Chapter 17 Friends shuhaige.net

Without much hesitation, Wenmo answered the phone directly.

After a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone, a high-pitched, strained voice suddenly came through, "Guess... who... I am..."

"Oh, it's a scam call."

Wenmo hung up immediately and tossed his phone aside.

Sure enough, a few seconds later, the other side attacked again.

Seeing the incoming call notification, he deliberately ignored the other end for a while before slowly answering again, saying, "I have no money, don't even think about scamming me."

"You're kidding me! You didn't forget to add me in your contacts, did you?!"

This time, the voice on the other end was much more normal, unlike the disgusting half-human, half-demon voice from before. It was clear that he had only made that disgusting sound to tease Wen Mo, but he hadn't expected him to hang up so quickly.

"I did save your number in my contacts, but I thought some weirdo had stolen your phone and was pretending to be you calling me," Wen Mo said casually.

The "freak" on the other end of the phone was Qin Zhou, Wen Mo's friend and classmate. The two became friends as soon as they entered high school and have become best buddies over the past three years.

"You're the demon, your whole family are demons, I..."

"Get to the point if you have something to say, otherwise I'm hanging up. You're disturbing my meal." Wen Mo feigned impatience.

"Hey, hey, hey! I have something important to do! Don't hang up yet!" Qin Zhou quickly stopped him, afraid that he would hang up again.

Seemingly upon hearing the words "serious business," Xia Lian, who had been sitting obediently to the side, suddenly stood up quietly and tiptoed to his side.

"What's wrong?"

"Wenmo...should we go into the room first?" She pointed to the phone in Wenmo's hand, a little afraid of disturbing their conversation. "I won't disturb you."

Hearing this, Wen Mo looked down at the contact name on his phone and chuckled, "It's okay, this guy doesn't talk about anything serious. You can sit next to him and listen if you want."

He turned on the speakerphone and gestured for Xia Lian to sit back on the sofa, showing no intention of avoiding her.

Xia Lian hesitated for a moment, but seeing Wen Mo's nonchalant expression, she obediently moved back to the sofa, though she seemed a little uneasy, with her hands resting on her thighs.

"Tell me what's important you have to say."

"Let's go out and play together tomorrow afternoon. Let's invite all the sons, you're the only one missing!"

Wen Mo's lips curled down, clearly not expecting that the important thing he was talking about was going out to have fun together. "What kind of important thing is this?"

"Hehe, never mind whether it's right or wrong, just remember to come tomorrow. Meet at my house at 2 PM."

Wenmer rarely goes out, especially during holidays like this. He finds it more comfortable to stay home and sleep than to go out and play.

Besides, in the sweltering summer, there's nowhere to go for fun; everywhere you go, it's unbearably hot.

Just as Wen Mo was about to refuse, Qin Zhou on the other end of the phone seemed to have anticipated his answer and quickly added, "Don't say you won't come again. Summer vacation is almost over. You'll get sick if you stay at home all day! Coming out with us once in a while won't kill you."

"Well……"

He did not answer immediately, but remained silent, carefully considering what Qin Zhou had said.

"Hmm... what you said does make some sense."

But why tomorrow of all times...?

Wen Mo glanced furtively at Xia Lian, who was sitting upright beside him.

I just said at noon that I would take her shopping for clothes tomorrow.

Her gaze shifted closer, and as if sensing his gaze, Xia Lian gently raised her eyes. She had heard everything on the phone.

It seemed she had also remembered their appointment at noon earlier that day.

Then, Xia Lian pointed to the phone on the table, then to herself, closed her eyes, and gently shook her head.

Seeing her shaking her head, Wen Mo nodded knowingly.

I see.

"I've been thinking about it, and what you said does make a good point..."

Upon hearing this, Qin Zhou smiled slightly. "Right? Then it'll be at my house tomorrow..."

So I'm not going.

After he finished speaking, the atmosphere fell silent.

"Huh?!"

Xia Lian and Qin Zhou both exclaimed in surprise.

Xia Lian then realized that she had spoken too loudly, so she quickly closed her mouth, shut her eyes, and frantically waved her hands and shook her head.

≧m≦ (sweating)

"Hmm...!" Wen Mo watched her movements thoughtfully.

Oh, I see. I understand now.

"No, why aren't you coming?" Qin Zhou on the other end of the phone didn't hear Xia Lian's voice and just kept asking.

Wen Mo patted her shoulder and grinned, "Because I'm going out with a pretty girl tomorrow, I won't have time to spend with you guys."

"Hey, no...!"

"Don't envy me, that's all, I'm hanging up."

"Beep, beep, beep..."

On the other side, before Qin Zhou could finish speaking, he heard a busy signal coming from his phone.

"Damn it! He hung up on me again! And with such a flimsy excuse!"

He didn't believe Wenmer's claim that "he was out playing with pretty girls, so he didn't have time to spend with you guys." This guy rarely even left the house, so how could he possibly know any pretty girls? It was definitely just an excuse!

Thinking of this, Qin Zhou couldn't swallow his anger, so he immediately picked up his phone and sent two 60-second voice messages.

Useless Qin'er: Arminus...

Useless Qin'er: Arminus...

Mo: "Dragon Diagram"

Mo: "Dragon Diagram"

Seeing the two new messages on his phone, Wen Mo didn't even look at them, but instead sent two dragon images in response.
