Chapter 87 Did you bring an umbrella?

A first-year high school classroom.

"Hey Xiaolian, are you in a bad mood today? You've been sitting there in a daze." Yin Tao leaned on the desk and went to Xia Lian's side as soon as get out of class ended.

Xia Lian raised her head slightly and shook it.

She wasn't in a bad mood; she was just thinking about someone.

This morning, Wenmo seemed absent-minded, and I don't know why. It was as if he had something on his mind.

Even the early morning hug felt somewhat perfunctory.

Xia Lian spent the entire morning pondering what was going on, to the point that she appeared completely frozen in place.

"I'm thinking about something else."

"Something else? Is it something important?" Yin Tao asked.

Xia Lian blinked and immediately nodded; Wen Mo's matter was indeed very important to her.

"Oh, I see."

Yin Tao smiled knowingly, and playfully pinched her cheek. "Are you thinking about someone you like?"

Before she could finish speaking, she confidently crossed her arms over her chest, looking quite pleased with herself.

"Yes."

Xia Lian did not deny it, because Yin Tao was not wrong.

Seeing how concerned she was, Yin Tao suddenly felt sorry for the president. His cousin had someone she liked, and he probably didn't even know.

I wonder what the president's reaction will be when he sees the person Xia Lian likes. He'll probably want to kill him on the spot.

"Ahem... Don't let romance interfere with your studies, young lady." Yin Tao coughed twice, then lectured her with a slightly serious tone, her words quite righteous and earnest.

“But my grades are much better than Yin Tao’s.”

Xia Lian tilted her head in confusion and added a sarcastic remark without expression, but unexpectedly, this remark made Yin Tao swallow all the words she wanted to say.

Yin Tao awkwardly poked her hand, and the next second she returned to her seat with a look of disappointment, deflated like a punctured balloon.

Turns out, I'm the one whose studies were ruined by being in a relationship...

(sad)

Xia Lian was a little confused, not understanding why Yin Tao suddenly lost her spirits.

Seeing her dejected expression, Xia Lian slowly stood up, walked to Yin Tao's desk, reached out her hand, and gently patted her head, whispering words of comfort, "Don't be sad, don't be sad..."

This trick was learned from Wen Mo and it's very useful for Xia Lian. I wonder if it will work on others.

Yin Tao revealed her face, looked up at Xia Lian who was stroking her head, and was eventually amused by Xia Lian's expressionless face that could comfort others.

"Yin Tao smiled."

"That's because you made me laugh. Remember to teach me more in the future!"

...

School is letting out.

Xia Lian and her two companions sat in the classroom, looking up at the gradually darkening sky.

The sky seemed to be weighed down by heavy lead, and a stifling atmosphere permeated every corner, suggesting that it was going to rain soon.

Before I could even leave the classroom, raindrops began to fall on the ground with a "splashing" sound, splashing up a string of water droplets.

"Why did it suddenly start raining? The weather was fine just now," Yin Tao complained, looking at the raindrops hitting the window.

"So what if it rains? What else can we do?" Ye Qingzhou said nonchalantly, pulling a folding umbrella from the drawer.

"It's easy for you to talk when you're not in my shoes. Have you considered how I feel, someone who didn't bring an umbrella?"

"Just stick with me, that's all that matters."

"Hehe, I misunderstood you, you're such a nice person~" Yin Tao smiled and circled around Ye Qingzhou, then picked up her schoolbag and prepared to leave.

Suddenly, the two remembered something, and they stopped in their tracks, turning back to look at Xia Lian, who was still sitting in the classroom.

"Xiao Lian, didn't you bring an umbrella? Why aren't you leaving?" Yin Tao asked with some concern.

If Xiaolian didn't bring an umbrella either, well... it doesn't seem like one umbrella could cover three people?

Just as Yin Tao was using her super brain to think of what to do, Xia Lian looked at the heavy rain outside the window and gently shook her head.

"I have one, I brought an umbrella."

She has a habit of always keeping an umbrella in her bag, rain or shine, just in case.

"Oh, you brought an umbrella? That puts my mind at ease." Knowing that Xia Lian wouldn't lie, Yin Tao pulled Ye Qingzhou out of the classroom, turning back to smile and say goodbye, "We'll be going now, see you tomorrow!"

Xia Lian waved to them, then stopped sitting and went to the first floor of the teaching building to wait for Wen Mo to appear.

The rain grew heavier and heavier, as if a string of beads had been hung between heaven and earth. Rainwater gathered into streams on the ground and flowed endlessly. The once noisy school became much quieter in this heavy rain, with only the sound of the school bell and raindrops hitting the umbrella.

Yin Tao and the other person hadn't gone far. Because of the heavy rain, they were arm in arm, their bodies very close, and Yin Tao's laughter could be heard from a distance.

"You're too close, you idiot." Ye Qingzhou turned her face away in disgust.

"Hehe, what does it matter? Let me cover up a little more!"

"You're dead if you step on my foot."

"That serious?!"

The two gradually synchronized their steps. Perhaps because of the rain, the distance between them seemed to shrink considerably. Ye Qingzhou complained, but still silently tilted the umbrella a little towards Yin Tao.

Yin Tao seemed a little worried that Ye Qingzhou would get wet in the rain, and she was much more obedient than usual, like a quiet rabbit.

They seem to be very close.

Xia Lian stared at their retreating figures, lost in thought, until Yin Tao and Ye Qingzhou had completely disappeared from sight before she came back to her senses.

She slightly raised her eyes, and the raindrops, like a beaded curtain, fell on the steps, causing her to involuntarily take a few steps back, but she accidentally bumped into something.

"Oh my..."

Wen Mo quickly helped Xia Lian steady herself, his face full of embarrassment.

I was trying to scare her when she wasn't looking, but I still got caught.

A few seconds later, Wen Mo coughed lightly as if nothing had happened and asked with concern, "Why didn't you wait for me in the classroom? It's quite cold after the rain."

The weather in the south is unpredictable, especially in early autumn. Sometimes the temperature is comparable to the heat of summer, but after a rain, it can get freezing cold.

"I want to see Wen Mo as soon as possible," Xia Lian replied obediently, her eyes gentle.

"Next time it rains, just wait in the classroom. I can come find you faster that way." Wen Mo rubbed her head, then looked at the torrential rain outside and shook his head. "This rain is really heavy."

Then, as if by magic, he pulled an umbrella out of his bag and said with a smile, "Luckily, I brought an umbrella."

Shaking the umbrella, Wen Mo opened it and stepped into the rain, turning back to look at Xia Lian.

"Xiao Lian, did you bring an umbrella?"

Xia Lian paused for a moment, and instead of answering immediately, she subconsciously reached into her bag.

After groping around for a while, his fingers had already touched the umbrella handle, and he was about to take it out when his hand stopped moving.

...

The next second, she let go, her face returning to its usual calm, as if nothing had happened.

"I forgot, I brought it."
