childlike lullaby, Wen Mo leaned against the railing and added the last line for Xia Lian.

"Who are you thinking of..."
