Raindrops pelted the ground as Wenmo ran wildly through every corner of the school, holding an umbrella.
As if finding it too tiring to use an umbrella, they simply folded it up and ran towards the security booth at the school gate, getting soaked in the rain.
The dark sky seemed about to collapse. Wen Mo stomped through the rain, his clothes soaked through, and the splashes of water flew several meters away.
"Xiao Mo? What's wrong?"
Uncle Zhang, who was in the security booth, saw Wen Mo running towards them like a wild horse from afar. He quickly opened the door of the booth and waited until Wen Mo stopped before walking in, panting.
"Let's put everything else aside for now, I want to ask you something..." Wen Mo's chest rose and fell with his rapid breathing; he was still a little unaccustomed to running so fast. "Have you seen that little girl? The one you met before, the short, quiet, expressionless girl?"
Wen Mo gestured to show his height, looking a little nervous. Rain dripped from his trouser legs, soaking the floor of the security booth.
Seeing how nervous he was, Uncle Zhang quickly started thinking too. After a while, he shook his head. "I know what she looks like. I've seen her before. I didn't see her leave the school gate after school."
Xia Lian left a deep impression on Uncle Zhang; she was a quiet and reserved girl, so he was quite certain that Xia Lian had not left the school gate after school today.
After saying that, Wen Mo straightened his trouser legs, turned and ran out, leaving only a thank you.
"Thanks, Uncle Zhang! Also, please call me if she leaves the school gate again! Thank you so much..."
As the voice faded into the distance, Wen Mo continued to speed up, completely disregarding his already soaked body.
The feeling of being caught in the rain on a cold day is not very pleasant, but he didn't feel cold at all. Due to excessive tension, Wen Mo actually felt quite warm while running.
Wen Mo kept looking around at familiar places, pondering carefully where she would be at this time.
Before saying goodbye to Yin Tao and the others, the girl left behind a message.
Xia Lian looks very sad today.
Although I don't know why, when I'm feeling down, I always think about finding a place to be alone and relax.
Wenmo exhaled, his mind drifting to a place they had once visited.
What would normally be a few minutes' walk was covered in just one and a half minutes thanks to Wenmo's sprint.
Panting heavily, he leaned against the thick pillar of the pavilion and finally saw a familiar figure through the rain.
The girl's face was expressionless, but a faint melancholy lingered around her brows. Xia Lian frowned slightly, staring blankly at the raindrops outside the pavilion.
It wasn't until she heard familiar footsteps around her that she came back to her senses.
"I've been looking for you everywhere, how did you suddenly end up here?" Wen Mo brushed his rain-soaked bangs aside; there wasn't a dry spot on his body.
Normally, Xia Lian would probably have pounced on her and started asking her all sorts of questions.
But at this moment, she seemed not to see Wen Mo's miserable state, only staring into his eyes, her eyes revealing an unfathomable gloom.
"What happened? Tell me about it."
Wen Mo noticed that Xia Lian's mood was very strange, but he still tried to get closer to her, forced a smile, and sat down with her in the pavilion.
Xia Lian didn't answer, but gently shook her head.
Just as Wen Mo was about to continue speaking, the girl suddenly stood up and walked out step by step until she entered the rain.
The rain lashed directly at her, and within seconds, Xia Lian was soaked through, but she didn't move, simply accepting the rain.
Wen Mo did not stop her. He stepped to stand beside her, put his arm around Xia Lian's shoulder, and pulled her around.
From this angle, you can clearly see the full appearance of Xia Lian's face at this moment.
She didn't know when it started, but her eyes had already reddened. She bit her lower lip tightly and wouldn't let go. Her already delicate eyebrows were furrowed together. Rain was hitting her cheeks, and it was impossible to tell whether it was tears or rain.
Her heart was slowly filled the moment she met Wenmo, and what flowed out was not blood, but the tears of a young girl.
I don't understand, I really don't understand why it can't be like this, why it has to be like this. I've been trying so hard to adapt to my new life, I'm so happy with Wenmo, and we were supposed to be truly happy together soon...
"I have no idea……"
Xia Lian choked out a few words, her voice trembling with sobs, which made Wen Mo's heart tremble. He sniffled and Xia Lian wanted to push the boy in front of her away.
But Wen Mo's hand was gripped tightly, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't push it away. Xia Lian could only cover her face and cry, letting him look at her as he pleased.
"I... feel so bad... I really feel so bad... Why did it have to be like this..."
She spoke slowly and deliberately, as if trying to vent all the sorrow in her heart. Tears mingled with the rain, dripping onto the girl's lips with a faint salty taste.
Xia Lian saw Wen Mo clearly in her eyes. The person in front of her was clearly the one she wanted to get close to the most, but at this moment, she desperately wanted Wen Mo to stay away from her.
"I...feel disgusted...my thoughts...are disgusting..."
Her heart was pounding, and even in this distressing state, the girl still clutched her chest, trying to understand the words in her heart.
I want to be with him, I want to be his lover.
Why does something so simple become so difficult for her and Wen Mo? They can no longer even tell what's blocking their way.
