Chapter 139 Rain Kiss

The rain smelled faint, with a slight earthy odor.

The atmosphere during their first confession wasn't great. The ground around them was wet, they were soaked to the bone, and they were even shivering from the cold when they were sharing their feelings.

But they didn't care; on the contrary, the two idiots were quite happy.

Their palms were placed a little distance apart, each on the other side of the pavilion seat, their fingertips gazing at each other.

Perhaps he had become much bolder, or perhaps he was still processing what he had just said, Wen Mo swallowed hard, his fingertips quietly reaching out to the side.

It clung to the back of the girl's hand.

"Do you understand... the meaning of boyfriend and girlfriend? It means that after we're really dating, you can't suddenly back out or anything."

Wen Mo pinched her little finger and rubbed it occasionally, then took Xia Lian's whole hand in his. The girl cooperated by looking at each other's palms and interlocking her fingers.

"Yes, I understand, boyfriend and girlfriend..." Xia Lian nodded, the gloom in her eyes completely gone, now her heart was filled with joy and a faint longing for the future.

What to do after confessing your feelings.

After reviewing the entire process, if both parties are mutually attracted, the next stage is the pre-marital phase – the boyfriend-girlfriend period.

Both of them were a little dazed. As each other's first love, neither of them knew how to handle the next step. All they knew was that Wen Mo was smiling like a fool.

He was very happy.

But more than anything, there was hesitation and a slight fear. Considering their relationship with the outside world, what if they suddenly announced they were dating...?

Yes, things have really gotten out of hand.

However, Wen Mo did not regret it. He would say it someday. Why couldn't it be today? Since he liked someone, he had to go through the hardships in between and finally win her heart.

The beauty, however, did not react. She simply pointed a finger at Wen Mo's chest, then raised her head and said earnestly with a pure expression, "I will treat you well for the rest of my life... Please let me marry you."

"Silly girl, marriage is too early for us." Wen Mo chuckled and scolded her playfully, pulling her head into his arms. Her wet hair, still smelling of rain, felt a little rough to the touch, but it didn't dampen his joy. "Besides, if anyone's going to marry, it'll be me marrying you."

"Wen Mo will marry me?"

"...Are you deliberately trying to steer me into this topic? Something feels off." Wen Mo raised an eyebrow slightly, as if she had been led into an unpleasant subject. "We'll talk about it later."

"Aren't you going to marry me?"

"...What I mean is, when I propose to you again in the future, please don't spoil the rest of the story."

The two confided in each other in the pavilion at dusk, and the previous misunderstandings were also cleared up. Perhaps it was because the weather was particularly refreshing after the rain, but Wenmo felt inexplicably relaxed and happy.

As night fell, the rain stopped, and everything around was quiet and picturesque, except for the two people in the pavilion who continued their whispered conversation.

"Alright, it's about time we headed back."

Looking at the darkening sky outside, Wen Mo extended a hand to her and, with a touch of ceremony, pulled Xia Lian to her feet. The two then walked side by side toward home.

He casually greeted Uncle Zhang in the security booth, but the expression on his face grew increasingly strange. Looking at the two people's tightly clasped hands, his eyelids twitched.

"Why did you suddenly run away after school? I looked for you everywhere." Wen Mo stepped out of the school gate, waved goodbye to Uncle Zhang behind him, and gave the little guy next to him a flick on the forehead.

"Ugh..."

Xia Lian pouted in pain, her big eyes staring straight at her, seemingly hiding a hint of grievance.

"Trying to be cute won't work. You have no idea how worried I was about you. At least say hello to me." Wen Mo pretended to be serious. He really didn't expect that this well-behaved little girl would have a day when she would throw a tantrum.

Seeing that his expression didn't seem like he was joking, Xia Lian lowered her head a little guiltily, reached out and grabbed Wen Mo's hand, shaking it from side to side, her indifferent voice carrying a hint of coquetry.

"I'm sorry, Wenmo, don't be angry..."

Seeing her like this, Wen Mo, who was already soft-hearted, couldn't possibly stay angry. But she still deliberately kept a straight face and pulled her a little closer. "I'm not angry, I'm just worried about you. Don't run around like that anymore. If you have anything that's making you sad, you can tell me. I'm really afraid something might happen to you..."

The girl probably didn't know how much she held in Wenmo's heart, to the point that Wenmo was frantically searching for her all over the school.

"Because I thought of things that make me unhappy..." Xia Lian lowered her eyes, which were already listless, and now looked even dimmer.

"What's bothering you?"

"Yin Tao said... a special relationship means you can't date or get married... or you'll be seen as an oddball by others..."

The girl spoke slowly and deliberately, voicing all the concerns that Wen Mo had always had in his heart.

This is something Wenmer has been thinking about.

Is this really okay?

But the answer to the question was already given just now—who cares if it's possible or not, we're not dealing with anyone else, so we don't need to care about what others think.

"It's okay, as long as we're together, that's enough." Wen Mo squeezed her hand tighter, the warmth in his palm rising with the lingering thrill of his heart. His answer was already self-evident.

Why care about what others think?

Wen Mo has always been the thick-skinned one, but Xia Lian is a little different; she is so thin-skinned that she lowers her head as soon as she speaks.

Looking at the slightly worried look on the girl beside him, Wen Mo breathed a sigh of relief.
